Itzy really could use a 1 year hiatus  And do solo promotions also some sub groups. Imagine a Chaeryeong, Yeji subunit  And a Lia Ryujin subunit with a lesbian song like Tatu

JYP did ITZY dirty cause "Cheshire" MV seemed very cheap compared to their previous title tracks, which also explains why it doesn't have replay value. Like even their Japanese MV's this year had higher budget than "Cheshire" 

 

And then we have SKZ where even their B-side videos this year are more expensive than some other groups' official title tracks

Wait, Savage was a huge hit last year for a 4th gen girl group and it's already been surpassed?

 

You know I said from day 1 that aespa's success can't be measured until they're put in real competition with the next crop of 4th generation girls. Only then would we know how they measure up and well, we have our answer.

 

I think it'll be tough for them because, like nmixx, they have this really built in concept that's hard to change without the fans who like that concept feeling betrayed. I'm sure sm is cooking up something (whether for them or a new gg) but something is off about sm right now. That latest Red Velvet song is probably the worst title track they've put out since Zimbalim.

 

JYP seems to be putting all their eggs in Stray Kids's basket in a desperate hope that they'll become the next BTS. will they? I don't know, but even if they do, at what cost? Their girl groups need direction. How are you going to give Itzy a comeback called Chesire, and there's not one Chesire Cat/Chesire smile in the video? The budget was wack and the song lacks a strong concept.

 

Nmixx performed great at their MAMA stage but the stage set up just proves that their concept/planning is what's holding them back. Sullyoon is doing like a magic trick, then suddenly they're mariners at sea, then there's a chessboard and some cg fish, and maybe alice in wonderland but not? Like wtf is the concept at this point??? 

 

Out of the Big 4 companies, girl group wise, SM and JYP are slacking and YG is only being held up by BP, who will almost all but likely go on "indefinite haitus" after their tour is done because it's clear the girls want to move on to bigger and better things.

Tbf, Stray kids are the main bread winners of JYP right now. They sold over 5 million albums this year alone and will soon become the best selling Kpop act of 2022, if not already. They have also been touring on a sold out world tour with huge arenas and stadiums throughout the year, and the tour won't be finished until March next year.

Sure KARA had promotion by being at MAMA, Killing Voice, IU's show etc but never would have I ever imagined a 2nd gen hag group outdoing Red Velvet and Itzy recent releases lol 

 

3rd gen sure is out the window (except a select few) and hope better luck for Itzy next time 

 

Anyway seems like except for IVE and Hybe girlgroups seems like none of the other groups showing any signs positive of progress

NMIXX they can’t be compared to Mamamoo bc even Mamamoo was getting hits unlike them.

pop did great in Korea, Japan and internationally it will song of the month let it go even if it doesn’t have the best longevity it did its thing, illusion is basically a title track it got more promotion than girls. 

 

For NJ = BP proof, Hype Boy is their Boombayah which outlast their debut single Attention/Whistle in the long run

It's hilarious to me that people act like aespa struggled to enter Melon Top 100  Earlier this year they had 3 songs in the Top 3 on Youtube (NL, Savage, DCT), Step Back was a cute hit, Girls went Top 10 despite being literally horrible, Illusion did on par with Sneakers which you guys call a "Top 5 smash", they have an album with near 2M sales...

 

But apparently they're flops now

 

They have barely promoted at all this year. IVE is literally promoted 10000x more than aespa. They've promoted 3 tracks in the past year and promote for like 6 weeks, did like 20000 university festivals, have fixed gigs on variety shows, etc. 

 

That's why their songs are having longevity. They have literally non-stop been promoting since their debut. 

 

The issue isn't aespa being fads or flops. It's SM not knowing what to do with them. Look at the way SNSD was promoted for their 15th anniversary. SM still knows how to go all out. They are literally just not doing it and their groups are suffering. aespa doesn't get any solo CFs, has no solo instagrams after 2 years, etc. there's barely anything to really stan right now. It's not a hard concept to grasp.
