i still dream about what aespa would look and sound like if she was still working for sm. even groups like red velvet had a MASSIVE downgrade after she left.

(off topic but i was kind of hoping she would take krystal under her label since they're so close and we would finally get that solo debut we so desperately need but... yeah... not happening)

like Grimes visual concepts I think, and sound wise probably S.e.s.

oop there goes that one member's fake news that she only wins "popularity awards"

Not the MBC awards :deadbanana4:. They gave the Rookie of the year to Minju, when her drama started airing 3 weeks ago :rip:.

At least wait for her winning a Baeksang.

And before you say what about the grand bell, no one take this ceremony seriously will all the scandals they have these past years. Tang Wei and Oh Na-ra deserved better, glad Tang Wei didn’t show up.

Even if it’s at the bottom, we can’t say that Ador is not lifting a fingers. They actually work for making them global and unlike SM they are more smarter lol!

If only every company had king of payola Scooter Braun in their ranks.

People severely overestimate MHJ’s impact at SM. She wasn’t responsible for every single group and release.

but she was responsible for the peak of sm's aesthetic and branding - which happened in 2014~2016, imo. newjeans whole aesthetic is literally what she was doing for f(x) and shinee during those years, look at 4walls and view.

It's still...bizarre to me that SM thought Jopping would be some hit anywhere.

exactly. like, WHAT happened to sm and their producers? that company easily had the best music catalogue in kpop and now they're letting their groups release title tracks like 2 baddies and girls... even jyp groups are releasing better music nowadays.

Again people severely overestimate her reach. Key participated in the visuals for SHINee since Misconceptions and heavily participated in their styling since Odd(he dressed SHINee during View).

A better example of her close work with SHINee would be the off-putting Lolita mixed with hipster visuals for Sherlock that hindered the success of one of SMs best tracks that decade.

There are many, many creatives at SM on top of their love of bringing on people as contractors for certain projects.

i had such high hopes for aespa's music, after black mamba and next level i thought they were going to SERVE pop music. savage was okay i guess, but the mini was disappointing as hell and girls... well... i liked lingo bc it reminded me of f(x).

i'm still hopefull that they'll come through with their full album and release their pink tape full of GOOD experimental bops. but if we're getting the BAD experimental music... it's over for them.

they are gonna be i think ador should start promoting them in the us by 2024

Yeah but Ador need to focus on NJ acquiring Bunnies on Korea and Asia particularly SEA and Japan first before going western market cause they still have loyal Asian fanbase to support them in case they underperformed in western market.

Watching SM come to that noise music conclusion with EXO was like watching a car accident in slow motion. :dancehall3:

EXO going from best boy group quality wise to...Obsession type music was just... I had to stop. I haven't listened to a release from them since

Wait because you’re kinda right Ariana’s was lowkey declining as soon she dropped Scott she had no choice but to take him back now I see why the Hybe girlies are pulling these streams but where’s the energy with their BG :biblionny:

you would think aespa are completely washed it’s giving Itzy **** talking last year wow already dropped by kpop Stans :rip:
Let’s pretend girls wasn’t a cb SM was testing selling power so now Sm Knows they could release NCT rejets they will pull 1M. The REAL COLLAPSE is coming soon. :bird:

but mhj was not just a random staff. she was the creative DIRECTOR, meaning that she was responsible for the visual idendities of every group under the company. even if key dressed the members of shinee, mhj was still responsible for the planning and production of album artwork, music video aesthetic and everything else.

my point is that, around 2014~2016, she developed a very especific and succesfull aesthetic in sm that she just straight up copied and pasted onto newjeans. the 4 walls mv, for example, has some EXACT SAME frames as attention.

ever since she left, in my point of view, sm stopped having that ~unique and avant garde~ vibe of them and just became a regular kpop company, while ADOR and her group are starting to get that cult following and acclaim that sm had when she was under the company. we'll see if it'll last when a bg debuts.

there are seven new jennies because YG is going for that female BTS title too, as well as having a snsd/2ne1 mix that is more snsd :giraffe:

not me hoping that member list is fake news bc i want jinni or garam in

YG never really take known trainees or ex idols from other companies.

Most of the times their exchanges with JYP are unknown trainees not shown in showcases. So from the get go Garam or Jinny wouldn't be realistic. The only company who use to take known trainees and already debuted members are cube and starship.

Truly such an impactful song :'( Woozi is an angel, and the way he wrote it thinking about Wonwoo after his mother’s death :'(

ppl need to stop pretending aespa didnt colossally flop this year. four new groups legit outdid them all WW on spotify in a few months without stepping foot in the US. they lost their momentum and girls/ lifes too short stained their brand and hurt their goodwill as hitmakers to noisemakers. coachella and their US activities and all the fraud media play that came w it were cringe as hell and didnt prove anything to the public, doing them more harm than good, along w giselles constant screwups. but congratz on selling in a time when even nugus can clear a million w ease i guess.. they had no impact this year. the korean gp is not shaking for an aespa comeback the way they are for newjeans ive or lsfrm. they seem to be heading towards a redvelvet like trajectory where if the song is good then great if not then wait for the next.

No aespa didn't flop this year, just new girl groups popped up. Their release didn't do bad per say.

MHJ was behind almost everything

SM gave her more control above f(x) and SHINee, at the point that I feel their songs was made to fit on her creations than the opposite (not a surprise they are the best:celestial5:)

but that was not enough

Bang PD gave her 100% control creative

NJ is the project that she always dreamed about

WhiteAespaJeans would not be the same

Dftf was a return to form and seriously great if you actually haven’t listened. :giraffe:

People need to understand that the competition is simply stiff among ggs this gen. There was a time when ITZY was the defining 4th gen gg, then aespa came and smashed with Next Level. And then IVE and GIDLE took the crown from them, and now NewJennies are threatening that title with LSRFM trailing behind. So y’all can stop being offended when someone says so and so flopped this year. It’s only natural when you have so many groups competing with each other and doing well.

NewJeans are going to be the 3rd Kpop group to actually make big waves globally after BTS and BP i can feel it.

Hanni will be the next Jennie I fear :jonny5:

But I do hope we don’t get anymore Obsession (song), but that’s seems to be leading to impossible with the state of SMs music these past few years, I’m actually worried :biblio:

I used to be an smsheep but I have to agree after the NCT mess the company lost their touch and the music is not that appealing to me :ducky:

meanwhile Hybe is making everything to release good music :jonny5:
