My biggest concern for Bey isn't even just that her recurrents are bad. If that was always the case it would be whatever and just unfortunate reality. It is the fact that she used to be the ****** LEADER of EVERYONEEEEEE on Spotify when it came to recurrents. 4 used to be outstreaming LOUD, Teenage Dream, The Fame Monster etc.  Halo was MILES above other pop girls recurrent streams in daily, and I mean it literally used to chart on Global Spotify in 2018 for no reason (yes not just V'Day which it don't even re-enter for now) doing +1M :rip: She was basically Taylor before Taylor. Somehow she has seen a massive decline in back catalog relevance and that is worrying asf.

I think her music has been over overexposed in a weird way. She has been around for so long that she obviously is going to perform the same songs on every tour and festival. I think people just grew tired of her discography after being in their face for so long. Her music doesn’t feel nostalgic because it’s been here all this time. Rihanna can feel nostalgic because a lot of us stop listening to her hit singles when they stopped playing on the radio only to be replaced with another hit single.

So basically she is who she is by luck :ahh:

It all started with Matthew Knowles playing the best social game that any Hollywood father has ever played. He found the right connections to get her to be the first person to perform at the Grammys multiple times in one night one of those times being with the legend that is prince who never performs with anybody. That was the snowball that turned into a castle. so I wouldn’t say luck. I would say a mix of strategy and money.

Right... like not even putting together she was invited to all those things BECAUSE her talent and music :rip:

But I kinda stopped taking that person seriously when I saw them post in an Xtina thread that she and Beyonce were looking a lot alike lately

Oh you stop taking me seriously until two days ago then? And Christina Aguilera does look like Beyoncé on stage lately. Her style, the sunglasses, the hips, the way she half sings songs, the deep voice.

Is it really that serious when Ed Sheeran, who is #5 in that list, had an album just a few months ago that completely bombed? Yet he has 20 million more listeners than her.

Yes that means people are listening to his recurrents which is the point. He can make a successful album again. His core is strong.

I have a lot that I can say to shut this down however I’m going to let it go. I’ll just say you know nothing.

Do you not agree though? Who the hell wears shades while performing except H.E.R. I understand if she wears it for a song or two but it looks like she wears them for half the show. I could be wrong I haven’t watched all the clips, but on her Instagram page it seems like half of the show she is covering her eyes. Not only can she not hear us (in ears) she can’t see us either. Why bother? It create such a disconnect with the crowd.

this is definitely giving Beautiful Liar look alike music video. Call this Alien Supasta ft Christinà. Especially if Beyoncé goes bleach blonde again. They share the same aesthetic in 2023 and that’s OK to acknowledge. The bottom photo is giving on the run to 2.

This is not good and I think it's simply the quality of music. Lyrically, she's getting worse with each album. Her lyrics are Damn near corny nowadays despite having many writers. The Dream should have been gone after 4.

People will attack you, but unfortunately, I agree with you. It's funny how when you look back, the lyrics from her Destiny's Child albums and her first four solo albums are more lyrically mature than the ones she puts out now. :rip: I mean, I enjoy the songs, don't get me wrong, but shoutouts, references, swearing aren't substitutes for great lyrics. Taylor Swift has the same problem.

not with those party city outfits and hands-not-matching self tanner!

Christina trying to look like a Kardashian has nothing to do with Beyoncé. especially her singing and performance.

Ummmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm have y’all not heard daddy, hip hop star, that’s how you like it?

Early DC days they were 16 year olds trying to act grown and trying to fit in with the grown and sexy era that’ was prominent in R&B.. When they started to create their own sound you got survivor, independent woman, etc.

There’s a reason her last three albums are her most critically acclaimed. They tell a story and have meaning and pay homage.

She gave us an album full of uptempos that we’d been begging for for a decade, what do you expect? Renaissance has great lyrics for the the type of record that it is.:rip:

Lemonade and The Gift were her most lyrical works.

She does have some cringy innuendos and phrases that were either an attempt to relate with the younger generation/trends or were just off color all together. More so on Lem and ST though, Ren is more campy/tongue in cheek. Im looking at Bow Down, Flawless (original + remix), 7/11, Sorry, and Savage. These all aged like milk.

Now her use of innuendos in Kitty Kat for example… that shits bricks on each and every one of those songs.

i mean i don’t know why y'all expect Pulitzer price level lyrics on a dance album about clubbing, dicks and ass  :rip:

BUT it’s sure that her still trying to make swag/swaggy and slay happen in big 2023 certainly doesn’t help her back catalogue streams. Listening to her use these words just has this "old person thinks this is what young people sound like" vibe which sure we find cute or endearing but trust me the GP just finds it corny :rip: songs like Sorry are just unlistenable these days due to that and i used to LOVE sorry….

Another thing that doesn’t help is the fact that her features are complete ass. You got ******* Shining and Rih got Wild Thoughts lmaoo ? i know that had her Heated.mp3. Top Off ? at your big age ? :lmao: Del Restroom ? sure i like the song but nobody, certainly not Travis Scott fans, wants to hear that lol… Mi Gente ? the bars downstairs play Mi Gente 24/7 and i’ve never heard them touch that awful remix once. Savage ? aged like milk the second it came out. All those songs made 0 noise & they aren’t good either. If she was a good remix hopper à la Rihanna at least they would add something to her repertoire or help keep her fresh in the GP’s mind but all of these do the opposite….

I saw Renaissance last week and I ascended. It's probably the pinnacle of her performing career. The visuals, the voice, the outfits, the dancing (although she used to be more into it in the past tours, but fair play, she's smart about it now and knows how to leave the audience wanting more) are all top notch. The ballroom dancing in the last section with all the dancers is mind blowing. The Queen Mother Madonna display on the huge screen is so respectful and the stadium blew up with the Vogue Queens remix of Break My Soul. I know I'm not saying anything new but it's obvious this is a very special time for Beyoncé and she acknowledges it as such too. The woman was born to perform in a Michael Jackson or Tina Turner-esque way and clearly loves it. She was exceptionally grateful and warm to her audience as well.

Nnnn, I hate both of these takes lol

1. Firstly, up tempo does not equal bad lyrics or of vapid content. So it should never be used as a scapegoat if someone is complaining about lyrical content.

2. Her writing overall is much deeper now imo, much more lyrically layered and interesting compared to her DC-DIL days.

Something like the second verse in Cozy wipes the the floor with much of her early career where everything was very literal, lacking a bit in a district character.

But I agree that her pop/hook writing during the commercial years was a bit more fulfilling & tighter. And there are plenty of "pop" songs on Ren which are just fine in regards to writing without really excelling like she would have in the past Summer Ren/Cuff It/BMS are all kind of basic. Whereas songs like Halo/CIL/SL are ultra tight, no awkward lyrics and just sat right on first listen. To me, the best writing on the "pop" Ren songs is Heated. Immaculate.

That being said I absolutely agree that she has room to evolve, and there's so much she clearly wants to say ,(which is why she codes it in her visuals) but she doesn't have the capacity to weave it into her song writing as clearly. And I want to hear about more then just Jays dick or her loving herself.
