99sandthe2000s Posted May 6, 2022 Posted May 6, 2022 Starrah is Executive Producer on her album https://vmagazine.com/article/a-starrah-on-the-rise/ Quote And, to get a little meta, the album was a long time coming, naturally so after years of working on some of the biggest hits of the past decade like the aforementioned “Savage,” Camila Cabello’s “Havana,” Rihanna’s “Needed Me,” Maroon 5’s “Girls Like You,” and fully executive producing Normani’s highly anticipated debut album.
99sandthe2000s Posted May 6, 2022 Posted May 6, 2022 Just realized that's from April, 2021 BUT it might still be true

mxoonlight Posted May 7, 2022 Posted May 7, 2022 This has nothing to do with anything and is more of just a shower thought rant, but I don't know, the directing of this MV is really pissing me off. For the most part, the shots themselves are very well-captured, but it's the editing and sequencing that's really annoying to me. They start with the weakest shots instead of their strongest ones, the color palette changes midway through the video and they try to sum the shots together towards the end but the transitions in between scenes have no real synergy or method to them that it's a little frustrating. That rooftop dance scene is SOOOOO sick, the look would've been so iconic had it been presented first instead of halfway through the video and the slide move would've been received better had she done it in 1) a better shot scene (it looks like they ran out of budget even though I don't know the real tea/don't feel like watching a BTS) and 2) had they had her do it in that first outfit from the red room. It was really giving serpentine vixen and the purple dress was giving Dancing with the Stars costume. I don't know. Like I really like this video but I just don't like the order they put everything in, feel like the best shots got used for the least impactful parts of the song and the lack of a through line for the shots themselves brings it down.

I was gonna address all the points in this post but in short, I think the video was handled with the utmost care and professionalism. The only scene I didn't care too much for was Cardi's scene and we all know why it ended up being the way it is, so I don't really have an issue with that. Hands down her best video. Oh I totally am, I was literally just randomly thinking to myself while watching it yesterday gdkljg. Her best video but there's always room for improvement!
nooniebao Posted May 11, 2022 Posted May 11, 2022 Quote Fuller, the founder of XIX Entertainment and creator of the “American Idol” format, will offer a pipeline to S10 clients — which include Anitta and Normani as well as business and publishing ventures with Ryan Tedder, Harv and Max Matsura — and access to additional film and television opportunities.

Sis, you need to understand this: There's no reason to put the best scenes first in a whatever type of video we're talking about. We need the audience to keep watching, and doing what they did actually made that possible because it got better after every scene. It was like a switch between really crazy shots and regular ones. Some of them were very simple, like the purple dress one, but she still got people gasped by whatever she did there. I really like the editing and how no set gets repeated besides that last run through by the end of the video. That was very original and ahead of its time honestly, not many video directors have the nerve to do that. I'm pretty sure Wild Side inspired other videos that came after it, like this one I'm embedding below. There really isn't one main theme throughout each video (in Normani's she said she wanted people to think "wow how did she do that?"), but instead, they chose individual visuals representing themselves. I feel like it worked. There are plenty of really nice transitions in the video - so I don't mind that the last part doesn't have one between the scenes, but really only rough cuts.

AlteKing Posted May 21, 2022 Posted May 21, 2022 I wonder when a video for Candy Paint will be ready though, but I'm excited for its release! DUI, like Fair from the description sounds like it would make more sense within the context of an entire album so maybe a preorder? She’s unpredictable with rollouts so let me not get ahead of myself lol. Per her album, that minimalist production is what suits her voice the most, her tone is silky and smooth and could get drowned over heavy production if not arranged right, even Candy Paint so far sounds like it highlights her voice without drowning it. She’s found her pocket me thinks

Normani is creating her own lane in music and that’s what’s taken so long but I have hope that it’ll be worth the wait.

The production elements making way for the interesting ad libs and breezy delivery…very Normani. That album needs to be out no later than August, it’s time.

shelven Posted May 22, 2022 Posted May 22, 2022 Oop at this thread suddenly being alive again. I'll be on a vacation this week with limited Wi-Fi and I'm honestly kind of excited to not have to think about or check when Normani might be coming Hopefully I'll bring the fanbase some good luck and she'll ironically give an official update while I'm not around to watch out for it
