Scorpioojay Posted April 27 Posted April 27 The Spotify streams aren't going to look good, and I hope that doesn't discourage some of you. We barely had promo until the day of the song's release, and it has no music video, which is where she shines. Idgaf if it doesn't go anywhere; the song is good, but look at all the factors that are preventing it from succeeding. Like I said, they need to release the music video, and she needs to do some interviews. 1
wildsidenormani Posted April 27 Posted April 27 so we didn't make it into the global or US spotify chart. the song is nowhere to be seen in the apple music top 100 either staying the hell away from this website today. i just know she's going to be dragged for failing to chart. good luck yall 4
Sad Beautiful Tragic Posted April 27 Posted April 27 Barely anyone knew the song was out and we really needed a video for maximum exposure.
Arianna Kylie Posted April 27 Posted April 27 normani is literally wiggling her way back in, everything is gunna be OKAY. when she's seen consistently again, does her promo rounds, etc. everything will be good. idk i'm not worried. 4

Delusional Posted April 27 Posted April 27 Is she forgetting we only have candy paint on our hard drives and not on streaming I- this girl

Honestly, consistency is the key especially now that she's mostly making rnb music. She needs to put out projects constantly and perform everywhere not just for big awards but also festivals. This is how the gp will connect to her music. 6

Performances are her strong suit and with consistency and visibility it can only go uphill from there. Her BBMA performance literally made love lies shoot to the top of billboard. Her being on tour and performing at festivals also made people pay attention even more. It's not impossible at all for her to succeed tremendously. They need to stay consistent. 2
remming Posted April 27 Posted April 27 I try to be positive but since the streams are bad I am going to be honest and say I wish we weren't getting a mainly starrah influenced debut album from Normani. I feel like the best rendition of her debut album already existed and luckily I have the songs saved
AFullMoonlight Posted April 27 Posted April 27 I'm really glad the album is dropping in six weeks. People will finally get to see who Normani is an artist, but promo every week needs to be a thing. We already got a confirmed video for CP. I'm perched. 4

I think this song not getting a big video/performances is for the best. The uptempo 2nd single with a big video will probably be much better received by her core fanbase and more casual listeners. 5
justifymythreads Posted April 27 Posted April 27 I think she may be releasing around May 17/24 because I think by that point it would redundant to let the hype for CP waste by not releasing it. I think we heard the 17th before but maybe they meant a single instead of the album. 1

I know it's not the same situation, but seems like everyone has very quickly forgotten that Fair literally didn't chart on the Hot 100 I'd love to be shocked, but I've been convinced for weeks that this isn't going to debut with numbers. And I truly couldn't care less as long as it doesn't cause RCA to delay the album again. I think she still has the potential to be a hitmaker long term, but that's only going to happen once she has a discography with more than a single digit number of songs. Almost every new big hitmaker of the last several years has become a hitmaker after they released a full album or at least a sizeable EP. Literally the only exception I can think of is Olivia, and she did it under very unique circumstances (combination of her Disney+ fanbase building up over time and all her romance drama propelling Drivers License into a massive cultural moment). Felt like a good time to bump this 5
EnoughSaid Posted April 27 Posted April 27 There's nothing surprising about this not charting, and they can't be surprised. It's a good song, still don't get releasing it at all let alone as first single. This is a strong album track. Bring on Candy Paint and another bop too 2
remming Posted April 27 Posted April 27 1 hour ago, shelven said: Felt like a good time to bump this Billboard is different than spotify and you know that. This should have charted in the top 200 in more than 1 country since it did have decent playlisting at least on the first day . But I like that everyone is being positive. I thought today everyone was going to complain but I see we're not doing that so I am back to positive land. I'm still excited for what's to come 2
Getlikemike Posted April 27 Posted April 27 Wow lol we're so cool calm and collected. All it takes is Normani releasing music to keep us from going insane twice a week…who woulda thunk it
Givemeyourcoat Posted April 27 Posted April 27 At least even tho the numbers are very low, we are gonna get the album. But Normani should seriously stop talking and thinking like she is too good for socials media. The statement « I'm was born during the wrong era » is dated. Damn just vlog and all. At least even if it doesn't help you to have more success your core fanbase will just adore the experience of your era. I can't believe she was the girl that once was on Awsomeness TV. I remember when they vlogged 5H rehearsing for their first VMA performance. We felt so close to them. She needs to do the same nowadays. 1
AFullMoonlight Posted April 27 Posted April 27 Didn't know Starrah was born on June 14th. Seems like everybody's birthday present will be this album. 1
Givemeyourcoat Posted April 27 Posted April 27 I like the QandA thing she did yesterday, she needs to do moreeee! 3

I don't think she think she's too good for social media, but I believe what she's been through has affected her perception of social media; so I get her being distant from it. You make a good point though, I just hope that over time, when she's ready, she opens up more. What I want from this era is for her to learn to trust her judgment, but also learn to compromise just a little bit. 3

I just think Normani team thinks that the support will automatically be there but they have miscalculated. Her songs need to be good as well as have widespread appeal. I think she has warped perception of what her fans want from her and thus have somewhat pushed moreso for the altR&B sound but she needs something a bit more upbeat. Beyoncé had the same thing happen for Dangerously in Love but was thankfully advised against it by her father and management.

It's really not that hard, she needs to serve uptempos with visuals that slay. But she's only given the people that once with Motivation (which was a huge moment) had she been consistent and kept dropping heat that would have worked out for her. Now Wild Side is the best thing she's ever done but I don't know why she's been releasing mostly midtempos and refusing to give the people what they actually want. Candy Paint is old to me now but that will be nice to see released and I really just want another strong uptempo off her to support this project.
Ms.cleo Posted April 27 Posted April 27 (edited) she had numerous claims of being a flop, other stans saying no one moved, no music video accompanying the song, 2 years straight of no music releases and a dream We love to see it Edited April 27 by Ms.cleo 5
