Meloetta Carey Posted September 18 Posted September 18 Perfume is releasing an album in like two days (and they might drop another one at the top of next year) 2
Meloetta Carey Posted September 18 Posted September 18 (edited) I haven't seen any posts on here about the album and that honestly just weirded me out. Like how is a certain late 00s ringtone balladeer making more noise not that much noise but it's something than Perfume. Edited September 18 by Meloetta Carey 4
Britneyfan09 Posted September 19 Author Posted September 19 (edited) Kana debuted with 92,000 physical copies sold first day at #2. She should take #1 on the weekly chart. She truly won I fear. Congrats @Maresia and sorry @Suilen Edited September 19 by Britneyfan09 2

Suilen Posted September 19 Posted September 19 I hope that the fans of that boyband which is above her are as unhinged as the arm*s 1

Suilen Posted September 19 Posted September 19 Anyway, not very big on city pop, but this album was cute

Is this queen's discography worth checking out? Her album Disco Volante is pretty nice, but that's probably her poppiest release. The rest is mostly hip-hop/reggae, and I'm still in the middle of exploring it. The album this smash feat. Kumi is from might be worth a try, though. 1

"Switch" is a bop! I first heard it on Ku's Out Works & Collaboration Best album. 1
Suilen Posted September 20 Posted September 20 I guess she still has her fanbase, but the GP is clearly over her judging by the single's tankage and these drops. I don't think she's even reaching 100k sold this week. 1 1 1

The first day number and the way that it's dropped so hard is really quite odd.
BowWow Posted September 20 Posted September 20 (edited) Kana flopping a lil with her comeback is not that shocking. Comebacks are not that impactful in Japan for some reason. Utada is the only one who served a truely iconic one and even she didn't reach the heights her fans swore she would if she came back. Edited September 20 by BowWow 1

She's not really flopping in the grand scheme of things. 95-99k first week isn't bad at all. It's just the way it was extremely frontloaded that I find surprising. Kana has historically been one of the girls who sold well overtime. I actually believe these may be her career best first day numbers, but the steep decline in the following days has been interesting.
Suilen Posted September 20 Posted September 20 Well, I'd wait for the combined weekly numbers to see the full picture since, who knows, she could be slaying on streaming. Her catalog numbers are pretty good, and the reuploaded old videos got plenty of views too. But I wouldn't be surprised if she wasn't slaying, either, because her hiatus might've prematurely given her a legacy act status.
Maresia Posted September 20 Posted September 20 japan was so excited for kana's return that everyone rushed to the store to buy the album day 1 the dragon quest of the music industry 3 1
Suilen Posted September 24 Posted September 24 Still hoping that Oricon will filter those sales like Billboard did with Paris Hilton's album. 1
Suilen Posted September 26 Posted September 26 Well, like I predicted, she couldn't even reach 100k with all metrics combined. We know that j-pop releases, especially by women, can be frontloaded, but 92k on the first day and 5k over the next 6 days? It's a mess. Perfume outsold her digitally (their album wasn't released physically), but they wouldn't have outsold her even with physicals anyway since they've been on a decline. Still, not a bad result for her, on par with those 2 previous unlistenable albums, though it will be nowhere to be found next week. Back not to caring about the charts until her next album without the comeback hype drops! 2
