Julianna Calm Down Posted June 29, 2023 Posted June 29, 2023 The critics reviews for chemistry have been pretty stellar!
Julianna Calm Down Posted June 29, 2023 Posted June 29, 2023 Had a weak moment yesterday and ended up in the Kelly vs. Beyoncé vocalist thread. The delusion in there is ripe, chile. Kinda regret getting into it, but these Beyoncé fans are something else I’ll tell ya
xDiamondx Posted June 29, 2023 Posted June 29, 2023 Beyonce is a phenomenal vocalist, I think the issue is that stan culture is every bit as toxic as the rest of the world. Impossible for people to view things objectively seems to be the favorable trend. 1

I agree with you, it gets toxic and petty and just a discussion about the most trivial details. It’s also always black or white, either / or. It can never be two things at once or in parallel which is frustrating, but the human condition many times I guess. Kelly is the best vocalist and singer, imo because she always sings no matter what and because she emotes like no one else.

They're in entirely different lanes is why I don't compare the two vocalists. That's the objective way to view them but personally I enjoy Kelly more, due to my history with her. Stans will always make it personal because their obsession is more important than the actual person, hence Eminem coining the term.

However, Kelly is a Vocalist and a solid writer with a she could be my friend personality. Vocally, it really is not objectively close. Not knocking either one, they just excel at different things. Not sure why Beyonce stans feel the need for Beyonce to be #1 at every category, but Beyonce is in another league popularity wise, so not sure where the inferiority complex is coming from when she is like the top 1-2 female entertainers. I love Kelly, but being real, we weren't even sure the album sales would be top 10...

Which makes the whole album absolutely iconic. The way it’s packaged and presented, on the surface it’s like the antithesis to My December. But below the surface it’s probably deeper and darker than MD.

The delusion in there is ripe, chile. Kinda regret getting into it, but these Beyoncé fans are something else I’ll tell ya I mean, they have every right to feel that way though. Beyoncé is probably one of the most underrated vocalists in music relative to how damn good she is. In terms of raw vocal technique, precision, agility, melisma, staccatos, etc., she's just beyond insane from a technical side. However, most people just think of Beyoncé as a good performer in terms of choreo and stage presence, which is a big reduction of what Beyoncé is capable of. This isn't the case for Kelly. Everyone knows Kelly can sing her a** off. Does she not get enough attention as an artist? Absolutely. But, people all know she can sing. That's the thing she is literally known for. That's not true for Beyoncé. A lot of people just think of her as an artist with great stage presence, so I get why her stans get annoyed to hell and back when people really diminish her vocal talents. I don't know another major pop girl that can pull off something as technically precise as this vocal run. Kelly and Beyoncé are both the top vocalists in the game that have very different schools of thought with regard to vocals. So comparing them is weird. I think it's weird when Kelly stans obsess over trying to diminish Beyoncé's insane gift to put Kelly on top and I also find it strange when Beyoncé stans get pressed about Kelly getting shine on her voice. We can all have our preferences while appreciating them both. 2

stoopidjenna Posted June 30, 2023 Posted June 30, 2023 I thought this would be from the album release thing Kelly went to but I guess it was a different event? It's cute but it would be more exciting if Kelly were in it

BravoTangoWhiskey Posted June 30, 2023 Posted June 30, 2023 (edited) I really hope they “release” a single in the two weeks to capitalise on album release and summer. Radio both sides of the Atlantic is itching to play a single of hers. bbc radio 2 played fkoh again yesterday. my guess is down to you, fkoh or rock hudson would be the consideration. personally would love: down to you, then magic in september and lighthouse november, but i think 3 more singles from standard edition might be too hopeful. but they need to send something to radio despite mine doing well in hot ac still Edited June 30, 2023 by BravoTangoWhiskey Correcting typos 2
Iverson Posted June 30, 2023 Posted June 30, 2023 (edited) I didn't want FKOH, but it's the best option at the moment, it screams to be a single, they keep shooting everywhere like they did in MOL, then they end up choosing the wrong single, FKOH screams to be a single and I think it would please the majority. I'd rather DTY ft. 1
black dust Posted June 30, 2023 Posted June 30, 2023 I also think DTY is the better choice. It's a breakup song which how most people would expect from her post divorce album 1
Heartbeat Song Posted June 30, 2023 Posted June 30, 2023 I'm fine with fkoh or dty. rh is a little too midtempo for what I think they need for the summer although the pbp lyrics would help get it attention, so I could be convinced. Does anyone have any insight into when/how they would announce the official second single?
