Is it just me or is Selena's Revival era's impact now prominent in 4th gen groups with these "sophisticated rnb" "chill vibey"

"less is more" music and au naturel but sexy-ish image?

Do you lack critical thinking? Talk That Talk, are you serious?
I wouldn't have wasted my time if I knew you were just a troll.

How does Gfriend's older work negates the fact that Newjeans is the first group to achieve two PAKs with a 2000's inspired sound?

Adele single-handedly ended the EDM era and started the ballad trend that happened in 2012. Did Adele have to invent ballad music?

Not NJ being compared to Adele now :toofunny3: Adele was always positioned as an anti-pop star. 21 stood out and smashed in an era of Gaga/Rihanna/Katy/Kesha etc and 25 came after Taylor's mega domination with the Big Pop Era 1989. She was part of that music shift towards ballady songs but she didn't "end" the EDM era because we had several EDM smashes after that.

Sure NewJennies aren't serving noise/girlcrush/cutesy & girly concepts, but that does not necessarily mean that they are the ones who started this chill Y2K/old-school pop/RnB trend in music. They are not popularizing an already existing and popular trend.

A real example of setting/popularizing a trend would be 2NE1 with Girlcrush before BLACKPINK made it a thing again and took it to a whole new level.

okay if Adele was the anti-pop star then NewJeans is the anti-k pop star, why can’t u credit them with that since they do a lot of opposite to what has been popular in k pop 🤔 idgi

of course NewJeans weren't first to do the Y2K style but like it or not, this style will now be always heavily associated with them

like when Generation came out or when Fifty Fifty debuted I saw so many people comparing them to NewJeans or calling them "NewJeans style" and I don't think it's going to go away

it's like when 2NE1 properly introduced girl crush to Kpop but now it's mainly associated with Blackpink especially for 4th gen songs

Thank u!

idk why certain members in this thread are acting obtuse…

I think I’m going to have Priority on repeat. Love the old school vibe and the adlibs.

Time after time is going to be a MOMENT, I hope that they’re going to perform it LIVE !

And ofc the Kai and Seulgi collab song, who sound like a cute bop :duca:

I’m hyped for this :duca: beautiful Christmas has been on reply all day. I love being an SM stan because we get fun things like this

They have a somewhat unique vibe going on but NewJeans is still a textbook kpop group. BE FR. :deadbanana4:

I remember when everyone tried to deny that SM didn’t try to make BP 2.0 because they were more experimental(To them) when the only difference is their kindergarten AI concept :deadvision:

BP was an SNSD/2NE1 hybrid. The things everyone tries to claim that Aespa borrowed from BlackPink (styling, visuals, designer clothes, Instagram presence) were all things YG purposefully copied from SNSD to create BP. The way this thread always tries to claim someone copied BP :skull:

I hope that’s bad photoshop. She was so pretty :rip:

I will never get tired of seeing K-pop stans overreact to a contoured nose pic and suddenly jumping to conclusions. She has pictures on her Instagram from November and December that were current pics :skull:

Reminder that this masterpiece was the only 3rd gen hags song that ranked in the top 5 (or top 3?? I can't remember) of last year's rate :clap3:

Hopefully Last Sequence can snatch a cute placement this year even though it feels like the most forgotten CB of the year :chick3:

y’all doing too much. Tiffany looks the same to me and even if she did get her nose done who cares, she looks pretty as always!

I hope the Pinkchella rumour is true but I also wish for the day LSRF will get invited (by exec themselves ofc) in the future, they have the most potential to be massive globally.

Anyway I don't see NJ, IVE and LSRF aka the 4th gen leaders to change in the near future, all groups have already secured the International streaming and buying fanbase and none have even make an official move in US market yet. Also, the hold they have right now in korea is massive especially NJ and IVE, it's bigger than whatever aespa had last year just by comparing the success of After Like and the new NJ era to Savage. As long as they keep on releasing catchy songs, only a huge scandal or an overexposure can ruin these 2 in korea. Baemon need to be as talented as XG and G-Dragon to clear the 4th gen trinity!

Being invited by the exec themselves, ain't going to happen. The exec only invited 3 Korean acts and that's BigBang, Epic High & BP and all 3 of them were under YG at the time.

Yeah the YG connection game is strong with this one. Hybe better start courting the exec at this point before baemon debut because we know that they are now in the coachella line up and I won't doubt for the girls to be talented asf what I doubt is YG's creativity and music output

Bighit/HYBE canceled the Trainee A project and are now working in a new group with seven to nine members, a new concept, and new trainees.

Hybe made the right call by not going ahead.

they were all average at best (visually and In talent) and at least now they’ll avoid any controversy considering one the members was openly rapping about murdering women in one of his songs (a terrible one at that)

I’m sure hybe will utilise one of a few for a new project or even push them for boysplanet in feb.

I think HYBE kicked him out since they were preparing for debut and they wanted to avoid any controversy (like you said) but something got in their way it seems

8 hours ago, newuser said:

Pretty sure Leo quitted and everything just fall apart for the group.

Yeah I guess that controversy really derailed Trainee A debut. Hopefully BigHit/Hybe can bring the remaining trainees on new groups that likely debut around 2024-2026 and mediaplay them as 5th Gen bg. By that point TXT are around 6-7th years and their contract will be up to renew and we wouldn't sure if BTS are still at BigHit atp.

The whole thought process behind creating BP was to have a group with SNSD’s aura and visuals singing Teddy songs, and it’s literally all they do. Why do you girls think they’re Pink? LOL

I think they'll do very well for the next 3 years. They are SK's source of upbeat bops but sadly, they will get tired eventually. I can see IVE evolving into a more mature gg in their 4th or 5th year, but people won't like it and they would just move on to other newer fresher ggs.

2023 is the year of boy groups, ready for oldjeans, adspa, ive, and other nugus to flop :coffee:

Idk what this is about (probably 2023 welcoming collection, let's be real)

but whatever it is, they look good

I feel like this is what exactly will happen to BLACKPINK if ever they renew their contracts next year (for their solos too)
