mothercreep Posted June 2 Posted June 2 When are we getting the track list 😭 Somebody leak it already 1
harmonizeme89 Posted June 2 Posted June 2 I can't believe we've waited so many years for an album and it looks like there's no physicals. So disappointing considering how much I love the album cover 1
Topaz Posted June 3 Posted June 3 Normani's bf is definitely destroying her cat. This is where all the sensual songs are coming from. I'd be chill too. 1 2
noemani Posted June 4 Posted June 4 Tbh it's just sad because I found myself being less excited for this album when I've waited for it for a whole 6 years lol. I love all the singles that are already out but with such a messy rollout I can't even be excited when her team or herself don't even seem to be. If this messy rollout doesn't end up in being a surprise visual album then I don't understand what's happening and it's sad. 4
Givemeyourcoat Posted June 4 Posted June 4 (edited) I think everybody needs to be patient. They are just tasting the water… she hasn't released any song in 2yo and now she is coming with an album with a defined genre (she did many genres and came from a pop band) which is rnb/ hip-hop. They have to reintroduce her to the pop crowd, this is why her team pays big pop twitter accounts to talk about the album. They are also introducing her to a crowd (r&b) that doesn't really know her aside WS. That's why she collaborated with Gunna 2 times. The reception for 1:59 was a bit poor cause it's new, she has to build a catalogue and a universe. Not everything has to be an instant success. Her team is promoting with playlist/ collabs / interviews with fashion magazines cause the Dopamine era has a signature look (the bang) / paying accounts to talk about her music or playing it. + she literally released a visual album teaser with 1:59 and Candy paint playing in the background. I understand y'all want performances but those will be very efficient only if one song goes viral on social media. Good news, Candy Paint audio did 1,4 M views in 3 days, let's see how it goes. I hope it will go viral but we have to be patient. The only thing that I don't understand is the no videos at all and her absence on social media but hey this is typical Normani. I say this for myself, I don't really care about success but she's giving "I'm retiring after this" energy. Which is why it's such a let down after all these years. 2

I mean being patient is something we can do for sure lol the thing is that when there's an album coming out in just few weeks there shouldn't be no testing the waters anymore. It just makes no sense when an album is supposed to be done and ready. I really doubt that her team is paying most of those account because most of them post about Normani because she brings a lot of engagement because of the anticipation of her album ( also because of the haters unfortunately ). I'm really not a chart guy so i couldn't care less about her songs doing good or not I'm here for the art and to support her. I just thought after all this wait we would have a proper rollout and live a proper era, Candy Paint not even having an announcement was my last straw lol. I really hope I'm just not seeing the bigger picture yet and that her team and herself gonna prove me wrongs in the next weeks but it's just really disappointing so far. Edit : By saying " i couldn't care less about the songs doing good " i don't mean that i don't want her songs to do good lol i don't want this to be misinterpreted, I really want the best for her career Edited June 4 by noemani
shelven Posted June 4 Posted June 4 3 hours ago, Givemeyourcoat said: I think everybody needs to be patient. They are just tasting the water… I don't mean to rag on you because I genuinely do admire the optimism, but a lot of us have heard this SO many times over the course of her career If a person keeps insisting they're "just testing the waters" after dipping their toes in the pool for the 7th time, people are eventually going to assume that person never plans on swimming. I've personally come to terms with the fact that neither she nor her team has any sort of coherent plan. I honestly wouldn't even care and would just be excited we're getting an album if it wasn't for the fact that I also don't have any hope we'll be getting a second album for a long time, if ever. The fact is that she clearly seems checked out. We can ask the chicken or egg question all day (did an unsupportive team cause her to check out, or did her checking out cause her team to stop bothering?) but the result is the same. She doesn't seem to particularly care that her debut album is finally coming out after all this time, so it's really hard to care as a fan when you don't see any passion from the artist. 7 3 1
rosesbloom Posted June 4 Posted June 4 she wants to be completely nonchalant & away from her own fanbase the signs are not looking good for the future. It puts concrete truth into the theories that the artist role was more pushed onto her and wants a life where she can be fully checked out of it 1

You give such interesting and valuable insight... Thank you. I never knew "signature looks" can play a role in things, but that does make sense. She does not have that large catalog or universe that Beyonce or Taylor has indeed. This really is the beginning stages. Now I appreciate the little details I did not before. The Dopamine logo. Her bangs (which I find cute and stylish). I see the aesthetics of it all. Edited June 4 by HenryHope 1 1
wildsidenormani Posted June 4 Posted June 4 what an unmitigated disaster this rollout has been just here for the music at this point 1 2 1
AFullMoonlight Posted June 4 Posted June 4 I didn't want to go back in forth with somebody in the CP thread, so here is my rant. Also, I've seen some of you come in here with the same thoughts. Not liking the rollout is one thing and I'm on the majority's side when it comes to that, but these getting dropped by the label comments are really starting to annoy me. It's like people are forgetting the state of the industry right now. A normal debut is between 20-30k units for a newer/lower tier artist WITH STREAMS and those numbers are considered good in this day. Several artist have done those numbers this year and have gotten praised. Somehow If N does that with 1% of the promotion those other artist got, it'll be a humongous flop and she's in danger of getting dropped by her label AND no other label is going to want to sign her? If Normani does leave RCA after this, it's more likely due to the fact that is a terrible label and not because they drop her. The reason their seems to be no physicals available first week is because of RCA and they have a track record of this. What is making people think the ROI is in a negative? The Motivation video? Motivation ended up being a platinum hit. The WS video? RCA didn't pay that 1 million in full and the song still ended up being a success. Its not like she's ever been promoted heavily unless you want to count social media hype and celebrity post. We can count on hand her TV performances and she hasn't been booked consistently since 2019. We haven't gotten an actual Music Video since 2021 as well. If RCA wanted to drop her, they could've did it while she was collecting dust last year. Why waste time and resources? I've seen other artist I follow not even get the same backing after recent flops from their labels. I'm talking zero playlisting and not even bothering to send songs to radio. I'm supposed to believe artist doing worse aren't bleeding red and can still carry on? To make myself clear, I think Normani/Team are at fault with her social media presence. I think they screwed up by announcing the album in February and she could've waited until 1:59's release date was concrete. I also don't understand why she couldn't have done some radio interviews for 1:59. The not announcing CP in the trailer video was a miss. Its almost understandable if they want to release the album to start heavy promo, but we are a week ahead and there's still crickets over there. It's to the point where I wonder if she'll even be able to book that BET awards performance I want to see. I hope what she said in that EW interview wasn't wishful thinking and they do actually have performances set up next week. Imagine that. An album release week with no performances. Its looking likely. I'm still excited about the album though. Nothing is going to deter that for me as that's always what I've wanted from her. A full body of work and she's delivering that at least. 6
AFullMoonlight Posted June 4 Posted June 4 Why did I just realize she literally has three music videos not including her duets? Waves, WS, and Motivation. 1

AFullMoonlight Posted June 4 Posted June 4 I'm actually not that far from L.A, but I'm not making that trip in this economy.

Ain't got no money for Normani lol — Different topic, considering the amount of times she has sent kisses to brazil this era I wish they would do a listening party over here too.
