That's genuinely my favorite opening Kellyoke from her. The live version of the song hits harder for me than the studio.

Also, we finally got a music video for the era :eli:

The live part is great, she’s so good live!

given how much talk there is about her weight loss, it would stand to reason that a music video for lighthouse would actually garner a lot of (relative) attention. Anyways, glad to have Kelly on our screens daily again :gaycat4: the nothing but Clarkson channel giving us content :WAP:

IWGU popped up to #120 overall on iTunes. They should make it the shows theme song tbh for commercials

I guess it’s somewhat promo sensitive. DTY is still in there too, which is interesting as well - not that iTunes means much anymore but still an interesting thing to watch :)

They’re *okay*, nothing to really shout from the rooftops about. I think their album track dailies are stronger than mol when that was released, but the “singles” lag behind what LSS was doing.

Spotify streaming numbers rely quite heavily on playlisting, and knock-on effect from playlisting. So all the songs that were “focus track” playlisted on new music friday (ydmmc and rock hudson - deluxe v standard) got a boost and pushed on other playlists too. Rock Hudson gets about the same number of dailies as roses, IHL and RFC (and FKOH Guetta version) - all bout 8-10k daily, which kinda shows none of those had an overly enduring legacy from the initial nmf playlisting, but large enough to be ahead of the rest (about 5k), with the exceptions of high road and down to you which both do about 8k too. High road definitely benefits from a higher track listing placement as when both versions of the album have been released it’s gained more than down to you, only for down to you to overtake it a few weeks later both times, but both do show somewhat significantly higher dailies than the rest of the non-focus/prerelease tracks.

with all that in mind, lighthouse was *the* non focus track with the highest dailies, quite significantly, and has been getting more than rock Hudson for a while now. Obviously we don’t have insight to the demographics and number of streams per person but on a basic level it made sense to push it as single. That said, without playlisting it won’t get more than just a bit of an increase over the rest of the album. Playlists generally update on Fridays. Also based on its history, I imagine on Monday’s update (Tuesday evening numbers) it’ll be doing just shy of 20k daily (if nothing changes), which would be about the same as me’s dailies (a bit lower than me) and fewer streams than fkoh and mine (both of which benefit from good playlisting historically - in comparison to the album but not in comparison to normal singles)

you can look through the numbers on my spread, just go to the tab “chemistry tracking” (it’s all a bit messy) https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1VieaybKINqXaDP8gZiW1bXnJ6Ku7yO4XM83yyzv_oCQ/edit

On the point of choosing what to pick, it would kinda stand to reason that outside of something unexpected, other than lighthouse, the only other tracks worth pursuing that haven’t had a moment in the sun would be DTY and high road, or give FKOH a proper push after Xmas. Anyways, just a bit of number fun

So lighthouse was quite considerably lower than I anticipated with todays update: 14k (13,942), it looks like it’s got a minor bump due to exposure but won’t likely do anything unless it’s playlisted or has a viral moment

I miss getting Kellyoke's at 9AM EST. :noparty:

Thoughts on the Christmas announcement that will be on TKCS next week?

I think it will be a Christmas show or shows in NYC.

Posted

It could just be about her performing on Wynonna's Christmas special.

The fire in her belly is back! The Patty cover was amazing and the billy porter interview was so good, she felt fully present and informed

The billy porter duet was a mess. He clearly wanted to out sing her and Kelly always let’s her duet partner shine. But it sounded all over the place

Unpopular opinion: Billy sounded great and Kelly, as you put it, wanted to let him shine, and ended up sounding all over the place. I grew up in church listening to a LOT of big gospel choirs and Billy was definitely on point. Kelly, not so much.

It reminded me of the Fantasia duet from the Idol Christmas special years ago. Fantasia was eating, while Kelly was just nibbling.

I almost completely agree. One of the few genres Kelly falls short in is gospel with sections where improvisation and creativity are required. During the Billy duet, she just sustained the same note 7 times and ended with a different riff only once really. I mean, slay, but that kinda made it a bit repetitive and messy while Billy was doing his thing (which isn't really my taste either but who cares).

I slightly disagree with the Fantasia duet, though, i think towards the end Kelly started properly going for it, but there were also certain points where she would just sustain the same note a few times. It is what it is.

The New Attitude cover slapped, though. Vocally, she is in a fantastic place. What a queen.

You're right. Kelly is very sustained and almost controlled. Gospel is more about just feeling the music and vibing. It's definitely different strokes for different folks, lol!

When she's solo she can nail it, like Every Christmas. But even that isn't as free as gospel should be.

I’m saving all my coins for a possible Christmas show in NYC. Give it to us, Queen. :weeps:

I was expecting a NYC gig but this is cool. The show did sell *really* well so can’t blame her and her team for capitalising on it! I think each show averaged $1m+ in ticket sales!

I hope the February date indicates some level of coordination for other promo (but I know I’m deluded so it probably is just when she has a break in her schedule)

I also love how they said “global superstar” in the video when she hasn’t performed outside of the USA since she’s been with Atlantic and the pbp international leg was cancelled due to pregnancy :bird:

Spoiler

Come to London, queen

or at least do toronto 🙈

Don’t count on it.

UTT already in her top 5 on spotify and it’s not even November. Have a feeling that it’ll quite dramatically pass the 600m total that would indicate the same progress as last year for year end. Expect it to get 150k dailies on Spotify tomorrow already. No track from chemistry has received that for a LONG time :deadbanana2:

SCYHM Will also top 50k dailies and probably go past its 110m equivalent total by year end. Strong early start to the year.

I suppose only spanners in the work at this stage are:

xmas Eve is a Sunday (biggest Xmas song day but worst day of the week - significantly - for streaming), whether or not they push glow (or another song) and playlisting impacts when they’re all updated
