Ep1 is the most boring one the 3rd one is the best and the second is miles better than the 1st one so hyped for the 4th one with Seohyun on it
Magdalene Posted July 24, 2022 Posted July 24, 2022 jyp and sm should come together and make an aetzy subunit, not sure how that would work logistically but yeji, karina, ryujin, winter, and ningning together would be so powerful

Yes people realized how good Psycho and BB are but SM was not going to give us a R&B comeback everysingle time, that's not their way of working. 6 minutes ago, Comedor said: Watching SNSD TamTam now, I'm only 20min in and they already toasted to Ahjumma's Generation and made fun of Yuri's unknown solo. Omg they are just bitter Yuri had the best solo

The members have mentioned that this album has more of their input into it. So no I don't think that at their age they would choose songs like NL/IGAB for a title track. I am actually expecting a more mature Show Girls type of retro/jazz songs, because I remember them mentioning that it was a song that they really like and would like to try again.

I think things happened at the right time, because RV didn't peak too soon (unlike GFriend who were big at the start then quickly faded to nothing). I think the later smash in 2017 kinda saved RV from a similar fate. OOTN was the worst decision in their career. I have nothing against the music or The Velvet album, it's beautiful and serving art and talent. But it was WRONG for SM to do that kind of release so early in their career. That's something you do after you are established and can afford a flop or two. Joy said at the time she cried for days when SM told them it was gonna be their comeback. She didn't want it. Even backstage after OOTN 1st music show win, she was breaking down in tears because she didn't think they were gonna win any award for that song. CHSL should’ve been the title track imo, OOTN is really pretty and I like the MV but maybe that all could’ve worked as a b side. I’m not sure why SM set them up like that but it breaks my heart to know she cried for days, they suck 31 minutes ago, Cazy said: if joy cried after hearing OOTN, i don't want to imagine what was going through her mind when the a&r handed them zzb and showed them the styling for the era she said UU should’ve came before ZZB, I don’t think she was as a fan of it either UU was more safe and kinda like a second red flavor a little

In recording videos recently (for NCT Dream atleast) they've actually played the demo songs they received, they're showing all the choreo that was submitted via dancers through that new Youtube channel and recently some video also interviewed A&R etc. who basically explained to fans what they do etc. Not sure if the purpose is just to bring transparency into kpop but it is interesting how open they're starting to be I think that after flop after flop after FLOP, reveluvs were kinda losing hope, so having RV finally getting a comeback where they tick all the right boxes...??? Mature concept, gorgeous teaser/mv visuals, immaculate styling, undeniably great song that showcases their vocals........ Exhilarating, honestly. Butwowwhatamomentiwillneverforget.gif
rock4lee Posted July 24, 2022 Posted July 24, 2022 I wanted RV’s late career transition to be them embracing their arts before charts nature and just dropping constant experimental artsy-fartsy critic-bait albums. A mature house/R&B musical direction would fit them so much. I also felt like this was the lane for them in terms of western success because I don’t think they were ever gonna bigger than BP or Twice internationally. But then that shitty 2015 Ariana reject smashed and ruined any minute chances of this happening. K-pop stan’s have the worst taste ever
hindsight Posted July 24, 2022 Posted July 24, 2022 I think RV could've been bigger if their "Red" concept was more like Ice Cream Cake, their image that era was cool but still fun. releasing more Bad Boy/Psychos could've helped them as well ofc I love Rookie and UmPAK UmPAK but those were seen as too childish/weird by most people and I guess that hurt them in a way... releasing awful sings as titles such as Dumb Dumb, boring OOTN, and torture songs like RBB and ZBB also didn't help.

Billionaire Posted July 24, 2022 Posted July 24, 2022 All the stats & receipts prove that aespa is SM's biggest girl group since SNSD so idk why some people are insisting that the contrary is true RV definitely could've been bigger but I don't think they were really intended to be anything else other than a group to sort of experiment with. Kind of like f(x) but in a more public-friendly way?? The thing with aespa is that they've stayed consistent to their SMCU/lore concept & experimental sound since debut, meanwhile RV were always switching back n forth making it harder for them to gain more hardcore/dedicated fans. If they had stuck to songs like Psycho/Bad Boy they def could've given some of these groups a run for their money internationally.
