youtube music being bigger than spotify in korea is actually interesting

I don't quite understand the appeal

YouTube music comes with YouTube premium. A lot of South Koreans watch tv shows on YouTube.

Youtube is the second most used application in Korea just behind Kakaotalk and Youtube Music comes with Youtube Premium so I think it appeals to alot of people.

Right? Attention got 1.3M streams on Melon today while the #1 song in the US got 1.6M streams. (#2 got 1.3M streams).

That's why I don't take the people who belittle Melon seriously. It's still huge. I don't think people on here realize how big the korean market is. :toofunny2:

I get confused with the difference between uls and daily streams, like it makes more sense to me when the chart is based on the streams amount than listeners, but I guess melon chart focuses more on the popularity of the songs among users? btw BP already have 3.2m of streams on melon and it’s been not even a 2 full days, NJ is doing 1.2/1.3m daily

Yea Melon puts emphasis in unique listeners now because the charts used to be polluted by irrelevant boy groups songs. :toofunny2:

And yea Pink Venom got 1.9M streams today, I checked. But they had way less ULs than Attention. In a way it's a way to regulate zombie streaming too so I think the current charts is actually fair. (even if the trot flood is annoying sometimes :skull:)

I don’t know a lot of people who uses YouTube premium either. Spotify is only 4 dollars for me and that’s my go to music streaming service. I didn’t even know about YouTube music until like last year.

Has anyone talked about this pop masterpiece ? The way it would have smashed if BTS snatched it, but since they're nugus...

it’s for sure harder to manipulate, but I guess there is a difference between music consumption between generations, at least in my country

I bet the chart would be flooded by the awful songs if it’d go by the amount of listeners and not by the streams, younger people just tend to overplay music if they like it :rip: at least that’s my observation

Spotify has its „filtered” streams method on the charts, so they are able to regulate that to some extent

That's why Melon introduced the new top 100 system which combines both Unique Listeners and Streams

no bc kpoppies on twitter keep saying that they are a bunch of 14/15 yr olds, while just one member is 14 and there are NO 15 year olds in the group:priceless:

before this year ends there will be another 18 yo member, and next year danielle turns 18 (and haerin 17)

they are young but not a bunch of freshmen:priceless: so sick of this narrative

They’re using the Korean age. Only 2 members are born in  2004, so only 2 will be 18 years this year. (Minji is already)

Danielle is born in 2005 (17)so she will be 18 next year, Haerin is born in 2006 so it’s the year after, she’s currently 16 and the maknae is 14

That’s literally what the tweet said.

Dani, minji and hanni are already 18+ in Korean age.
