Sansa Posted May 7, 2022 Posted May 7, 2022 I'm glad she's not performing too. It must be already nerve-wracking for her to only host. Singing too would made it 100x worse. I hope the writers write her some good sketches. She has good comedic timing but she needs good writing too. I'm excited. I wanted her to do this for so long. I wonder if she'll do a WOWP or Disney or a Barney sketch. I loved the Disney sketches they did with Lindsay Lohan. Stans want her to be shady and drag people, specifically her ex, but that would be so stupid. This is a big night for her and this is her moment. Why bring attention to a relationship that ended 4 years ago and to a man who you don't want her be linked with anymore? Stans are so dumb. They think this would be a bad ***** moment and show him but this would only refect badly on her for not being able to move on. Maybe the Martins will host the finale.

She’d be free from SNL and that one White House thing. But I agree, I think such short notice for something like a Cannes debut is not really common (unless they already pitched it to the festival and Selena only has to announce it publicly). Anyways, even if it doesn’t, at least we got sort of a hint that a doc exists, so I’m already super happy. Maybe she does release the album on her 30th birthday and is accompanied by the doc. So it exists I was thinking Prime too cause they've been tweeting about her a lot lately for apparently no reason. Whichever it is you know Aleen made sure to get the best possible deal and I think big streamers like Netflix are not willing to spend as much as smaller ones, see how HBO Max got the much-anticipated Friends and Harry Potter reunions for example

I think it will either be Prime or Apple TV+ then, since she got the deal for Billie too. I'm so excited since it's her first ever documentary about her life so there's potential for it to be really good.

I don't want to get my hopes up but the fact she's supposedly about to announce it with the Cannes festival being just a couple weeks away... I remember @Sansa once guessed she might have debuted a hypothetical documentary there, but after a while it seemed like no such thing even existed so we just stopped talking about it. Unfortunately ATRL wiped off the old thread so I can't find the exact post, but if it happens then hats off lol I feel like there would have to be a promotional angle that goes beyond being a "Selena Gomez documentary" to get such a prestigious spot, though. Maybe the fact that it could be a major vehicle to talk about mental health and to shed a light on lupus, among other things. It would also be very on brand for her to do so lol I hope we get something soon, I feel like Alek hinting it means they gave him a greenlight since a proper and official announcement is coming.

So many cool things in her life have also happened since they started filming. I already know it will be so intense to see it especially from her perspective in that sense. She's always been private but even more so the past few years so it will be nice to actually hear some of her thoughts and just her life in general.

She has talked about her 30th birthday a lot during the past year so I'm sure this is her plan + it being on a Friday is literally perfect. However, I don't know if releasing both things at the same time is a good idea, maybe the doc comes out a week or two weeks before with the newest footage being the recording of the album and then she releases the album on her birthday, or the other way around.
