mrmitch31 Posted April 25, 2023 Posted April 25, 2023 I think Red Flag Collector was my favorite, it starts off really cool and is a fun ride. Also That’s Right was cute too. She mentioned that was where she’s at right now and it sorta goes like “that’s right I like the beach that’s right ___ toes in the sand…let the tide wash you out”
mrmitch31 Posted April 25, 2023 Posted April 25, 2023 My favorite lyric was I think from my mistake…”I put the problems in incognito so I can be the hero” or something along those lines
mrmitch31 Posted April 25, 2023 Posted April 25, 2023 Also she has a lyric that alludes to him cheating and her finding out when she was gone he brought her around
Ab1818 Posted April 25, 2023 Posted April 25, 2023 I have so many questions, but also reading everyone’s posts and responses is so exciting.
Sni2 Posted April 25, 2023 Posted April 25, 2023 With everything everyone is saying, I do wonder why Atlantic picked Mine as the lead single. I understand Me (TIktok reasons) but Mine doesn't seem like the best option considering what y'all are describing.
Chubbybunny101 Posted April 25, 2023 Posted April 25, 2023 WHEW the way that I was absolutely not ready for that album. Immediate favs are Skip This Part (my gawdddddd what an opener), Rock Hudson, Down To You (honestly that one really took me by surprise and might be my #1), and Red Flag Collector. Girlie really showed that pop/rock Kelly is not dead. Least fav was probably Chemistry? But the way that Me ABSOLUTELY SLAPPED live. Like it’s a big vocal already, but MAN she knocked that one out of the park.
rmmas Posted April 25, 2023 Posted April 25, 2023 Back in 2019, Kelly mentioned 'down to you' was inspired by Gwen Stefani. This song seems to be everyone’s fav.
wren Posted April 25, 2023 Posted April 25, 2023 (edited) Ok my review of some songs, I can put in spoilers incase people don't want to see? Spoiler The album is very much giving MOL meets I feel PxP low key (but like a more drum heavy PxP album/not synthy) I get why mine was chosen as the lead - socially it represents the album kind of well (not to mention the mid-tempos such as 'skip this part' and a few other tracks had a similar build and flow somewhat. Also Mine & Me live both are a slay - she really feels them while singing them. My favorite is lighthouse - it's like 'Tightrope's older and heartbroken sister - it's so good. High Road was kind of Giving me Second Wind energy - I was here for it. Least favorite I think off the bat was My Mistake - but that could easily change once I hear the studio version I feel/not writing it off. I actually really enjoyed Magic. Chemistry is pretty/more chill from majority of the tracks - acoustic guitar driven (I think). Red Flag Collector sounds like a country/pop smash ready to happen - give it a country remix and I think could be huge. She also GOES IN on verses. Loved Down To You (I forgot what I loved about, just that I liked it/it was catchy) and Rock Hudson (this was the track that reminded me of MOL x Breakaway). Favorite Kind of High is definitely a smash I feel (It's low key giving Pink's first single off her latest record, but better I feel) That's Right was sassy and fun & I can see why it's the closer of the album (also she has never recorded a song that sounds this 'beachy'). I Hate Love was giving me country pop rock ish - I think this song is the one where she says ***** (I forgot haha; she also '****' a few times on different tracks) Overall the concert was amazing and her voice was so strong. She was cursing so much during the banter and was just having a good time. She had to restart Skip This Part multiple times cause of crying (I think this is one of the most hardest for her to sing). You can tell she really feels this album and I do think it's her most personal to date. It's different than My December in how that album was personal (I can't really explain), but this album is for sure personal and she definitely goes in on a lot of lyrics but in a mature way and not in 25 year old way if that makes sense. Anyways can't wait to hear the studio version of this album cause I'm sure it will sound different than hearing it live - overall though I think there is a little something for everyone for sure! mrmitch31 Posted April 25, 2023 Posted April 25, 2023 I know someone mentioned that High Road was a cover by someone named Rachel and they linked but it was the wrong one… Spoiler Jane Black- High Road. It’s on Apple Music and Spotify But Kelly’s version is more pop rock vibes, also one of the songs I liked!

Black Berry Posted April 25, 2023 Posted April 25, 2023 "High Road" lyrics c/o Pulse (the song is originally by Jane Black) When I was young my father showed me To become strong you had to only Cover your fears, don’t show you’re lonely Put others first before your own needs It’s not all bad but I get lonely And I get sad and I feel broken If there’s no task I just assume one I feel the burden Perform for no one I walk the high road where nobody else has trekked I break my back on the things other people say I’m getting tired always trying to do my best When I don’t feel it, no I don’t feel it And now I’m older I’ve learned some lessons To become stronger you have to listen Keep it open, don’t try to hide it And if you need love, don’t try to fight it It’s not all bad but I get lonely And I get sad and I feel broken If there’s no task I just assume one I feel the burden Perform for no one I walk the high road where nobody else has trekked I break my back on the things other people say I’m getting tired always trying to do my best When I don’t feel it, no I don’t feel it It’s just my ego and my pride I live my life in disguise And when I’m hurting it’s incognito So everybody thinks I’m a hero It’s not all bad but I get lonely And I get sad and I feel broken If there’s no task I just assume one I feel the burden Perform for no one I walk the high road where nobody else has trekked I break my back on the things other people say I’m getting tired always trying to do my best When I don’t feel it, no I don’t feel it I walk the high road where nobody knows my name I’m getting tired of playing these stupid games I’m doing my best trying to keep the world afloat But I don’t need this, no I don’t need this
