those "viral" spotify charts aren't like the real charts though. They hardly mean anything. They can easily make another song the single if they wanted. I understand if they don't though because Candy Paint had some sort of semi-viral challenge on tiktok but to me it wasn't really big enough to bet on it to be the single so if they change it, I wouldn't be against it

Lol I agree! It's just that it's the only metric we can "measure" at this point when we compare how all of the songs are currently doing.

I'm hoping it'll be something other than Candy Paint, like All Yours, Still, or Big Boy. I wouldn't be opposed to dual singles so something gets worked over at Pop too. The only concern I have right now is the fact that they're holding onto 1:59 when it's clear it's not going to do ****. It's still stuck outside of the Top 40 at Urban for over a month now and Gunna is a MAJOR name on the format and usually sends all of his stuff (including features) up the charts pretty quickly…

To be fair, Gunna released his own song to radio a few weeks before 1:59 went and Tyla's jump was added around that time too. That's 3 gunna songs if you include 1:59. Even though the songs don't sound alike, most stations aren't going to play 3 songs from the same artist. It's just common sense to me that they would play Gunna's own song if they want to hear Gunna and even Tyla's song since she had such a big hit recently before 1:59 .

They can still send a different song to another format if they want to keep 1:59 alive on Urban. I think she has a few songs that will do well on Pop and Rhythmic.

That's on Normani's management and label then. They should've taken notice of Gunna already being plastered on Urban and pushed something else, especially when the entire album has a bigger single potential than 1:59…

So I guess, they are letting the « GP » pick the single. They are waiting for a song to go viral before investing in it. But they are gonna release a video for Candy paint, we don't know when tho. But do y'all think it's gonna help the song like that ??

I'm glad she got a better team but Mani still deserved a better rollout, like girl one week in and nothing? Drop a TikTok challenge/visual at least or just ONE MV ending off with teasing the future date of the rest of the visuals, just something to hype the fans or garner the GP's attention

Lydia is back in Paris so hopefully Normani will pop out for the rest of fashion week.

It'd be cool if she did some cute pop-up or one night only performances in small venues in major markets. Just give the people a little taste to build some hype.

I am so baffled.

Sis, really (as in REALLY) did a first-week rollout with...no rollout? Whew.

It's not lost on me that this is a soft launch and it's equally not lost on me that Mani most certainly doesn't have a huge budget for all the bells and whistles.

I get the sense they are deliberately presenting as edgy and intentional with their antics, but it's probably more making lemonade out of the lemons they've been dealt.

My issue is it's very risky hinging everything on whatever videos are coming. People are fickle af and if the timeline has moved on from the material, even a slay video may not pack enough of a punch to bring people back to the fold. Hell, not enough people even know the album is out as is.

I wish we had more context as to what's going on. If this is a contractual obligation ahead of a "mutual split" with the label, insider confirmation would be great for us to manage our expectations. If there's this master plan that will supposedly gag us, it'd be great to know to brace for it. Because this limbo actually feels like a version of the limbo that we all sat through in the six years before the album was announced and it's not helping her cause at all.

Yes, her status at RCA is genuinely confusing. Especially if we do get proper televised or online performances, music video(s), a tour etc. All things that require money and label backing for an artist like Mani. At least she finally got the album out to appease her diehard/core fans.

Yeah I feel like a lot of people are overcomplicating this. Her budget ran out, that's it. They spent a lot of money on Motivation and a lot of money on Wild Side and never really got a great return on investment on either of them. She admitted she recorded 150 songs for the album, with tons of them being with pretty high-profile producers and songwriters. By the time she got to 1:59, RCA probably just refused to keep advancing her money because they no longer had an expectation to recoup.

And then combine that with the fact that Normani hates social media, which means we were never going to get more natural content from her that doesn't require label money. This is exactly what I expected for her debut week and I lowkey kind of rolled my eyes whenever someone in here would insist that "the reason she's been so quiet for the last 9 weeks is because they're saving all the promo for the album debut week" :rip:

At least All Yours is pop&B perfection. If RCA wants their money back, they should be pushing that song without her permission

If they don't care for sales and charts neither should we.
