Just checked her YouTube in New Zealand (normally how we find the releases a bit early) and there’s nothing. I guess next week we’ll have a focus track for the deluxe edition.

 

Will see how roses fairs with playlist updates at midnight. According to Songstats, it currently has a playlist reach of 14.2m on Spotify. The majority of those will be nmf equivalents, so it will drop off significantly (unless it gets on top hits etc), but what is worth looking for is how it does with the other editorial playlists.

As expected, it's been removed from the vast majority of its playlists, but it's made some good headway as an album track. The deluxe album is on course to reach 100m spotify by the end of the year if the daily streams stay roughly the same - accounting for roses to drop to a similar rate to ihl and for the other new songs to reach 1.5m each. 

 

That said, obviously, a single push - from streams, lighthouse is the standout one from standard edition - or a very good reception to the deluxe would change that course.

With the UAW announcing an unprecedented strike against the biggest three auto-makers (for the first time in history), it's not a good look to be anti-union right now especially with Kroger's upcoming merge with Albertsons (and we're already fighting the shitty terms of the contracts atm). Kelly being pro-union is going to help her long term so I wouldn't worry about her show currently.

Very random request, I really hope her team tidy up her spotify releases section. They recently hid the single releases for:

fkoh

rfc

 

(they kept ihl and the remix releases)

 

For me personally, I'd love them to hide the individual releases that were then released as remix bundles (like heat and the idy ones), and put them under the "other releases" tab like they have with the non explicit hte. It'd also make sense to do the same with the dated track by track commentary for stronger.

 

(you can see it's a bizarrely quiet time)

About now would be a good time to post some teasers on socials for the new songs from the deluxe edition, we’ll have NZ’s release pretty soon.

 

Also, I *think* (I don’t have 100% comprehensive data cos of when I was in vegas for the residency), but I *think* the streaming update from Sunday is her weakest one since the chemistry era started - first day with no song over 50k daily Spotify streams (weekends are always worse in any case). That said, roses will hit 1m with tomorrow’s update. I love that little earworm (so does my partner - he also loves my mistake - same writers I guess).

 

A side note, despite my (loud) frustrations - and other people’s - I actually think Kelly really wanted the era to do well. If you remember how much she kept saying she wanted FKOH to be a single, and the fact she actually did a pretty solid tour of podcasters - just neither translated to much success for an individual song. I would love to see Atlantic take a strategic single move. They experimented with MoL and didn’t read the data, but got it right (ironically), streaming wise at lease, with b&b. Hopefully they have learnt a lot and do something smart: They have the material to do so - and access to data from sites that don’t publish it (although at my show in vegas, Kelly did say her team said lighthouse was taking off on streaming too - Spotify’s public data backs this up).
 

I think we’ll all be curious to see if they do push a deluxe track for the rerelease, or whether they dive straight into something from the standard edition as the “next single” (or do nothing).

 

Given the missed opportunities for a summer single (DTY or FKOH), I’d probably look at releasing a deluxe track as a single (if the material warrants), then allow Xmas to do its stuff (SCYHM will organically gain on last year’s 40m), and then, as I said, from the streaming data, I’d release lighthouse as it looks like it would actually be the most successful if given the chance of exposure on a nmf focus/release. It would also be smart to go in for a single in January due to radio’s need for something fresh, and possibly more importantly, to capitalise on all of the ways the algorithms will push a new Kelly single on people who played her Xmas material.

Yeah I have no idea what Atlantic is waiting for... why release a deluxe version of the album at this time of year and not capitalize on it by pushing a 2nd single to radio and drive some streaming numbers? Regardless of whether there is a writer's strike or not, they don't need television to push a single and they can use this opportunity to try and experiment other promotional formats and see if they can get any traction that way. They definitely missed out on an opportunity to push a summer single DTY/FKOH especially FKOH considering it was getting very consistent streams as an album track with little to no promotion.

They easily could have rejigged her schedule given the talk show can't start filming yet to get her to do some overseas promotion in international markets as well especially she has lost a lot of traction internationally since the PBP era. 

So frustrating to know all these good quality songs on the album are not being pushed :(
