This is false. They aren't going to anytime soon either unless they get albums out quicker.

the groups since then all had huge hits and it girls though. YG is on their 2nd successful girl group and already can't sustain solo music careers despite being the label that pioneered the group soloist strategy with GD :bird:

All of SNSD's successors have had massive hits(as big as any of Black Pink's were). Also SNSD is far from the only shining light when BoA and SES started the legacy of trailblazing and opening up new markets before SNSD.

Again BP has not passed SNSD in sales, they haven't even passed Twice last I checked :toofunny3:

As if SNSD have surpassed TWICE themselves, last time I checked TWICE are the best selling female Kpop act of all time?

BP, TWICE & SNSD are the 3 biggest female Kpop acts of all time though :clap3:

The ranking is:

1. BP

2. TWICE

3. SNSD

I'm going to need you to come on your main account if you want me to take this attempt seriously. You literally put the ranking backwards.

ill say it.

smtown performances cheapen the brand of the respective groups... they're so corny. you're not going to see blackpink performing with ikon or treasure to foster some sort of company family wellness. serving employee team outing realness. smtown really makes these idols feel like some contractors forced to do what they're told by their managers

I hate that sm keeps associating aespa with these Red Velvet girls :biblio: it cheapens their brand so hard :mazen:

YG family concert was the biggest event of Gen2.

soshi* has the bigger legacy on the whole.. RV has no impact lbr. every company wants their own jennie tho :jonny:

BoA opened up kpop to Japan

SES was one of the first huge girl idol groups in Korea

f(x) had multiple year end hits and were a critical darling

RV had a trinity of gargantuan hits

aespa has Next Level, Savage, 2m+ physicals, sold out shows in Japan(not every group has that) under their belts already and still aren't even an album in.

There were some flop duds in between but SM dominates this comparison sorry, and I'm one of the 5 remaining CL stans.

There's no way they will flop. They will have the thai public on hand but the expectation for them is on the roof. They need a PAK debut because BP did it and anything lower will be considered a flop because that's how kpop brain works lol

Anyway YG is either setting the new girl group up with that release date considering NewJennies are pretty much a phenomenon in korea atm or they are 100% confident and equipped

I could see a Rosé x KSY stage

Or Jennie pulling of Mino's Fiancé.

blackpink were originally supposed to debut with 7-9 members, so maybe the new gg will debut with bp's initial concept which was a mix of snsd and 2ne1

These arguments are messy and polarised and I agree with none of you :skull:

- Red Velvet have been extremely successful and have managed to outlast the rest of 3rd generation sans Blackpink. This shelved narrative is very outdated, 2020 vibes

- SNSD mothers etc. Their impact on the industry is unmatched. However its delusional to say that BP have not surpassed them in raw worldwide success

- Jennie may not yet have a solo career but she is clearly the biggest idol of 3rd generation (thus far)

- Blackpink are huge, if you deny that reality you just look like a sore loser I fear

Can y'all try and do this stanning without these absurdly polarised, stubborn narratives?

The whole SM company feels like 1 group, kinda like NCT where all the idols under the company are rotating around in different units

Baemon is the name of the new group? :rip: If it is indeed that, they won't even have 1% of the Blackpink's success in the West. For sure. Sounds corny as hell.

Add it to the pile of previous girl/boy group flops.

Apparently the Baby Monster concept are dual concepts with Baby which is similar to finkl/babyvox and Monster is similar to TLC, it's why YG said before that the new girl group will have rnb music and that they are like BigMama as they are trained is soul singing , we will see if they stick to that or not soon

It's their like working title name they've had for many years as trainees. I suppose it could be be their name but I would be surprised. We will find out soon enough

Not in raw sales. Barely in touring. They're bigger in markets where kpop is barely a factor. This argument is like pointing to aespa's US gigs as a sign that they're bigger than Red Velvet. SEA is the only market where Black Pink has an impressive lead over other GGs :toofunny3:

Only for females, and only because the biggest girl group of that generation wasn't allowed to have solo careers until they started to decline. :toofunny3:

People really think they will Hold #1 everywhere? :dies:

I mean they might for like less than a day and later newjennies will stomp them the day after :gaycat5:

But still dittos popularity is not dying out at all so even a debut at #1 will be hard

Definitely not in touring, not in albums, not in digitals. Maybe Streaming but even that becomes muddy once you start counting streams on Korean and Chinese services. :deadbanana4:

what is this comparison? they have less tours, less albums and less singles and even then they clear. compare them the right way and you know BP does run circles but you don't wanna do that :giraffe:

Posted

Wait.. is iKON going re-debuting in the new label without having to change their name?

So YG letting that copyright name go as well?

Posted

Seated for the new group :gaycat1: let's see the tea.

Compare them what right way? Ignoring career total sales or tours?

Nobody would say a one or two album act from the west shits on a legend who topped charts for 15 straight years and garnered by far the most sales in their category. :toofunny3:
