Awww Ditto is actually really nice. I didn't love Attention/Hype Boy and certainly not Cookies but this is such a vibe. I love the dreamy sound and slight Y2K influence. 

 

As usual, this thread stays insufferable with inserting BP in every single topic and release. Sigh.

Not a fan of NewJennie but nice to see Kpop revisiting sounds other than girl crush. That’s how AESPA got popular too. 
 

Now we need adult sexy Kpop to make a comeback. We are ready for the new AOA / SISTAR.

What is the point in bringing BP up? NewJeans are doing incredible both critically, commercially and quality-wise, there is no point in the comparisons. Just enjoy NewJeans' success and slayage. It is possible to celebrate one artist's success without having to tear down another

I fear that the younger generation of kpop fans is way too conservative/puritan to let a group like that succeed

idk I dont the same thoughts about IVE and LeSe because their songs are not asking for that.

But I'm afraid that NewJeans is not the same case. They are following a path that vocal matters a bit more (if makes sense)

Yeah I get that but at the same time their primary market and image is very teen schoolgirl specifically, and I know they all target these girls, but I think NJ are aiming to get girls sing this in school or something / film little tiktoks and stuff in school with their friends, stuff like that. So them kind of just casually signing fits that.

I think the music video is detracting from me enjoying the song ?  which is weird because it usually elevates the music for me. Honestly I think it's because I don't want serious concepts/videos from kpop. I just want to watch pretty people sing and dance and make bops and bangers I guess.

We should be comparing NewJeans and IVE. And not to tear either of the groups down, but to see just how far an artist can go in their debut year. IVE got some 1.7B+ digital points and almost 2.9M album sales.

 

NewJeans are almost at 1.1B digital points and over 600k album sales already and it’s barely been four months.

I can’t believe some of y’all are trying to paint this narrative that any other gg is bigger than BP right now  Like the delusion. 

It’s like a repeating cycle, where whenever a new gg debuts, y’all will compare them to BP and claim that they will overtake BP which never ends up happening btw, and then another gg debuts and its the same all over again.
BP will always stay on top.

Blackpink only has 3 number ones in their career. They didn’t have a number one until dddd. even LSG didn’t top the charts and still had a great longevity.  Why would you feel bad for a group with sell well, sell out their concert and the girls are millionaires without lifting a finger. Some of y’all are doing the most when it comes for BP. You would think their songs are out of the top 100.
