Aethereal Posted May 2 Posted May 2 (edited) One of the reasons I appreciate pure sales still, is because streaming can be deceiving with certain algorithms (autoplay and playlisting) while pure sales show that Lana's streams come from actual demand. (Even though you can still check the playlisting numbers yourself, the sales are the biggest piece of evidence.) Edited May 2 by Aethereal

She needs huge numbers

I understand that streaming is the way and that pure sales are useless outside of first two or three weeks but I was simply making a point that credits should be there too. Edited May 2 by Aethereal

Almost seems like it will be an album where she'll fly under the radar again. Just like with a few other of her previous albums

Aethereal Posted May 3 Posted May 3 What do you guys think of Lana's album covers? They are decent but not expectational like her music is.

The covers for BTD, UV, and NFR! are excellent imo. Honeymoon could've been just as good and the others besides Chemtrails are nice too. So many people have taken inspiration from the Born to Die aesthetic. One of Lana's own idols, Shania Twain, took some cues with her greatest hits cover just last week.

I don't like the UV cover though, it's too blank I'd replace it with another photoshoot. Something like this: Edited May 5 by Aethereal

I don't like the UV cover though, it's too blank I'd replace it with another photoshoot. Something like this: They took a lot of beautiful shots for this album but I do like it a lot more now when Neil Krug revealed a bit of backstory behind their choice in making it the album cover: Quote Before Del Rey — who was a fan of Pulp Art Book — met Krug in 2014, she thought he was dead. "All these years and we've never figured that one out," he says today. The two soon started shooting images for her third full-length, Ultraviolence, and ended up with over a thousand photos; they spotted the cover almost immediately, which happened to be the first shot Krug had taken. "It was understated, it was haunting," he says. "I wanted it to feel like the end of a horror film, like the last thing you see before the credits." https://www.billboard.com/music/music-news/photographer-neil-krug-lana-del-rey-tame-impala-album-art-interview-8549680/ I also really like how everything in the photo is somewhat shrouded in the shadows...except for some sunlight showing through on the top of her head and peeking out from the tree shrubs behind her. Feels like it matches perfectly with the album's theme. I also still want a photobook of all of the outtakes they ever took together...if only he'd stop teasing and just release it
ontherocks Posted May 5 Posted May 5 Seeing how Dua's alboom is currently tanking and how packed the charts are rn, I am glad that Lasso is coming out later this year

Also, I wonder how it would've gone had Dua stayed with TaP. They saved the Future Nostalgia era and really boosted her into MPG status during the covid lockdown.
Aethereal Posted May 5 Posted May 5 (edited) Nobody cares when Lana bombs, she is generally well liked in here. Also I love Dua but her career is full of gimmicks, heavy playlisiting, autoplay and throwing her features (which are also in other albums) in her +25 track album to boost the sales. Also Beyonce's recent country album was very front-loaded so that "country trendy music" for pop stars is not gonna happen. I don't think Lana will outperform Tunnel with this album. I agree but lighter hair has served her so well in pretty much every other look in the past month. It really reminds people of the more theatrical styles she used to have. She knows this one was thee pose of the night https://www.instagram.com/honeymoon/p/C6t8on3Ornm/
