Overshadowed according to you, but none of these 4th gen debuted with higher uls than BP. 
We saw all the year how promotions is important and boost a song, something BP didn’t do. 
 

BP are still the biggest GG in Korea and worldwide get over it

The NewJean’s song kinda give you early Gfriend’s vibe, not sonically but mood wise. It’s cute but too whispery and not enough backing vocals so it’s kinda empty for me I guess! The vocal delivery is literally Just air with no weight so that will probably get old fast for me!

Just bc they’re doing numbers above these usual Kpop groups doesn’t mean that they aren’t considered Kpop

Is Ditto's plot about the 6th girl aka Heesoo that used to be friends with NewJeans somehow ended up alone, maybe Heesoo and the NJ members are involved in a car accident or something, and only Heesoo survived it. Heesoo then reminisce the time she had with NJ, and in side A even hallucinate that they're still with her. The mv is haunting, the song is amazing

Oooh, I love Ditto so much! 

 

There's something I realised only in the last week but esp with this MV is that NJ in general feel like a Jpop group to me. The sound is a throwback that isn't really specific to one region, but the look / overall vibe feels more Japanese than anything? Idk, even the random Panasonic branding felt fitting.  If I was watching the vid on mute and didn't know the group I'd assume Jpop first.

 

Anyway, I can't believe this is a b side, lol. Literally one of the year's best tracks for me.

Ditto is cute but it really doesn’t go anywhere. And their vocal delivery makes the song feel kinda flat but it’s still not bad by any means so there’s room for it to grow.

At the end of the day, what BP have is something all the old groups and new groups want to achieve. Heck the pinks ig money alone might stomp all other girlies earning this year so for sure a #2 on melon didn't lose them any sleep

Ditto is literal one of the worst songs vocally. Their vocal delivery is so horrible after the second listen. It’s like baby squirrel n duck having sex, and the moaning is the result of their vocal delivery.  

NewJean is literal 5 Selena Gomezs , the female BTS. they’re kinda the other side of the same coin to BP. 
Lesserafim is superior

Now watch everyone follow the trend and doing the same thing NJ did end up complain there's no diversity everything it's Y2k stuff. No doubt NJ concept are unique atm, but I think girl crush concept should not gone completely for diversity sake.

I'm just saying BP peaked singles/ chart wise, yes they are still super successful but nowhere near DDD level like they used to. BP is the standard so ig I was a bit shocked when they not did hit #1 even after the 2-year break hype, while these new girlies are easily smashing and getting #1s. I feel bad for them cuz it's not even their fault, since it's YG that keeps withholding the music during the time when fans are ready and the most hyped. 

 

Pink Venom would've been easily a #1 if it didn't have to compete during Gidle, IVE, NJ smash cbs/ debut. But still even if it did, it wouldn't have the longevity like the latter cbs had. 

 

Also, didn't say anywhere in my post that they are not the highest earning/ paid GG out here? That's another topic.

The new girlies are smashing because they are TRENDY and we know how Korea loves a trend and hops on anything trendy…

im not sure why y’all feel BP has to prove something to these literal teenagers. 
 

they’ve already surpassed every girl group currently. They’re in their own lane and not reaching #1 with one comeback changes that. They didn’t even promote in SK so that shows how much they could care less about being #1 on the charts
