Oh that'd be a best case scenario...but I'd be fine if she only snagged AOTY and SZA swept everything else. This girl has been pumping out AOTYs all her career and it'd be remiss to continuously keep her out.

Oh, not in Alternative but in the other categories she's up for, she is a strong frontrunner. Personally I think Lana dominated the Alternative categories this year but I feel like there is still a stigma attached to her name because she's huge with mainstream listeners. Also wonder if they submitted SYTH at all...they pushed it on alt radio but I always felt like it was more pop-leaning.

I think she had six submissions and five became nominations. If I am not mistaken CN failed in the video category. SYTH was not submitted

The only time she really nailed a short film was Ride...now that should've won all the VMAs and Grammys back then. No other short film music video she put out has matched it since then.

I'm glad she didn't continue doing it since she did NA, Ride, Tropico. Lord, she started to really feel herself a bit too much. I think she has learned her lesson now. Nobody is interested in these long ass videos these days

She still does it even if they're not actually short films. The Freak underwater scenes, the Doin' Time dance on the beach, Chemtrails werewolf transitions...it's like she's allergic to just sticking with a song's actual runtime. Long winded for no reason at all.

Yup but thankfully her budget has been cut compared to BTD days so we're lucky not to experience these travesties way too often

True and even those videos look like masterpieces compared to Sweetest Pie or Karma where it's just splashed with special effects. After all these years, she still has fairly solid video treatment ideas.

Nah. I used to love NIN when I was an angsty teen. I truly don't like Trent trying to produce popgirls. Hell, even his albums suck for a long time now. 

 

Speaking of, I think an album similar in sound From The Choirgirl Hotel or Strange Little Girls by Tori could work, but I think she's in good hands in general with Jack

As long as they just stick to being weird in the studio, the results are usually great. Love Margaret and Wild at Heart but I don't think I could sit through a whole album of songs like that.

LOL! I was tempted to say something about that before you made this post but I didn't do it. 

I disliked the Ride video a lot. Couldn't see her with those ugly men and it was a whole mess on other stuff too.

If she picked someone that looked like Don Draper I wouldn't mind but yeah. 

Ride is a top 3 Lana song for me, arguably the top 1 which makes it ironical but yeah. 

 

I liked the NA video though.

 

Videos are totally out fashion now their contribution is no where near as it used be years ago.
