My only wish was that they actually pre-recorded their own versions of the songs and "sung" along while killing the dance routines. And they all killed the routines IMO. If anything, Janet herself fumbled the promotional bag by not performing right after them. That whole "dance' tribute seemed more to do with how little involvement she herself was giving to the segment...despite having a tour to promote. If I recall, she didn't even meet them after it. I'm a stan, but was like WTF. It was during that weird lil window where she was being hella reclusive and half-stepping her "comeback". Glad that she's done a 180 and is uber embracing the new generation. Hopefully she continues to do so in her new music too....whenever it drops. Ciaras presence saved the tribute but girlie was throwing hands and too fast, this made me realise how great of a dancer Janet was. Her discipline and synchrony are unmatched. Jason derulos part was a disaster, it looked like a high school talent show. Even their Rhythm nation steps were clumsy, Tinashes hat fell, a mess smh but they did state they had 2 days to rehearse. Its funny how i was convinced Ciara was a better dancer than Janet

Because Of Love hasn't been performed since 1994 and that's wrong She needs to do Because of Legendnet and Whoops Now (never done in America) cause they were hits and haven't been touched in decades. Can we discuss the ballad medley she did in 2017 Twenty Foreplay Where Are You Now Come Back to Me The Body That Loves You Spending Time with You That was just heaven for me My dream is for her to do a one-off unplugged type performance and film it. I think if she did a Tiny Desk concert it would be so fresh and different for her, really surprise a lot of fans/non-fans as well.

Hope we get the new album and a new team, but until then, try to relax. I get pissed off at her because she announces projects and then doesn't follow through. If she wants to retire, I'm 100% fine with that. But don't announce an EP in 2018 and an album in 2020 and then release neither.
Asparagus Spears Posted June 5, 2022 Posted June 5, 2022 Wait, did I miss something? Do people really go out of their way to not call Janet a legend? Ummm maybe do a little research and watch a few YouTube videos ?

Like, if she wanted Unbreakable to be her final album I’d be totally ok with it. In fact I have thought for years that Unbreakable would be the last as it just has that vibe to it (it feels a lot like Michael’s ‘Invincible’) and her discography feels strong/complete enough as it is. So when she announced Black Diamond it was like a bonus. Only for her to go quiet on us after building up our hopes. I hope it does come now that we’ve been in anticipation for over 2 years. But if it isn’t, I wish she could just say that so we can accept it.
suburbannature Posted June 5, 2022 Posted June 5, 2022 Why must Madonna fans always make sweeping comments like "no one remembers that album," "dated," "no acclaim" that are obviously false just to defend their fave in an album vs. album thread

Doesn't hold a candle to the Usher, Mya, Pink tribute for MTV Icon. The BET tribute had 3 of the same songs too, if you count the little bit of If they did at the end in 2001! 14 hours ago, PopThatCorn said: She needs to do Because of Legendnet and Whoops Now (never done in America) cause they were hits and haven't been touched in decades. Many Madonna fans on here are actually Janet fans as well and vice versa. Clearly somebody was bored and decided to make a thread that has been done numerous times and at what point does it ever get boring and repetitive discussing eras from 30 years ago? Both eras are two of the best eras of their respective careers and we should treat it as such instead of making stupid, useless comparisons about which one is "bigger" and "more impactful". Now everyone be quiet, stop whining, and stream this masterpiece:
