I've decided Birthday is their 2022 Rookie :clap3: campy bright MV with some creepy undertones. Weird, polarizing pop-funky title (let's hope it rises like Rookie did with promo).

Also On a Ride (b-side of the year methinks) fits perfectly with the likes of Happily Ever After and Talk to Me, can't stop replaying it :gaygacat5:

People mocking about BP not getting a #1 in Melon really hurt blinks apparently, like get over it.

The RV stans always make everybody mad

Right?

That user has been trying it for a long time.

As if he was traumatized by BP not reaching #1 or just heavily bothered by SM stans, now that I remember he was the same when aespa released. :deadbanana:

...

RV's Birthday, like most songs with that name, is quite mid. It has some moments but overall is just okay at best imo. Not surprised that Korea is not into it.

Birthday is divisive within the fandom and will likely flop even with promo (though I’ll be happy to be wrong), but it’s settling around a 7.5/10 for me and it also came with some good b-sides

theyre not in danger of being shelved with those album sales + Primavera Sound next summer, so anyone planning a career funeral is gonna have to be wait a while longer

Btw Last night I watched the NCT DREAM concert, it was too short they let a lot of songs out but it was nice. Boom was out

I love Jisung now, he really is pretty innocent and cute  :frown:

This. Not to mention they already smashed with FMR this year.

Plus they are growing in sales year on year...most groups in their age category (7 years+) are slowing down

They look great but you can tell from their reactions they aren't happy with the song :rip:

What was SM thinking with that chorus? It's way off the trend of this year.

Yeah it's clear they're not happy this era. Joy especially, but Seulgi has also expressed dissatisfaction with the way SM has been handling things.

Especially if this comeback was filmed and ready months ago. This, plus the cancelled concert which never got rescheduled.

I think the pre-chorus/chorus is the best part of Birthday. It's the structure of the verses that took a while to get used to for me. It's a bit more chaotic/experimental and really they needed to continue the public friendly trend they did with FMR.

Okay I'll bite.

The only daesang you could argue they didn't deserve was SOTY - and guess what they didn't win that one.

AOTY is given to ONE album. Compilation/repackaged albums have won in the past (see MOTS7 or EXO XOXO) Proof sold more than BornPink and either of the two SKZ albums. It's as simple as that. You sound like an EXOL trying to combine two separate albums for skz.  :deadbanana2: Maybe next year !

ArOTY - BTS had a huge year by any standards. They were Busan ambassadors, did a huge free concert for 100k people, promoted Korean Culture and Tourism. They were first Asian artists to be invited to the White House & give a speech on Asian Hate. They had a TOP10 something BP has still failed to do How has BP had a more impactful year? A VMA performance?:bibliahh:

WIOTY you said it yourself "BTS are the biggest Kpop act of all time, like WE GET IT."

Spoiler

Most of things you mentioned about BTS’ achievements this year does not have anything to do with music but more about humanitarian work etc.

BP had a way bigger year musically with “Pink Venom” and “Shut Downl being the biggest Kpop hits globally this year. Blackpink and their whole “Born Pink” era was bigger than BTS both in Korea and internationally this year.
The award shows definitely are BTS biased, cause there is no way a compilation album of old songs should’ve made them win album or artist of the year. The lead single aka “Yet To Come” didn’t perform that well either compared to Born Pink singles.

Mamas also snubbed BP of SOTY cause if “Yet to Come” had the exact same numbers globally as “Pink Venom”, it would’ve definitely won over “Love Dive”.
BTS didn’t release enough 2022 music material to be sweeping these awards left and right from Blackpink. Them winning album of the year with a compilation album of their biggest hit’s throughout the years is kinda unfair.

Honestly either SKZ or BP should’ve won

“Album of the year” and “Artist of the year” cause SKZ sold over 5 million albums this year alone and BP had the most impact.

And with the whole “Worldwide Icon of the year” Daesang, I have no complaints cause it was 100 % fan voted. It was a very tough race between BTS and SKZ with BTS winning with just under 1 %.  So I’m fine with SKZ being 2nd and going to to toe with BTS in a fanvoted category and other daesang categories as well. That is something none of their 4th gen peers could do. SKZ still has a long future ahead of them, so I’m crossing fingers for next year :michael:

BP trash single can reach #2 (flop position) on Melon and #1 on Spotify and RV „underwhelming” song is struggling to stay in the top 50, why? will Birthday (full album) total weekly streams overtake Pink Venom’s first day? :rip:

one flop is not like another but people here will still keep pointing out BP’s „underperformance” :coffee:

Why you keep acting like a victim that only BP got called a flop in this thread when everybody (Reveluvs themselves) is calling Birthday a FLOP :deadbanana2::deadbanana2:

Itzy got a career funeral, Tank That Tank and DIRE got trashed every minute. Like get over it

Now imagine the Saudi one ... considering the issues kpop labels tend to have with .... researching foreign cultures.  I have morbid curiosity.  It's gonna get scrapped like NCT Hollywood tho I bet:deadbanana2: No oppa isn't against human rights he's just in his first life it's his culture !!!!11!!

Also who asked for more superM??? Has the BTS hiatus and orchestrated sabotage by the blackpink stanning spotify heads according to armys  underperformance in their solo singles this year re-ignited that old jopping flame in LSM ???

Even if they are shelved, they already last a lot longer than most other groups in Kpop :ahh:

Like do y'll realize that Irene is already 32 (Korean age)? :skull:

I’m not bothered with BP not reaching #1, in fact I don’t really care for the charts, I literally stan one of the floppiest artists ever too (Tinashe and Zara)

it’s just that we’re on a charts forum, in a kpop thread, everyone (sm sheeps especially) is entitled to roast BP for pages, SM sheeps like to hype up their artists just to get stomped by everyone else so let me have my troll moment and roast SM groups too, especially when some users here think they are second coming with amazing and impeccable discographies :flower:

but hey, SM still won with Savage ep and Illusion, to bad they already abandoned aespa! at least KWANGYA is here to stay!

Any surprises?

I really need SM to turn the mics ON this year though, it was irritating to see so much talent forced to lipsync for the last one :jonny6:

Does anyone have the numbers for this? I know she's the global kpop MPG but overall this year ? When those men dropped so much solo work?

Happy 1 Year anniversary to the best Kpop song of all time that kinda got overshadowed by IVE’s debut. It also marks the 1 year anniversary of Everglow’s hiatus :cries:

The way EVERGLOW’s last comeback was on the same day as IVE‘s debut. Somehow these 2 groups couldn’t coexist cause once IVE arrived, EVERGLOW went completely N/A  :cries:

Yiren leaving for China basically killed the group

Such a shame because their team was PERFECT at picking out title tracks and they had insane MVs from a random company. Like there was no way you'd hear a song like BBC/Adios/Pirate and not know it was EVERGLOW.  What a waste
