Goodbye should have been the closing track that replaced That’s Right on the standard. Not sure how that was missed

That's Right is just that track that shows you she's moving on to better things. I don't think anything else would really standout the way it would.

I felt the same during album release week. I even said that it felt like an epilogue in a song. That's Right just feels like Kelly going to the beach months after the dust settles and getting into a better head space. Plus the song taking place at the beach just ties into the water imagery/metaphors throughout the album so well. It's a pretty clever closing track when you think about it that way.

Kelly looked like a skinny legend in her live from today. Also Goodbye might be my fav Chemistry song, even including the standard tracks. Maybe second to RH. Maybe first idk, I’m obsessed. Without a doubt should’ve been the last song on the standard. 1. Because it’s a perfect closing track and 2. That’s Right stinks.

Same, I’ve not got into goodbye, but I appreciate everything everyone has said about it thus far. That said, for me, up to now, dyk is the only one I’m going back to (other than roses which I think is incredible)

From Spotify, ydmmc got 3,826 partial day streams from being focus track (the others had fewer than 1,000 so we don’t know their precise numbers). Based on previous songs for this era, it should open with around 150,000

 

(RFC had 3,689 and opened with 132,072)

 

that said, I imagine it might be less due to big misses in big markets. We shall see, but I’m intrigued to see if there’s much of a jump for the other album songs

Yeah it's a bit strange especially since gave us the less specific/emotionally raw songs because she wanted to protect her kids.

She said here that it was recorded 4 years ago, when she was still married so it wasn't actually written about the divorce

Yeah I agree. River’s inclusion just makes no sense. I think chemistry as an album could have benefitted with a song about her role as a mother after the divorce. A River (and Remy) feature on a song about that would make perfect sense. I’m surprised she didn’t have a song like that. Basically a non-Christmas version of “Blessed” would have been an amazing fit on the album.

Absolutely. I don't listen to that's right very often but it conjures up some happy vibes when it pops up. Sonically a creative choice and I think it suits the closing track better than another 'goodbye' kinda track.

Yep, it's strange because even though I get Kelly's intention in being inclusive with River, it doesn't come across that way.

lighthouse and rock hudson are definitely going to be on her regular tour sets going forward, I think.
