it’s not even surprising considering Teddy is working on those songs and even in Netflix documentary he mentions his influences

whole k-pop culture is stealing from western hip-hop culture and is made to break into and inspire from western market, it’s nothing uncommon, I thought kpop fans would be aware of that

I think those were actually some nice shout outs and inclusions, my only concern is the copyright issue, no idea how that should be regulated and if Teddy, YG and Interscope did their thing properly

the group has a big history of stealing black culture, so yeah it feels wrong.

Such stupid takes and you girls should honestly feel embarrassed for trying to use the plight of black oppression to hate on a girl group you don’t like. Western culture has always been about global saturation and influence - it’s impossible to name a singular point in history where the top Western countries weren’t trying to extend their global influence. You can’t be mad at Eastern artists for being influenced by something that was created and pushed with the goal of global influence and domination :skull:

Even interpolation needs credits. Like Olivia gave Taylor credits for the interpolation of New's Year Day. and then on Deja Vu later on

Incorrect. Look at the credits on Anne-Marie’s “2002.” When you interpolate, you can always pay the artist upfront and you don’t have to include them in the credits. The credits aren’t actually a list of who worked on the song - they’re a list of who gets royalties.

First Chungha, and now Hyolyn. Lord, literally every female soloist in the game acknowledges HyunA's status even during her flop era. Even Somi copied HyunA (leaving JYP).

Notice how nobody ever does this for Sunmi (likely due to having less impact and bad personality).

the fake concern about stealing from black people this is the kpop thread like  :deadbanana4: let’s chill

that same TikTok account tried to make it seem like renaissance was a stolen album bc of all the samples  :skull:

I mean there’s a lot of Kpop songs that are obviously influenced by black culture whether it’s the sound or concept. It’s not just Kpop influenced anyway so I don’t think there’s anything wrong with pointing it out :gaycat5:

Not quite. There are like 20 songwriters credited on its wikipedia and on Allmusic.

I mean using the same line and melody requires credit no? But at the same time I doubt Teddy is stupid enough to not have gone through the necessary procedures to use it in the song with a global act like BP.

now I’m curious how NewJeans will do next comeback and what will be their release strategy

they had this surprise and curiosity factor that put them on the wave, but now they are well know around Korea

I don’t see them sticking to the idea of teasing pre release and also, will they have more than 1-2 title tracks every release? now that’d be truly revolutionary

Nwjns debut really is revolutionary :jonny6: 4+ MVs and 3 title tracks. They basically let the public choose which song was better & adjusted their promotions accordingly.

Could you imagine if it was a basic debut a normal EP drop. Cookie would have been the title track. :deadbanana2:  It would have been a cute top10 in Korea but nothing extraordinary and absolutely flop internationally because of the lyrics.

Attention/Hype boy would be bsides that were paid dust like IVEs currently are.

Imagine if Nmixx had this strategy. Or Aespa during Black Mamba. Their debuts would have been so much more successful. 3 debut singles might be too expensive for a small company but big4 companies could easily pull this off.

I can't. Hyo honestly gives me emotional whiplash with how she made me cry one minute and then made me chuckle 5 minutes later

should have titled the album Born Black :dancehall3:

:rip:

Their stans are horrible at defending them omg.....deflecting to "well your fave did it too!1!1!" as if that helps anything :rip:

That being said I do think the most likely scenario is that they cleared it behind the scenes maybe....don't think they'd willingly get into legal trouble knowing how big of an act BP is.

yeah it was a really good idea, their rollout was genius and on top of that they served quality with all 4 tracks, I really hope they will continue with this take, although it’s really demanding from the girls and they are very young

I don’t really understand the idea of releasing single albums when you can have double the success with 4 decent tracks

NJ is barely one month old and they are pulling 1m on spotify per track with Attention and Hype Boy, another 700k with Cookie and Hurt… if they follow IVE trajectory they will be huge and they will have multiple hits at once from each release - especially when their music is easily accesible for western consumer

What does blaccent have anything to do with stealing music?

And you talk as if Lisa is not the worst offender of blaccent :rip:
