I legitimately can not believe someone created an album like this and it became their lowest-selling album, when it is one of the most fascinating and thought-provoking albums I have ever heard. I have always believed Kylie is a great songwriter, but her pen was on fire on this album. Just look at the material: 'And I wonder wonder why I'm no longer fooled by your disguise I'm sorry that you are I pity all the pretensions of you And now I start anew I wish my way Through the years' 'To know the power of wealth and poverty To taste every moment and try everything To be hailed as a hero, branded a fool Believe in the sacred and break every rule To give in to pleasure with no boundaries Living in chaos and harmony To feel the touch of a man, a woman's caress To know the limit of torture and tenderness These are the dreams of an impossible princess (Of an impossible princess)' 'Lured into this den, it's bitter And I want sweetness again A taste that I agree with Get me past these perils and to my Eden Where the silence is a comfort Where there is no one else Where I'll be up from under Can uncurl my self Too many, too much, too hard Help me This time I went too far' 'I'm suffocated with desire I need to save me from myself I ache for great experience There's a riot in my senses Time and space and hurt and tears are not enough Love and light and faith and words are not enough I'm not happy drunk til I'm drunken Till you take all of me' 'I see them all smiling Those all around me Tend to my wounds and alert my senses It would be nice I'm not here I'm dreaming Holding on Time has no meaning All of it wasted Smothers till there is no more air When will it be that I can breathe again I'm waiting in the void lost in limbo' Yep, her pen game was on point during that album IP in general is such a fascinating album, especially in its portrayals of ambition and anxiety. It's a little rough around the edges, but that's what I love about it. It really feels like reading a page of someone's diary. The UK critics just couldn't stand to see the SAW princess trying new things and expressing herself. On the other hand, the Australian (and even the American) critics understood what she was going for. It's a shame it flopped, but I feel like it needed to happen to make people miss pop Kylie. I've seen someone make this point in another forum and I totally agree with it: IP and Light Years are sister albums. You can't have one without the other.

ithinkheknowsoutsold Posted September 25, 2022 Posted September 25, 2022 Many a time I have thought Body Language could've been as big as Fever with a slightly different rollout and Kylie not rejecting a certain song. In a perfect world, the rollout would've looked like this: - First single: Toxic (Kylie's Version) - Second single: Slow (Europe + Australia)/Red Blooded Woman (North America) - Third single: Obsession - Fourth single: Chocolate - Fifth single: Loving Days (North America + Australia)
JCsNumba1Fan Posted September 25, 2022 Posted September 25, 2022 You guys! I really liked Enjoy Yourself! Kylie’s first half is great because it’s basically the singles, but the second half was mid. I didn’t know she had two songs called “Love at First Sight,” but I’m glad she corrected that error with one of the best pop songs of all time in 2002. I fux with pre-90s Kylie, I guess!

IP is self-discovery, doubt, taking risks, making mistakes and learning from them. LY is what comes after. When you've gotten your **** together, found yourself and are ready to truly experience happiness. I know she didn't write Spinning Around, but it's the song that best describes what I'm talking about: Quote Traded in my sorrow for some joy that I borrowed From back in the day Threw away my old clothes, got myself a better wardrobe I got something to say I'm through with the past, ain't no point in looking back The future will be And did I forget to mention that I found a new direction And it leads back to me? The mistakes that I've made have given me the strength To really believe And no matter how I take it, there's no way I'm gonna fake it 'Cause it's gotta be real I've got nothing left to hide, no reason left to fight 'Cause the truth's given me A new freedom inside, getting rid of my desire Do you like what you see? One of the best pop girl meta moments, and nobody ever really acknowledges it. The whole song is just her manifesting her comeback. A When I'm Gone tea (except it actually worked) Edited September 25, 2022 by ATWK

A When I'm Gone tea (except it actually worked) I have thought about it many times, it's a cosmic coincidence the way this song so perfectly describe Kylie's comeback. That's why I think Spinning Around is one of the best pop girl comeback songs of all time, on par with Believe by Cher.
