Didn’t know my love and respect for Beyoncé could reach even higher heights. The film really brought me back to so many emotions I felt when watching her perform for the first time a few months ago. So emotionally charged, especially the segment about Blue, Uncle Johnny & the Ballroom segment (as a girlie in Ballroom I was living for all of this). She is just EVERYTHING.

When the power went out in my theater, while we were waiting a fan started singing this part and the whole room followed at the top of our lungs like we did before when this part came on screen.

Such a great moment!!

Really good Spotify debut. Many songs charting above it are Christmas songs.

I’ve seen several names in relation to My House, but am I the only one hearing Boosie’s style of delivery during the first half of the song? Like, my mind immediately went to him.

Went to see the film last night and LOVED IT so much. She really is a force to be recon with and a master vocalist/performer. Good for her, proper talent and development as an artist seems hard to witness from pop girls these days.

It really uplifted the songs again for me, and Im so glad she put the Hive and the queer/trans community right front and center too, gave them all their flowers in clever and fun ways. Good for her!

It was also super interesting to see the breath of production-levels needed for such a show. I was a bit aghast at the fact that there are actually THREE stages being driven around at any given time during a tour of this size. For me, this is quite a bad point, and certainly highlighted the issues that touring at this level have when it comes to impact on climate change. Knowning this fact, I will most definitely not invest in these type of shows again, probably ever, unless this practice changes. It's too much and no amount of 'go big' justifies this, in my view. Touring at this scale really needs to be killed off or completely changed in the way it works, sadly...

Overall thouygh, I dont think I have ever had such a fun night out at the cinema! Everyone was LOVING IT and during Break My Soul and Heated loads of people were up dancing, and most were singing along throughout it. I loved it!!!

Maybe a bitttt too long, and certainly some of the BTS bits could have been cut (I also didnt particularly needed the Church Girl - Crazy in Love section, it was a bit boring) and I also definitely did not need the Before I Let Go bit, it was quite flat.

The Uncle Johnny bit really killed the flow for Heated though. I wish that but came before Virgo's Groove as it would make sense that whole section was basically an odd to queerness.

Overall though, 90/100!! Love her dispite her disguting capitalist ways

I waited until the movie to hear “My House”…after seeing descriptions on social media…I was really not excited for it & didn’t rush to play it. I have such a love/hate relationship with Rapyonce. But when the song started playing at the end….I started feeling that southern flow on it…it felt old school. Then she started doing intricate runs on it & I was sold.

Great!

Can someone clue me up about how film numbers and charting work?

I know the opening weekend is super important, but does the full week matter too? Kinda like album sales?

I'm kinda dialed into the numbers and find the "Business of Beyonce" pretty fascinating.

This is definitely shaping up to be a profit-making exercise when thinking about the strong US launch, the overseas numbers, and the likely streaming release.

I'm just tryna ascertain how big the win will be?

Like, what will be a good final number for her domestic and global?

I think the current opening numbers in the US already make this worth it - both numbers and legacy wise. I'd say she probably already made all the money she spent on the movie with the US weekend numbers, anything besides this is a plus financially speaking.

Legacy wise, this is also a great move since the movie is just so well done and the bts feel genuine, yet show what kind of superwoman Bey is. I think word of mouth will carry this. I mean 100% on Rotten Tomatoes kinda speaks for itself

Blue Ivy will be such a star. She has true charisma and a mix of both Bey and Jay in swag. I cant wait to see what this beautiful girl will do in the future.  She was a HUGE part of this movie. Lot of focus on her.

Interesting insights!

I'm really eager to see the full week numbers, not just for the US but globally.

IIRC, an article I read about Taylor's deal put these AMC deals at something like 60% of the ticket sales going direct to the artist.

Knowing that this probably didn't cost Bey "that" much to make, she stands to make a really tidy profit if the movie ends up anywhere between $40-60 million in global gross.

Whether she goes the streaming route or on-demand route Taylor just announced, both approaches also equal more = $$$ for this largely self-directed, edited, etc concert film.

In hindsight, the relatively low production cost for this film actually makes the theatrical route make the most sense. Something I must admit I wasn't so sure of initially (as I felt it should have been reserved for the visuals).

Spending $5 million (for example) and making upwards of $20 million in profit is a touchdown.

Whereas, the elusive "visuals" undoubtedly have cost her a lot more to make, thus creating the literal need for a big check to cover costs and make a profit. Which is probably why a streaming deal (which guarantees her fixed figure/profitability from the jump and doesn't put her numbers/performance on front street) is her desired route.

Just thinking aloud, but the more I think the more "aspects" of the concert film / where are the visuals scenario became easier to rationalize.

Also..

Spoiler

Call me delulu, but I STILL think the "visuals" are coming in some capacity. Be that a joint visual with act 2 or some sort of surprise drop on streaming. The fact many of the interludes from the tour (which were clearly part of the visual shoots) were edited out of the concert film makes me feel she doesn't want to preempt that content with this venture.

Being an avid analyst of her business antics, I really struggle to believe the visuals are "totally" scrapped. In all her decades of dominance, she never been a "scrapped" kinda girl.

There's a first time for everything and maybe these concert film profits will help offset the losses of the $$$ spent on the visuals if they are indeed scrapped.
