Yup, seems inevitable. Way up on streams compared to last year (think the Mariah defrosting meme has helped people feel comfortable to stream Xmas music earlier and earlier).

if it just repeated what it got last year it would end the year on 600m, it looks to surpass that by at least 10m barring any change in trend (or steaming days of the week difference having a serious adverse impact or a significant playlist position change). It’ll end the year with more streams than stronger and more annual streams than any other song (was the same last year).

im most interested in seeing SCYHM’s increase. Last year did 40m, it might go to at least doing 60m this year if not in the 70m range based on its start. We shall see!!

The interesting thing about SCYHM is that it has already passed Mariah, Ariana, JHud song and that was released a whole year before. Right now that is at 71 Million and SCYHM is at 76 Million or 81 Million with live version combined. So those say it’s just cuz of Ariana is not necessary true.

I’ve been seeing a lot of artists do “themed EPs” recently - often with a new song amongst classics, i know Kelly doesn’t have many “hits” while with Atlantic, but I wonder if she will do something like that down the line. I’ve also seen it used for new material before and after releasing an album. Could’ve been an interesting way of releasing chemistry instead of the drip feeding of songs. I.e “grief”, “acceptance” and “payback” as ideas

Boom.

How exciting! It’s not showing up on her homepage for me yet (maybe regional issues), and a bit strange to release on a Tuesday? But yay I’m so glad it’s a mix as I said they should mix and match some albums!

I listened to it in order 3 times already and it flows nicely! Smart move to get new streams on both albums and capitalize on Christmas monthly listeners. Might not do anything or it might get some new ears on the songs. Songs that need a little help. Also they are pushing “Glow”. It’s the first on this playlist and it’s on a bunch of Xmas playlists now

I’m also really pleased with the tracks they chose to put on it:

• Glow has been bubbling just under taking off on its own (for MFT equivalent)

• IWGU had the Kelly Clarkson show exposure but the deluxe tracks would have been lucky to hit 1m by end of 2024 :rip: without a bit of focus on them, so I’m glad this one is gonna get some traction (hopefully)

• IBTLALLC has been doing REALLY well on streaming this season so far (along with RATCT), like really good - both currently better than Glow this season. So capitalising on that was smart.

• FKOH recently fell off after it was removed from a major Spotify playlist - and focuses on similar positive relationship feelings that people vibe with when it comes to UTT.
• Blessed - gets a lot of attention on tiktok (probably just for a snippet) but nothing has translated to streams, so the attention on streaming is helpful.

• magic - my personal favourite of chemistry (excluding DTY which should’ve been lead 🙈), definitely needs more attention - also not sure it would be a single so really glad it’s going to get a moment of algorithm attention.

also, let us not forget, this EP will probably have seasonal repeated plays in the future - even if they aren’t overly significant, probably next year following tracking would be interesting to look at these particular tracks from chemistry.

Just had a chuckle to myself how i was thinking of chemistry + mol mood ep but the Christmas mixture ep is probably really smart as it might trick the algorithm that people listen to her other songs that weren’t singles or Christmas songs too.

So I chuckled when I thought of a future ep mixing the 3 albums: meaning of chemistree :gaycatina1:

but as much as I have complained at Atlantic, this was a small thing they could’ve done and they did it well (Better than I imagined with bringing Xmas in), only questions are on the Wednesday release + was not including one of the bigger tracks a deliberate choice as they’re already on most major playlists?

probably would’ve swapped magic and iwgu in the tracklisting as a personal preference in wanting extra attention on what I think is pop perfection :gaycat4:

If this EP does help with the streaming, they should do a divorce Xmas one too with chemistry songs mixed in with - MCB, MCTTOIUTK and CCE. @Godfrizilla had a great idea of putting it with skip this part, lighthouse, goodbye. :jonnycat:

For those interested in seeing the impact this ep has on her daily numbers…

last daily update number before release day:

• Glow + 34,397

• I won’t give up + 3,428

• it’s beginning to look like Christmas + 45,551

• favorite kind of high + 21,345

• blessed + 5,526

• magic + 4,785

As you can see, IBTALC is doing excellently this season, FKOH has dropped pretty much off a cliff from what it used to gain but is still doing very well compared to other chemistry tracks.

id expect the Xmas ones to naturally increase as we approach Xmas, but the chemistry ones would be unlikely to gain significantly without Xmas music (that said, lighthouse seems to have been gaining 2k extra daily since Xmas season started). So we shall see what impact this ep has on those 3 chemistry tracks, and whether Glow gets some extra focus when playlists update on Friday.

When I first heard that they were doing this, that was my assumption, but this is smarter. No one wants to feel sad on Christmas (well, some of us do, lol).

Lettuce pray they don't abandon the era in the New Year. Down to You could kill with a feature and a music video.

Literally what I’m praying for :jonnycat:

keep thinking of what I’d do for the rest of the era:

• definitely service down to you as a single - whether with a feature or not (I guess with a feature they’d rerelease the album like they did with PBP to sneak it into track listing for overall certifications haha)

• id be tempted to put that’s right out as a single in the approach to the summer - get it on a commercial and it’ll be a summer song for sure

• don’t know what I’d do about lighthouse given how it’s not really taken off on streaming despite radio and high profile performances :gaycat6:

next era they should focus on finding a single - even if not written by Kelly - as singles drive the success of an era in streaming age.

i’d encourage her team to look at the new young talent coming out of Nashville. So many good songs that could easily cross the pop-country barrier with a more pop tinged production. From a personal point of view, I’d love her to write/work with Sophia Scott and Ingrid Andres as examples (both are also big fans)

Not viral but “gets a lot of attention” for a random album track - especially a Xmas one. Currently had 28m creator reach impressions and 11.5m views

for context:

• me 10.1m views

• FKOH 12.3m views

• HBS 12.2m views

• mine 6.4m views

• rock hudson 4.2m views

• IHL 4.8m views

• RFC 3.9m views

• lighthouse 0.3m views

• roses 0.57m views

• chemistry 0.1m views

• that’s right 0.25m views

• down to you 0.9m views

• MLWSWY 19.6m views

for added context of how WLW was a missed single opportunity:

• 186m views on tiktok

Soooo, Spotify updated early today. It seems the EP has had a bit of an impact in first day (difference between the daily update for day before):

• Glow + 44,667 (+ 10,280)

• I won’t give up + 6,988 (+ 3,560)

• IBTLALLC + 47,218 (+ 1,667)

• FKOH + 25,157 (+ 3,812)

• Blessed + 9,033 (+ 3,507)

• Magic + 7,581 (+ 2,796)

will be interesting to see if there’s more of a bump in the chemistry tracks as Xmas approaches

Does sound extremely similar. Curious that it’s an Atlantic artist. I doubt KC will do anything as there was that Already Gone knock off (not Halo) from Italy that they didn’t do anything about

Damn, that song is almost identical LOL!

The struggle is that both songs (and Mariah's AIWFCIY) borrow heavily from Phil Spector's "Wall of Sound."

Interesting. I was told Glow was the focus track this year (hence the spot on the EP). I assumed Stappleton would be there, but maybe not unless more performances are announced later.
