First, Gaga herself announced the single before Joker premiered. Since there were no pre-release screenings, they couldn't have known the audience's reaction in advance—they could only rely on their own opinions if they even saw the film before its debut at the Venice Festival. Second, she began teasing LG7 as early as December of last year. The album was completed by May, and she even shared a snippet during the Chromatica Ball special, which ended with the "LG7 GAGA RETURNS" announcement. So, a single release in October wasn't exactly out of step with what fans were already expecting. It's time to accept that her team does not match her greatness. Tbf, there's been some talk that the studio wasn't happy with the sequel but figured audiences would eat it up anyway. That alongside the fact that Todd clearly intended for the movie to piss off fans of the first and basically be a huge middle finger to the current film/studio culture, I think they may have had some inkling that the film could underperformed post-filmimg and closer to release. I dont think anyone (aside from probably Todd) expected the film to be so completely DOA at the box office, but I think they sensed something was potentially off. 1

You're right and that does make sense and maybe it's really wishfull thinking. I just found it pretty strange how, in this day and age, she didn't have the music video done and ready to go with the song. The song being released so close to Halloween was also not a great idea. So what I think could've happened, but is also definitely in the realm of tin-foil hat conspiracy theory is the following: they had decided on a song to serve as the lead and then decided to switch gears and just release something as fanservice. This would explain how the music video was only recorded in october when she had the entire year to do it, and also why it wasn't ready to go (and there where rumours of her recording music videos earlier). So maybe they always planned on starting the era as soon as it did but switched singles after DWAS smashing/JFAD bombing. But this is probably just putting too much credit into her team lmao. I guess if we find out she did record visuals earlier than october my suspicion would be slightly more reasonable. 4

The fact she is still silent about the whole album is concerning I mean… Disease was preceded by a massive hit song and a comic book sequel. What else could have been done? At the end of the day the music has to connect.
MonsterNavy Posted Saturday at 12:45 AM Posted Saturday at 12:45 AM I know I posted about this just a few days ago but I think LG7 wont be out by february its not a bad thing as long as we get a new single by feb. I think it will be pushed back to mid-end of march 1 1

The song may not be her best performing yet, but it is already showing much better longevity than Stupid Noise. Let's hope the album follows the same path (I still think Chroma is one of her best albums, but there are so many meh songs in it). I keep dreaming about her releasing Alice, Replay or even 911 as the lead. I bet Chromatica would be performing much better than it is right now. 2
Artur Posted Saturday at 12:48 AM Posted Saturday at 12:48 AM Also, the album yet to be announced + released makes sure that Disease will still get nice boosts over time. A bit nervous to see what will happen now that it's out of TTH, but it may not effect its numbers that much.

Colmillo Posted Saturday at 12:59 AM Posted Saturday at 12:59 AM I wouldn't mind if she delays it until March if she releases the third single and a promo single before that 1

MadMax12 Posted Saturday at 01:21 AM Posted Saturday at 01:21 AM They better not waste the opportunity to promote the next single at the Grammy's with a big explosive performance. She has been playing it safe for 10 years, we need old Gaga back 3

I dont expect any of the future singles to smash but its fine as long as the music is going to serve like disease and we already have dwas anways

At no point was it ever going to catch on with playlisting, etc. with literally hours of time to be promoted with the holiday. Whatever, luckily DWAS has saved the LG7 era so far by acting as the actual lead now anyway. Spill. I said it was gonna bomb if it wasn't released Oct 18th, and that's exactly what happened. It needed a week to catch up on playlisting and get the word out so it can appear on the playlists of many halloween parties, and still many people don't know that Disease exists. Her team tried but flopped here 1

They usually go all out for the "right before the album" single. Even now with DWAS, they definitely had something planned before (other than JFAD hype). If it is the TW collab, it will for sure do numbers. But I hope she goes solo one more time, even if her solo efforts are usually not the songs with more commercial potential. 2
Peroxide Posted Saturday at 02:27 AM Posted Saturday at 02:27 AM God bless the fans that listen and engage with the jazz material. I do genuinely wish I could enjoy it authentically but I just never clicked with any of her projects… maybe outside of her cover of The Joker and Bamg Bang - both were moments. I would love Gaga to do something not too dissimilar to Dua's "Live at the Royal Albert" release. I think fans would appreciate something like that. 1
