Akina's releasing a 'lost' Christmas song that was meant to be out 36 years ago on May 1 with a re-release of her best album. The song will only be on the physical edition. It sucks, but it's something 'new' at least.

In other news, love how she dragged her cheating boyfriend with these:

I cannot believe this is actually a cover of It’s a Small World :deadbanana2:I thought the title was just going to be a coincidence ajlksdfuoizxjvija. MESS.

Love this one from the same album though. The beginning is verrrrry Cowboy Bebop, which I just watched for the first time this year!

Miss those legends, though we still get some crumbs with the members here and there.

Yeah, that song is not the best duet of Kumiko and Heartsdales, but they snapped on this classic:

Cutie Honey is a remake of a song from the 70s so it's got that retro vibe. She later nailed it with her cover album, Color the Cover, too. Well, there's another one, but it's kinda meh to me outside of certain songs. Wanted the queen to make a Matsuda song listenable, but it was hopeless. Megumi no Hito from there seems to be one of her signature songs these days, though.

Dipped into another Hitomi's discography and made a playlist with some personal highlights (might add more songs later as I have 3 more albums to listen, and Flare feels like it could have some bangers).

I'd describe her music as trance/electronic music mixed with traditional motives, which makes sense if we consider her original aspiration to be an enka singer. There are strong Latin pop influences on her first album, Papillon, I have some songs from there in the playlist.

And this song is supposed to be a cover of Janet's Doesn't Really Matter:

And which western artists are these? We literally have a song by Nakata here who's been inspiring Western artists for ages, not vice versa. Akimoto isn't the only distinguished Japanese producer out there.
