Nathan from the Every Single Album podcast (an industry insider, their Taylor episodes are great) made a good point in today's episode. They were talking about how Zayn's second album flopped mainly because of promotion but also because people didn't care or want to listen to 28 songs. He said Taylor is starting to understand that it's important to give each album enough breathing room for itself. He said Evermore didn't get to shine because she followed it up so quickly with Fearless TV, but the gap until Red TV allowed people enough time away from her so by the fall they had renewed their hype, and he figures that's why we haven't gotten the next one yet. I wonder if Red's success made her (and by extension her label/team) realize it's smarter to span them out longer. It means we probably won't get TS10 for a while, but I think she sees it as a worthy reason because Red was received so well by the GP.

the BBMAs are on Monday, she probably won't attend despite having 7 noms (2 of them in the same category), and locked to win at least 3 of them... but,

BBMAs on monday, NYU on wednesday, and announcement next friday would make such a perfect week

They're so irrelevant that her attending feels like giving them unneeded credibility honestly. The fact that she actually showed up to the Teen Choice Awards during the Lover era :skull:

They have her an honorary award I think, I remember that it was the day after #drunktaylor and even with makeup she has a hangover face

Taylor has always understood this, though. It’s only been the unique situation of the quarantine albums that have been “spammed” in such quick succession.

And I’d say they probably suffered more from a lack of promo than they did from being released too close together. She hasn’t toured her last five albums, which has always helped keep the interest alive. folklore and evermore had one single / video apiece, and evermore’s only promotional appearance was a performance of the chorus of willow. Fearless TV was only promoted online, with no videos or interviews. Red TV is basically the only 2020s album she did a notable promo campaign for, and that still didn’t involve a proper single relese or last more than a week.

Obviously she doesn’t need massive promo campaigns considering how effortlessly her streaming stats stomp without her having to lift a finger, but I do think the lack of ongoing promo is detrimental to the longevity of these albums.

…..

Fair warning: The next time someone calls reputation “pRep,” I’m reporting them. Your AIDS jokes are offensive and unwelcome here.

In hindsight it's so weird that she moved onto Fearless (TV) just two months after evermore :dies: It really made us think that the TVs were gonna be churned out in quick succession, hence all the clowning (4/30, 6/18 :bibliahh:), it was so bad that she had to step in and announce Red (TV) 5 months early.

Oh wow. This is a nice explanation to the long breaks.

Lol yeah the TCA was a mess but they gave her some honorary award and probably paid her to attend to get some traction, but the tcas can’t be compared to the bbmas, it’s one of the only awards that doesn’t skip during her eras, she even attended during puta...

I really hope this is only a swiftie intern being messy...

and a reminder that the sacRED early announcement was intentional, it was 22 weeks before the original release date...

I sure hope not :rip: For her respect’s sake.

puta gave us Call It What You Want, Delicate, Gorgeous, and Getaway Car. All of which are superior to the bulk of Loser.

When she caved on, “Hey kids…” I feel she went back in and removed a lot of the vibe. The era tried to be 1960s singer/songwriter pop and she attempted to guide the era. Lots of 60s imagery and retro vibes.

I would be incredibly curious if the reception to Me! And You Need to Calm Down shifted any part of her promotional plan.

If it wasn’t for these eras, we wouldn’t have folklore. Even though those albums left a perfect mark on her discography, we got something the caliber of folklore from Taylor. It is songwriting and singing perfection.

If 1989 TV is the next one, we need it by August the latest. But I'm curious to see what she does moving forward with the re-releases
