WHO booked her that tiny ass stadium in london, only one show in Paris, no shows in Italy, irrelevant German cities instead of Berlin and munich etc. like she is BEYONCÉ. And WHO is telling her to skip the rest of the world like those stadiums won’t sell out in 10 minutes each like they did in europe, got her going to ******* kentucky and Minnesota but not São Paulo?

Tbh, that happens when everything you do or plan is super late because of "secrets". Team Bey hasn't realized there are other artists and sportteams on Planet Earth that also book stadiums in advance

I mean…have we ever ranked the music videos/visuals individually? :ninja:

We have ranked all her albums individually, all her videos per era, all the singles together, all her non singles together, all the albums together, all the videos together. We even started on her unreleased tracks but we didn’t finish that one. The only ranking left are the Renaissance videos

I still think that as a fan there's something exciting about stretching out the era, releasing the album, no videos, then the tour, then (apparently) the visuals.

We spend so much time bemoaning her choices but as far as time within the Top 50 on the Billboard 200, RENAISSANCE currently has 13 more weeks than Lemonade, 15 more than ST. And only with 2 singles, no videos, no performances, no re-release. There's no telling how different that would be had there been visuals in a timely manner (could be more, in fact, or just more sales in total) but there is something to be said for not giving it all away at once and just letting the album coast off its own greatness.

If we are here for charts and spreadsheets, the era didn't intrinsically need the visuals. It still doesn't. The album is at #33.

Beyoncé often looks to the past as a source of inspiration ("people don't make albums anymore") and perhaps she is overly nostalgic in trying to recreate that era but back in the day eras did not last 6-8 months as they tend to now, singles are released within the span of years (look at some of Janet's early eras: Control's first and last were released about 2 years apart; Rhythm Nation's were about 2.5 years apart).

I personally have no problem that visuals are delivered a year later. I've enjoyed the album immensely in the time since it was released, is perhaps my most played album ever of anyone let alone Beyoncé, still sounds/feels fresh (in part because all we have is music so there's an openness to), and still has the excitement of more to come.

It's never about the stats and charts but the enjoyment you get out of it as a fan.

To me personally waiting over a year for something to happen after you put a record out is way past ridiculous territory, though I envy those of you that have no issue with it and I'll take any tips on how to reach that state of mind. As brilliant as this album is this has been one of the most sour experiences I've had with music; waiting and waiting for months on no end just to get a music video or a performance.

I'm a pretty chill guy in general, had no complaints about the ST era, quite contrary I thought it was amazing and a good medium, and outside of the FWT dvd I didn't feel like anything was missing during Lemonade also. But this has brought me to frustrations level I rarely get to in my life.

The tone of this base changes so quickly lol.

Last night it was "Beyoncé is asking for too much" now it's "Beyoncé thinks too small."

I think both can be true.

I think about all the years she rode Halo out as she released less mainstream hits and saw diminished returns with her work. But it was okay as long as she could somehow negotiate big bags with HBO, Netflix and Disney.

This caught up with her with EIL and The Gift. People began to ask "Why is everything an event and so hyped"? Many thought these projects were too pretentious. This is in comparison to Beys star power and back to back smashes from 2001-2009. Even had movies that she actually promoted.

Renaissance has reclaimed a good chunk of the commercial appeal that Beyonce admittedly lost. If the rumors are true, Bey doesn't seem to realize that her price could be better justified if she'd appeal to the portion of the GP who can't afford the tour. People who can't afford it clearly like BMS, Cuff It, Alien Superatar, Heated and now Energy. Why aren't we sending songs to radio or licensing for advertisement? If you want the visuals to sell, justify the price. Get more of the GP involved.

What's the issue with Tottenham vs. Wembley?

It’s more shows and more strain on her to do 5 shows than to do like 3 in a bigger stadium, perform for more people and get more money. It would be like her choosing to do like 4 shows at a baseball stadium in the US instead of 2 at a huge football stadium

Well the success of this era is cause the GP is kinda back on board. It was clear with EIL and The Gift that Hive was jumping ship.

The way I see it, all it took was 2 singles being sent to radio for her to get a #1 hit and worldwide top 10 smash that's bigger than the #1. So why cut your wings and not make the era even bigger? Beys success this era seems to be pure coincidence. The success of everything surprises her and then she's dragging her feet. "Oh that Cuff It song is doing well after 4 months of ignoring it!? Guess we'll send it to radio". "Oh my album is back in the top 10 on AM!? I guess there's no need to push anything else". "Oh they actually bought Ivy Park and those perfume preorders!? Well I guess we'll keep promoting pieces that sold out with no plan to restock."

This is just in contrast to artists who see a 2% uptick in streams and formulate a plan to send it to radio and other outlets to bring more attention to what they're doing. If the rumors are true, Beyonce hasn't fully justified the price she commands.

Nah there’s no way she wouldn’t have gotten to book some of those venues. Maybe a different day than whatever artist/team had the venue booked but they would let her book them

There’s stretching an era (SOS album per example) and then, there is Renaissance. Beyoncé’s elastic has worn out and broke few months ago :rip:

I'm sure some of these venues (especially newly-constructed ones in markets with many options) also discount or waive their venue rental rate if the right artist or event comes along.

I have a feeling the Tottenham and Minneapolis venues did that this tour, and would not be surprised if she switches stadiums in Vegas next go-round, as so many concert venues are coming online there.

Tottenham did that, there’s stadiums in Australia that have already publicly announced they’re doing that as incentive for her to come, im sure more would’ve done that. It makes me think she doubts her worth or something like girl you’re BEYONCÉ you should have the best stadiums in the biggest cities always. The venues will get their return on investment the hive spends real coins and even her casual fans know her show is worth it

All I know is I thought for sure she would never do the gift/black is king redux and here we are. Arguably her best work and sounds like her best visuals but won’t get the push and notoriety it deserves. And that’s IF she even decides to release it. :clown:

Personally, I think knowing nothing was promised to us makes it a lot easier to not feel upset about. She warned us before the album was even released (via Parkwood press release) that the album intended to put music first, and the statement put a very strong emphasis on the fact that this era Beyoncé would be doing something different in regards to  the relationship between music and visuals.

On top of that, the video which many refer to as a "trailer" is in fact a teaser by name, and by output as well. It may combine sequences we presume are from other music videos, but is emphatically sequenced to match I'M THAT GIRL. It may feature scenes used primarily in other videos but this "clips from one video used in another" is something Beyoncé has done in visual both Lemonade and Black is King.

Plus, through both the Parkwood Halloween-pics meme (posted in November), the tour interlude (launched in May) and her own words on tour (I think in August) Beyoncé has told us there will be a bit of a wait. So I'm not upset about it, she's never suggested otherwise and in fact she's let us know that there's a wait.

In way, I see it almost like releasing an amazing book but not making it into a movie right away. Now's the time for us to enjoy it, for Beyoncé to tour the music and then the movie comes out and we get to see a different side to it.
