Don't worry girl, you will be getting THIS AND MORE!

4:3 aspect ratio this second, 16:9 the next, then 3:2 just for the hell of it, then a Super8 filter the next frame, then 21:9 all of a sudden with no f**kin reason and not even a smooth transition. just random ass aspect ratios all over the place like they used camera presets and didn't bother editing

Reading these posts, it's shocking that some fans of Bey still dont accept what has become of her work. Like it's not going to change. What  Bey is doing  now she wanted to do it in her early 30's but she pushed it to her 40's. Remember when she used to say in interviews that when she gets older, she will release music but not promote as much? that she would tour her work but that's about it? How come nobody remembers that? Y'all thought she was lying?

The problem with the fans' disconnect with Bey is that they THINK this fame that Bey has is too great to be left to waste. She is still being compared to top artists of today when she debuted in late 90's. Would she still have this fame if she was thirsty and all over the place though?  Think about it.

Oh we know and understand where shes coming from, but we as consumers do not have to like it.

Seeing how the world slowly but surely moves on from her with every new project, it seems the complainers are not a minority.

And trust, im sure the Janet Fans were once cocky too. But Janets entire legacy was tarnished (due to one incident) and quite frankly, her catalog and reputation has suffered greatly. Dont think people will keep speaking greatly of Bey or remembering her "because shes Beyonce".

Madonna, for instance, has worked HARD to maintain her status and has been rewarded by still being deemed the untouchable Queen of Pop

it's so telling that she will most likely have just 1 song in my Spotify Wrapped Top 5 this year, with a whole new album out, when she had all 5 occupied in 2022 and 4/5 in 2023.

Yeah yeah. The ***** could drop 1-3 music videos per era. Yes we'd likely as for more, but at least SOMETHING. No one is asking for SNL or the View. But the film could've been released digitally, she could have done an acoustic performance of Texas or something. Literally anything beyond IG reels.

REN she got a pass cause the album is flaw free. CC is not nearly good enough to leave for dust like this.

No, she said she wants to make as many albums as possible. :skull:

It already exists. It's called Lemonade. So many of its videos would be so much better if they stuck with one aspect ratio -- even if it's different for each song. It's so grating to see her in widescreen then she moves her ass for five seconds and all of a sudden she's squished into a tiny ass frame like it's 2003. Like... it's not even visually appealing. I want a more consistent experience like B'Day Anthology and self-titled.

I don't notice it AS much in Lemonade. To me Homecoming and Renaissance are way worse because it completely ruins the feel of a live performance.

I watched lady ga ga's concert film the other day (well most of it) and even though the show is kinda wack it's very well filmed and edited. A proper concert/performance recording.

All I see on social media nowadays is how Bey isn't relatable enough. I wonder when this facade ends and when these brokies listen to themselves talking about relating to whole billionaires. Beyoncé is aging so well, isn't bald headed, and has the credentials to sell certain products. I don't need to feel like she's my best friend to appreciate the quality of whatever she puts out.

The way we used to have this in Live at Wembley and The Beyoncé Experience. Even Live at Roseland kept the edits to a minimum and was very enjoyable because of it.

MTE.

The "relatable" discourse with Bey is the one thing that always reminds me that a lot of those talking really don't "get" branding or what makes each artist unique. So many people, even stans, love Bey, but I'm regularly reminded that a lot of these same people don't know what makes Beyonce.."Beyonce".

Like, I legit think people, even those who think they're "in the know", look at celebs and celeb culture with an all-encompassing lens. Put simply, to them, very little (if anything) differentiates the "type" of fame and positioning Beyonce has from Taylor, Rihanna, or Ariana.

The reality is that Bey, in being from a different era, is emblematic of Old School Hollywood. Mysterious, work-led, and possesses an otherworldly talent that gives her an almost superhero positioning. It's her...thing. IMO, her inaccessibility is the secret sauce. Not endorsing the nonsense that is the current CC  silence, but marketing 101 (in general) for luxury/premium products is: limit the supply/access, and increase the demand. Bey has long positioned herself as a luxury/premium brand.

Randomly wanting her to pivot into something hyper-accessible and relatable, when the reality of her life as a billionaire makes her anything but that, would be disingenuous on her part. IMO, she taps in key ways that make sense (her Blackness, her womanhood, her motherhood), but doesn't overstretch it to take on this girl next door positioning because a big part of her appeal is how larger than life she is.

