Yeah I agree that After Like definitely needed some vocal moment. Not to sound like a boomer but this is my problem with the new gen it's literally all about looking good, luxury brands , etc....where are the VOCALS? Where is the TALENT? Twice, BP & RV had at least one exceptional dancer, RV had Wendy...these supposed new gen leaders have nothing to their name aside from massive album sales that will be found in dumpsters in 2 weeks :deadbanana4:

A reverse NMIXX. Them having all the talent but horrible concepts :rip:

Sooyoung has lots of adlibs on the new mini so yes she's definitely part of the new vocal line. Taeyeon has also praised her for her vocal growth in a recent interview.

Deserved. She has gotten so much better since debut.

Love when idols actually care about improving their skills.

Say it louder!

Missing good vocals isn't a boomer thing, it's a universal requirement for MUSIC :rip:

just finished my first listen to after like, i kinda like it, eleven and love dive are better indeed but it's not bad whatsoever, nor extremely good, perhaps it will grow on me

also its so blatant that starship wants to dim gaeul's shine that ******* hair looks so bad:rip:

there’s no one in ive that has the vocal chops to justify showcasing it in their songs. Since they're not really influenced by rap/hi-hop (bp and girdle) I feel their songs are gonna be basic bops forever which is still a win! love dive was excellent and covered it up mostly - the dance break made it a bit obvious.

I like after like! the verses are kind of bland though

I agree with everyone saying after like was missing...something

its not bad but I had higher expectations based on their last releases and that teaser and amazing sample, the actual song felt like an unfinished draft that was going nowhere esp bc of how repetitive the lyrics/melody were

and yes a good vocal moment probably could've helped or just a better utilisation of the sample or a better bridge even; it just needed something to make it less monotonous

the sudden rap on afterlike yikes

Not gonna lie, the way these girls claimed to be training for 4-5 years, and have as much talents as an average tiktoker are kinda embarrassing.

The goat singing required skills and HOURSSSSSS of hard work, dedication and mastery of breath control to achieve. If you’re in it for the blinks, maybe it’s not important to you.

I fear Koreans are warming up to smooth vocals instead of pitch perfect. The way these companies don’t let these girls go out of their range isn’t a bad thing. IVE started this trend btw. And now everyone is doing it. (StayC did it first since ASAP but their last switch ended the run)

StayC are much better singers than anybody in IVE lets not

goat singing and "smooth" vocals... how sad. i like ive a lot but vocally they sound horrible on after like, shrill and not even in tune. same with new jeans. doesn't mean they don't deliver solid pop songs but the vocals are barely serviceable let's not lie. companies are not even bothering to debut people who can hold a note because the general public sadly does not care and would rather stan a pretty face and aesthetics

Let's state a cute fact though:gaycat2:

This is the best Illusion B-side:katie2:

And the performance + live vocals only cement that fact:smitten: Yuri is so beautiful.

I'm gonna be a boomer and cosign Billionaire too. I'm really enjoying many of the 4th gen GGs but I'm still waiting for a group that has IT.

Itchy are great performers and know how to own a stage. NMESS are talented too but both get shitty concepts from JYPig.

ADspa are my fave musically by far and I like their whole concept and visuals even though the Kwangya bs and fighting an imaginary snake/spider/whatever is next can be annoying sometimes. But they're not necessarily good/capitvating/charismatic performers to me. They are good singers but they aren't showcasing it enough to make up for the lack in the dancing/performing department.

IVE are just gorgeous girls with amazing generic bops so far which is fine and I love how they lowkey have built an *im gonna give the gays everything they want.gif* identity already, but I would like to see more.

StayC, LSRFM, NWJNS, G-IDLE, etc also have the same issue and honestly I don't care enough about them still.

No one is really giving me what BP, RV, Twix and Mamamoo had. The thing I love the most about this generation is the variety of concepts though.

agree with you. i like a lot of these groups but they really lack talent. there is nmixx but they also have the worst concept and music by far. its tragic

Gaeul's pre-chorus was the best part of AL :clap3:She is honestly the most charming member and has that it-factor as well. She will soon be the 3rd most popular member (if she isn't already)
