I have no doubt that if Max is heavily involved in TS12, someone like Elvira might be as well. Patrik Berger is also Swedish, so I mean…

But regardless, flying out yet again so close to Christmas? 100% this one was for Max Martin.

Yeah, she's not sneaking in quick trips the day before a game to go see Elvira

ddd it's mostly in jest (because I doubt their validity) but there are rumors circling - they were discussed a few pages back - that there's tension between Taylor and the wife of one of her producers the one with the Lana song, which has spilled over into Taylor's relationship with said producer, and with whom every Taylor-Patrik Berger collaboration has occurred :shake:

I can't foresee these relationship problems, if they're even real, getting in between a potential collaboration between Taylor and Patrik directly, but there is always the chance :eli:

Anyway in other news, the guy at Stereogum who has been reviewing every #1 hit finally made his way to Look What You Made Me Do, and I think we need to have a conversation. This is a camp classic, and yet... it's not being treated as such. Yes yes it's nearly diamond and has several billions of streams across all platforms, and yes yes its absolutely cataclysmic chart collapse is iconic, but... we don't discuss it enough? Like... why aren't we still writing op-eds dissecting every bit of this song? There's more to be said, and I know y'all aren't lazy because I see how much money you have to throw at her. I'm a notable Obsessed Reputation Hater, and while I'm underwhelmed by much of the album, I truly believe Look is just pure and excellent cigpop. The chorus is intentionally terrible and repetitive, and the bridge is incredibly theatrical and corny, and it sounds a bit like a drag queen diss track, and it samples I'm Too Sexy (also cigpop, no matter what people tell you), and straight people absolutely hate it, and it serves so much cuñt that you can see it from space, and yet... y'all can't be bothered to pick up its crown and give it the praise it deserves. It's so bad that it's good, ironically and unironically, unlike other... Taylor Swift Lead Single Syndrome sufferers which are so bad they're irredeemable. Don't even get me started on the collapse of a tour rendition. Why aren't we making threads about this song at least once a month? Where have we been led astray? Have we been beaten down so thoroughly by the THOTS lashings that we can't even get up and fight back, even with this cigpop song that they all love even if they pretend it's terrible? Have some shame, Swifties. Have some class, and have some gumption! FIGHT! FIGHT FOR LOOK! FIGHT FOR HER HONOR!

I find redemption in the crowd absolutely losing it during the Eras tour when the song is preformed. Taylor knows the collapse on her hands given the performance is the best in the show hands down

Truly one of the riskiest pop girl lead singles, but no one wants to ever give her that ddd. Like this song is actually kind of insane (and perfect). I've been a truther since day 1! :cookie:

Oh period girls, the Look revivalism begins NOW! (I've been trying for years but now I'm drunk and bored so let's make this HAPPEN):shake:

I'll put your names down for fundraising and the media push, we ride at dawn :shake:

When we finally get the Eras live album (and there's a ticking time bomb I'm gonna lob through your window if we don't have it before the end of January, Blondie), I'm going to make it my MISSION to make sure everyone on this godforsaken website is intimately familiar with the cuñt served in the guitarry live rock version. I've watched the bootleg film clip on YouTube so many times that I've started doing the head banging and hip sway choreography along with Elliotte and Taylor during the second verse-pre chorus transition and then also the sexy Mean Girls Christmas dance-esque stuff during the second chorus :ryan3:

See... I still think he's a really strong producer and do really like almost everything they've ever made together and was actually really excited he was all over the Kendrick album because I feel like it would inspire him and Taylor to start adventuring out of their sound some :suburban:

I still think Jack will be on the album. They've been in the studio together since the TTPD sessions. I think what's more likely is Taylor was working with Jack up until the reviews for the TTPD came in and she decided to add new producers to ts12 along with some Jack tracks.

When LWYMMD dropped with that music video, holy Jesus Christ did she make the comeback of a century. She was so hated in that era before Reputation, it was amazing

OT: I still can't find the interview for the life of me but I'm pretty sure Hack mentioned LWYMMD being intentionally abrasive? It was a single that was more of a Statement than anything, she wanted to get people talking -- and she succeeded :clap3:

This is why despite LWYMMD not being the best track on Rep by a fair margin, it definitely was the right choice, which certain other lead singles cannot relate to.

Luckily my IRL Swiftie friends recognized the iconicity of Look as soon as it dropped, but bby had I known you were trying to push this propaganda, I would've done what I could to assist

And as for Jack talking about Look, I know he said that he and Taylor had written out more of a chorus but then stripped it back to match the interpolation for the sake of abrasiveness, and there's also this video which I honestly didn't know existed despite being literally glued to twitter that week #fakefan:

And yeah, despite not exactly being a cardigan, it had a purpose and it stuck the landing, and nearly a decade out, it's been thoroughly vindicated and has held up well. **sothelioma could truly only dream.

I spent the entire month of September 2017 trying to convince everyone around me that it was a good song, that they should watch the video on YouTube a few more times, and that they should buy it on iTunes if they hadn't. I still have a bookmarks folder on safari on my old laptop with a list of the request links for the chr/top 40 stations in every major US media market. I've been fighting this fight for as long as there's been a fight to fight. Admittedly, I spent all of October 2017-June 2018 resenting the hell out of Look because I thought it singlehandedly wrecked her as a hitmaker (and to some degree it kinda did...) before the coming of Dalaicate, but that was always bitter resentment and was not a bearing on it's quality. I will admit that there was a shameful period in which I was an IDSB for lead truther, and then an even more shameful period in which I was a... *shudders at the thought* Nice Things for lead single truther, but I've recovered my sense of good taste, and I've been a ***** for Look ever since. It's honestly a Swiftie shibboleth for me, if you like it, I like you and you're a part of the Cool Swifties Club :eli:. I'm absolutely willing to admit that it's sort of a terrible song, but in a good way that makes me want to listen to it over and over. In fact, let me go watch the video now.

:suburban:

Anyway, I have a bunch of friends coming over for new years thing, I'll make sure to work this into the playlist at least 4-5 times and see if any of them notice. Hopefully we can begin to proselytize the Good Word :fan:

Honestly even if nothing bad happened between Hack and Taylor I wouldn't be surprised if Hack doesn't appear or at least appears much less on the next album...

Despite how certain fandoms love to portray Taylor as this egomaniac with skin as thin as tissue paper she's shown to be surprisingly receptive to and spurred on by criticism. The critics said Rep was trying too hard to be edgy so she made Lover, Lover was too shallow and autobiographical (?) so she made Folkmore, Middy had bad lyricism (??) so she busted out the thesaurus for TTPD...

And if you ask around people who care about this sort of things TTPD is primarily being dragged for sounding monotonous and people wanting her to branch out more