In being part of a younger generation (who came up on social media accessibility) and IMO simply not possessing the talent level warranting of being mysterious or superhero-like, it totally figures why a Rihanna for example would anchor her fame in relatability. That fairly works for her, but IMO should not equate to Beyonce needing to do the same.

That's not to say Bey is above correction. I think she treats Cecred more like she's an investor than its face/CEO; and I stand by the fact that almost all of these celeb brands should unapologetically be marketed as led by them and once successful work to have it stand on its own two feet. If you're leveraging your celebrity towards effectively bypassing the brick-by-brick growth trajectory of a "normal" new brand, you may as well go all in and all out to ensure it's a success.

Even then, I don't think "relatability" in the warts and all way Rihanna does means Bey has to the same. Hell, even more dedicated Cecred posts on her socials would suffice.

Way more long-winded than intended, but in short, like you said, I can't wait for the "relatability" discourse around her to end. It's not as "intelligent", knowing, or nuanced as it thinks it is.

like, i swear to god, lemonade and Black Is king are great, but the editing is hot f**kin garbage. i wish they never let her use editing software back in i am world tour dvd. that's where this incoherent editing sh*t began

'My Power' comes to mind, when she fully messes up a dance move blatantly and the next scene just cuts poorly to her in the right position. I'd link and timestamp it but our legendary fave doesn't like her music videos to be accessible without a paywall

That's all fine, but she's posting trailers and cryptic websites alluding that something is happening and visuals will be released. She can keep all of that and just have Yvette earn her paycheck for once and say "there are no plans to release any visuals currently"

and if she can launch a promo campaign for some shampoo and go straight from the operating table to Dubai to limp around a stage then she can also hit record on an iphone and sing a song or two for her fans

I genuinely think these acts aren't passion projects for her in the way Lemonade, 4, and self-titled were. Even Black is King. They're all her babies, but not to the same degree. I just know she is wondering where that acclaim was for her previous projects where she put in WORK outside of the studio booth. Imagine performing at the Renaissance world tour and telling the crowd you want to perform a song from your favorite album... from 13 years ago. The premise behind Renaissance was dead uncle and for CC, a bad experience performing with the Dixie Chicks of all people from 7 years ago. I think she only put that one out to make the time lost worth it that could have been spent on a yacht. She said let Rumi bleach my hair and lemme play cowgirl dress up. You think she really cared about white crusty folk not kissing her feet? She wanted to piss them off, call her ms petty. This is the same lady with steel balls bigger than Jay's on live tv for 100 million people... in black panther attire. She had a national boycott from the police, Tomi Lahren and the MAGAts on that long neck the entire era. She LOVES to piss people off, including her fans. She gets off on it, she thinks about while Jay is giving her the pipe. Listen to the BMS Queens Remix. That has been her sick and twisted routine for a decade.

Bey can't be relatable even if she tried because she is too attractive and talented on top that. Most people are jealous people. If Beyonce was attractive but not talented she could be seen as relatable.

Good analysis, but I'd like to point out that

1) As I see it, 4 may be the only passion project for Bey out of those since it encompasses the type of music that she genuinely loves (ballads, mid-tempos, live instrumentation and horns, R&B/Soul/Urban music inspired by Stevie, MJ, Prince). Hence to this day she continues to remind us of that. It's true that Renaissance's concept revolved around her uncle, on the other hand a couple of songs off that album could have fitted on 4 (Cuff It, Virgo's Groove), while POTS could have been on DIL. I'm saying this given that those are Bey's personal fav albums of hers. I also believe she loves CC. Those are her words and I don't see why she would lie to her fanbase. She said she had been looking forward to record music with live instrumentation, in addition we know she's keen on slowtempos.

2) Her surgery might have interfered with the promo for Renaissance. Other than that, she just might be fed up with the idea of being a "pop girl" for all we know. Maybe she stopped caring about winning AOTY either.

Beyoncé is not relatable, period.

She's extremely talented, passionate about her work, ambitious, serious, perfectionist, dedicated, fussy, smart, and at the same time very humble.

Sadly, it's too much for the average Joe when there's a Rihanna who you can party with, or a Taylor that markets herself as the girl next door. It's one of the main reasons why we do love her, but at the same time she continues to be misunderstood by everyone else.
