I feel like SN TV was her peak TV in terms of first-day streaming numbers. Reputation and 1989 feel so current and are often-played. Like, Blank Space gets 2m streams per day. Apart from her fans, are casual listeners really going to say "hmm yeah, what a great opportunity to re-discover Blank Space, I haven't heard that song in ages"? Speak Now and Red were always praised to the high heavens by her fans, so all the new listeners who joined with 1989 or later probably saw the TVs as an exciting opportunity to discover those albums. For 1989 and Rep, I think streaming numbers will be great in the long run, but not necessarily as sky high on the first day as they were for Red and SN.

Chris Rowe is beyond lucky she chose him to work with ddd. The amount of money he'll receive from being on 90% of her original discography re-recorded now. :deadbanana:

It's kind of interesting he's been in her orbit a while but not in a big way until recently. He's done a lot of technical work over the course of her career. He first did work on the single versions (not production on the pop mixes) of Teardrops on My Guitar and Our Song for the reissue of debut. He also did some instrumentation on Beautiful Eyes and "editing" on I Heart ? and Invisible. Then he did do some audio engineering and mixing on the Speak Now World Tour Live DVD. Then he returns and did the recording or mixing on most of the live recordings she put out in recent years; the ME! Billboard rehearsal for the physical copies of the single, the Live from Paris releases from Lover, the Betty ACMs performance she put out and the folklore long pond sessions. In between the re-recordings he also engineered on the Gasoline remix and recorded her vocals for The Joker and the Queen.

Did we ever hear about how she ended up choosing him for this? I don't remember. He was never involved significantly before but he has a long history of behind the scenes technical work on country records from 1995 and then kinda fell off in the early 2010s (before Fearless TV he had only worked on 2 albums in the decade before it). In fact, he's never actually had a production credit on any of his work before the re-recordings. I'm kind of inclined to believe she's really the one steering a lot of the production work and he's there helping her with the technical aspects because of that?

If that's the case it's kind of exciting to think that maybe she's learning a lot from him while doing this (and probably her other very close collaborators, Jack & Aaron). Maybe she'll end up parlaying her experiences producing these re-recordings into solo productions on future studio albums? There seems to be some very intentional decisions being made.

Listening to Red for the first time and..........

And I just wanna tell you
It takes everything in me not to call you
And I wish I could run to you
And I hope you know that every time I don't
I almost do

Girl, no. 1989 will be even more massive, it might end Midnights

This was very insightful. Thank you. I knew he worked with her before but didn’t know to what extent. You make a good point about Taylor possibly gaining experience working with him and picking up producer skills. I can see that.

@Taylor fanboy It seems like she likes releasing just 6 vault tracks for each TV album so far. I don’t think 6 is enough for debut. Thoughts?

Posted

The critics consensus to Speak Now TV is becoming:

1. Better Than Revenge

2. What are these Taylor’s Versions for again?

She can change the narrative to the second one. Maybe:

1. Signed CDs / Vinyls in small music shops.

2. Donation of proceeds.

3. Surprise drop.

Oh I’m gonna riot. Six is not enough. I already have more than 10 in mind and this is the last chance we’ll get them.

I think some critics just wanted more juice from the vault tracks tbh. More songs about John Mayer specifically. Songs from Red TV had a lot of songs that added to the lore of the original songs and insights into her personal life. Fearless was the first one so it didn't get that much heat and it also had Mr. Perfectly Fine which was a good hooky narrative to get clicks from. Only Castles Crumbling has something for them to sink their teeth into in that respect but she had already gone there with Nothing New. If Speak Now came out before Red maybe that would've been a lot more interesting to them.

I think these vault tracks are ones that take time to fully appreciate and will become cult fanbase hits over time. Kind of like Speak Now herself so that's actually kind of fitting. :gaycat3:

We have the exact same taste. I want all of those too. The only thing I’d add onto that list is This Is Really Happening. :heart2: I used to break the replay button on Never Mind, Need You Now, and We Were Happy. Can’t believe Aaron ruined WWH. :grump:

This is just The Guardian, no? Hopefully this spurs Taylor to rush release the rest of the TVs, we need 1989 and Rep and Debut fan service.

This girl is begging wait, wait for me

+Sputnikmusic staff. She’s getting overexposed and the critics are not liking it. LOL If the music clicks, it clicks!

Poor Speak Now though, getting this treatment.

How could I forget Crazier? :chick3:  That one will probably be included as a non-vault track, hopefully….

I expect that she might add another week or two of  London dates but she isn't going to extend her tour beyond that. Touring that long ruins people's bodies and relationships. She isn't going to make her band that's been with since she was 16 tour that long. Also tours that go on that long get stale and she has a movie to film.

Also she is clearing recording another album. Her setlist is to long to fit another album without ruining the eras concept. She isn't going to release a new studio album that would be ignored on her current tour.  I expect that she will release her next studio album in Q4 of 2024 and then have a more residency/ festival focused tour for it instead of trying to replicate  the Eras tour.

ngl a Lover Fest type of thing would be iconic.

Have drag queens lip sync her pop bangers in a Coachella like tent, have like the Taylor cookies she made for her fans during the secret sessions and other TS themed food, a museum of Taylor Swift lore and her outfits (her koi fish guitar is iconique!) have her music and other artists she likes like idk Selener, Paramore, beeboopdoopbee, FOB, Bon Iver, etc. do 1 hr sets and stuff and have her be the main event at night whew :jonny5:

Coming for Coachella's wig I fear

I could see her doing a whole second disk of vault tracks for debut. Especially if it is the last TV to drop.

People trying to say she has to hurry the re recordings because of one review :bibliahh: yeah I'm sure she's gonna disregard the fact they keep selling more and more and people are loving them because some bland woman was whining about them

Oh no I just want her to rush release them because I have no patience :deadbanana2:

Yall are doing the most on the TVs here the only cardinal sin so far is her allowing that WIIIIEEEE on WANEGBT like honestly she deserves to have her next single flop for that alone :toofunny3:

Everything has been so so to amazing (with WANEGBT as the exception of being garbage)

Girl at Home was remade and honestly that was Top 5 on RED TV imo the production was so airy and expansive, if she brings in the Seeb dude and Elvira back they may create a new spark for the pop TVs

It's sad. Laura Snapes had the last great profile on Taylor during the lover era (vogue profile sucked). Now I don't think Taylor will have Laura profile again if she ever does a profile again.

After listening to SN TV and revisiting RED TV im getting teary eyed :cries:

I love this ***** DOWN  like the career growth is so gag worthy! The girl who used to dominate the airwaves in my home country with her yeehaw teen music to now becoming a bonafide active legend :WAP: The hints of sonic shifts from TS - FEARLESS - SN - RED like just listening to Sweeter than Fiction THIS ***** was dreaming of being the biggest popstar in the world AHHH I bet New Romantics being produced was a holy moment for their team they KNEW they had a hit record on their hands :jonny5:

Im so proud of this discography shes created! Its why im so excited for debut TV its gotta be the most sonically shocking for us! Shes run the gamut from hard country, teen pop, poprock, synthpop, electro-r&b, jazz, alternative, drum n bass like :jonny5: her discog has something for EVERYONE!!!

Honestly the whiny, bratty, full of negativity part of the fandom is wayyyyyy worse than the cupcakes that they always make fun of.
