Can someone explain to me the television / movie awards equivalent to music awards?

Like I'm assuming the Oscars is the equivalent to the Grammys in terms of importance prestige etc

love that Old Hollywood look on her. Is the event over? I hope she at least mingled and took more pics with other celebs. lol the host was cringe with that obligatory tired R9-related statement whenever Rih comes around

TV = Emmys

Music = Grammys

Movies/Film = Oscars

Stage/Play/Musicals/Theatre = Tonys!

And I think it’s great she took time from Super Bowl rehearsals to attend. Even if she didn’t win tonight, it was great to show face and keep the song, her, and Black Panther top of mind as Oscar nominations and voting are coming up.

Even though I feel Lift Me Up is a lock for the Oscar nom already, it doesn’t hurt to mingle, and trend (which she did)

Ooooh

Yeah it would rank like…

1. Oscar, Grammy, Emmy, Tony (EGOT)

(They’re the most prestigious because they’re all given out within those industries - and only voted by membered academies)

2. Golden Globes, Critics Choice Awards

(Given out by the Hollywood Foreign Press, and Critics Association, in lead up to Oscar Season)

3. Billboard, AMAs, VMAs, People’s Choice

(Given out by Billboard, MTV, fan voted, etc)

BET and Soul Train highlight black talent as they’re often overlooked in those other award shows

No cares about winning an iHeart Radio award, it was just a show created within the last few years by iHeart to have an award show lol

and then there’s the UK equivalent to the Oscars and Grammys, which are the BAFTAs and Brits (which are pretty prestigious to receive as well)

She was stunning. I was expecting LMU to win to be honest. But Love to see her that beautiful, love her humble congratulated RRR and love the way that they looks like a Rihanna fans event with all the attention they give to her, the jokes and all.

I wanted the Oscar for the performance. Cause I'm sure she will slay LMU live. But I think natu natu will win again

This would've been perfect for the Rated R era, and to think she turned it down :jonny6:

nah i think Rated R is perfect as is - it just needs a physical explicit release (same with Loud)

She doesn’t have to win the Oscar to perform there, just to be nominated

With all due respect

1. Oscar

2. Gloden Globe / BAFTA

3. Grammy

4. Emmy

5. Tony

6. Critic's Choice Awards / Brit Award

7. BMA / AMA / VMA

would be right

Grammys above Golden Globes and Baftas below Golden Globes, and sounds about right

Sad she didn't win TBH...

But seeing her attending was really nice.

She looked amazing and up to par to her standards

She looked absolutely gorgeous!

It’s unfortunate that she didn’t win. She had a good chance I felt. Split votes could’ve cost her the win.

But nevertheless getting nominated for a Golden Globe was already fantastic and it was so good to see her all smiles during the ceremony. She was having a blast. And she took her loss like a champ. Shows how good and kind of a person she is :clap3:

Here’s to hoping for an Oscar nomination so we can get a performance from her at the Oscars.

SO PISSED she didn’t win, for me she was the obvious winner and you can see from people’s reactions in the audience that they all thought she was winning! She looked absolutely fantastic, i missed GlamRih, the hair, the make-up, the dress ahhh:WAP:!!

This fits nowhere in Rated R.... like... no way

Oh seems like it's one of those years that they want to feel cool by voting a non English and unknown song! It was too much for them to have 3 pop girls in the category. Judging by the fact that Oscars are even more pretentious, it's over. She doesn't even have to bother to perform there.

When we got the nominated acts I told you that Naatu Naatu was gonna win.

When big names come to play... votes tend to get divided... so the least divided song wins

Not someone saying the Globes thought she was a no show so they went with Naatu Naatu since they were the only ones there dddd why can I picture this happening fr

She looked just in tone with the occasion of an award ceremony! I think she lost because her involvement with the soundtrack was so fast and sudden that the reason for awarding her would have been so obvious - her starpower.

She should've won imo :celestial5: Staying optimistic for The Oscars...maybe they will get it right.

Do we think any new music is likely to be released with the SB halftime performance?

Posted

I doubt there will be any new music there.
