Does anyone else feel if she gave more effort Lotus could have been more successful?

The fact Your Body debut at 30 something with her doing nothing picture if she actually did promotion.

Just a fool was doing amazing on radio it just needed a kick.

Let there be love was fan favorite that needed label support.

Blank Page received positive feedback as well.

Will we ever know what was going on with her for the entire decade of the 10s?

Maybe. Perhaps it would've inevitably flopped overseas but if they'd really invested on Your Body and Just a Fool that could've been a cute era for her in North America. Maybe a platinum album? I mean it wouldn't be much of stretch given that it is gold certified SPS.

Important to remember that Your Body went top 10 and JAF top 50 on the Canadian charts with 0 promo so yeah. The exposure she got with The Voice could've helped her more.

Accelerate is a classic in my life. Hasn’t left my summer playlist for 5 years now. She deserved better.

I literally just discovered this song a couple weeks ago and was blown by how amazing the entire track is. Xtina is so innovative. It took me some time to realize how underrated she actually is.

Maybe this short doc on the making of Back to Basics will turn you into a fan then. You can see how well crafted she is.

I feel like people didn't give it a chance. It is a grower and she was yet again ahead of her time. :alexz:

I agree honesty. I truly think the song is terrible & didn’t represent the album at all.

You can’t go away for 6 years then come back with such a mediocre song.

Like I do, Deserve or Pipe would’ve been better choices.

Also I would love her to stop paying Back to Basics dust! On average she always sings all of the five singles off Stripped AND has also included some album cuts (ie, Keep On Singing' My Song, Bionic, Elastic Love, Woohoo, etc.) While that's great that she's doing them, I wish she would explore a bit more of Back to Basics and her debut. Those are eras that not only fans but the GP who attends her concert know and fondly remember. Even Car Wash that was a stand alone single would probably gather some attention.

This! Imagine Save Me From Myself or So Emotional live. I still don't get how she never performed Like I Do such an easy song for her, instead she insist to perform Sick of Sittin'.

Also NMT deserves more love, it's a crime she performs Bionic and Vanity but refuse to perform the lead single.

Maybe because the song was forced upon her last min. She originally wanted Glam as lead.

Also the song also involves dancing which she isn’t doing now a days :biblio:

I've always loved Accelerate (right from the first time I listened to it) but I can see why a lot of people don't like it (it's a very messy song) and to be honest it shouldn't have been the lead single (Fall in Line or Like I Do would've been better choices).

Also regarding Liberation I always wanted Deserve to get some kind of single treatment (probably my favorite song on the album) :monkey:

Accelerate is a statement. :chick2: The second I heard Accelerate I knew LEGEND X was back in her creative mode.

Which is something that needed to be clear after the mess that was Lotus. The only mistake was Fall in Line being the follow up single. Love Demi, but it didn't sound like a hit and a song that loud would not get played on the radio. Like I Do should have been the followup single instead.

Yeah, I was talking to a friend the other day that I think the intro throws a lot of people off. It is chaotic until the moment Xtina kicks in. Again, I think she could've done it without Ty Dolla Sign tbh.

And yes, Like I Do gives SOTY vibes. Maybe that could've been a better choice - again very summery, chill and easy on the ears.

I also like Demi, she's great but the solo version of Fall in Line sounds better imo. I get that the vocal face-off between them might've rubbed people the wrong way.

Accelerate is not a mediocre song :rip: It's experimental and shows what a great risk-taker and artist she is

But I agree it was a bad choice to come back, because it's so polarizing

Like I Do was a much better choice - I'm sure it would have been a cute streaming hit for her

Fall In Line should have never been released in the first place, it's a terrible song

Like I Do, Deserve and Unless It's With You were perfect choices - then she could have released Accelerate to show another side of her/something more fun

We really need another album that's universally praised in terms of music quality because ever since Bionic, it feels like people are always arguing and nitpicking as to which of her albums is better whereas almost everyone can agree Stripped and Back to Basics are her best without debate.

A third album is needed to complete the trinity. Liberation is my placeholder. It's a great album no matter what y'all say!

My last hope about this is the documentary that they've been filming about her life since like 2019. Xtina is one of the most secretive celebs and it is both alluring and frustrating. I respect and admire her desire for privacy but since there's a lot that we still don't know, I hope that this documentary actually addresses everything and isn't just full of shallow moments.

I hope talks about Bionic and the early 2010s in general in her documentary.

I really want to know what her reaction was and she was going through in those years.

I do feel like if she had promoted Lotus, it could have been a success for her. "Your Body" is still one monster of a pop song, and it was even getting a decent amount of airplay. With her lack of promotion, per usual, it all just fizzled out. If she had put her best foot forward and truly promoted and put herself out there, it could have easily been the comeback album for her.

A strong push for "Your Body," "Make the World Move," "Around the World" and a massive push for "Just a Fool," all as singles, would have done wonders for her. I feel like that album had the makings to be a comeback album. "Blank Page" would have done wonderful as a radio single, in between promotion for the above songs.

And moving to Liberation, "Accelerate" is a great song. Its structure is a little bizarre, but that is what makes it so great, in my ears. It's still catchy enough to have been able to be a decent hit; again, she just needed to promote and put herself out there more.

As lead absolutely not. It turn so many people away instantly & killed any momentum for the era. It would’ve had been a great stand alone single release months or a year prior.

It did not represent the album/ era sadly.

This will be my 1,000th post! #WooHoo :gaycatina1:

And yeah, I think it's still happening. The director for it is acclaimed and all:

https://time.com/6232345/time-studios-documentary-christina-aguilera/

Roc Nation (who has been rebranding her) and TIME Studios are also behind it. I have a strong feeling that she's going to pair this doc with her next English era, which would be a smart move. The doc would get people talking about her while discovering her new music. They can use the music in the doc too.

Lotus gets dragged all the time because that era traumatized fans. :fan:

Yeah Lotus is her most phoned in album, but it was still a good album, production issues aside. The intro and songs 1 - 8 are no skips and few more.

The problem with the lead was that it leaked a long time before it was released. I'm not sure if it was 1-4 months, but it was a long time. Also the version that leaked, "**** Your Body" slapped harder. I don't know if her label got scared about the "****", but they shouldn't have since Cee Lo had a huge smash with "**** You" (Forget You) around that time.

I also agree that "Just A Fool" could have been a massive adult contemporary and pop-country hit with more promo and a video.

"Songbird, rebirth, unearth creature

Submerge from hurt, pain, broken pieces" :jamming:
