John M. Chu’s last blockbuster musical flopped in epic proportions (as did West Side Story) so betting on the movie doing well enough to warrant a second in a coveted theater slot like Christmas not once but twice sounds horrifying.

 

Maybe we’ll get AG7 and tour in between now and 2024 but something tells me the tour will be limited dates and she won’t even bother to do to the limited promotion Positions got.

I mean, the movies will still have Ariana's name plastered on them. The question is, how is she gonna keep her name out there until the theatrical releases? She should still be releasing something and keep her in the current pop scene for just her name to somewhat carry the movies.

she’s 100% dropping music before the first film, she has stuff recorded and there’s no reason why she’d keep it to herself until 2026 lol 

 

also i think the idea of having 2 movies is great and probably means they’re gonna do the impossible to make sure the first one is great, otherwise people will not be here for a part 2

One of the biggest complains about wicked that it’s way to fast paced. So that will help.

I think it was an okay move to push it back a year to 2024 as it (in theory) compensates for the idea of another surge. In a perfect world, it serves A Star is Born and can do well both critically and commercially without the pandora to interfere but we will see

 

I also think doing one more album before completely turning the page and letting us have an era and tour to accompany the experience and feel like a sendoff would probably be better for goodwill going into it.

AG7 - out in q1 2023. 3 singles (all with MV's) a few performances here and there and then atleast a small tour. After that she can do whatever the hell she wants

This makes a lot of sense actually. There's no way she got THE Nile Rodgers to record with her just to put off releasing for years or to scrap it.

I think they will, but they’ll most likely do some re shoots once both films are being finished to incorporate new angles, scenarios or just stuff that they added or wasn’t well done in the filming

two movies and i feel like they will just film them as one long movie all at the same time this summer and fall

 

all the twitter stans acting like this means we'll have to wait till after 2025 for music are so....  if anything, this news actually means we'll have a much more open time frame for her to do her next era...

Still hoping we get a single before the end of the year. A TUN-like schedule would be perfect imo. AG8 isn’t coming till 2026 though  

 

And this probably means she won’t be Megara for the Hercules movie  I was really hoping she’d snatch that role. 

Ariana will never release another song that knocks on the car stereo as hard as bad idea ever again  I fear.

Yeah I don’t think the Megara role is happening and I also want a TUN rollout again 

tbh if the short eras trend continues she very well could release two albums before wicked 1 is released, AG7 early 2023 and AG8 mid 2024, very short and abandoned eras like positions ofc, I’m not saying this is what will happen tho, I’m just saying she could if she wanted to, but a very long era with a tour would be better 

 

So hopefully we'll get the lead single of AG7 in October-November this year and album in March.

Doubt we get a release of anything this year other than makeup.  

 

I feel like we’ll get late Q2 2023 album, summer and fall tour that might extend into early 2024 (doubt it), then give her the rest of that year to rest before the promo run for the first movie starts.

I feel like she will tour in 2023. 

all i'm saying now is y'all better start saving up for the AG7 tour in 2023, because who knows when she'll tour after that! 

 

she might even start a family after wicked in 2026.... 

 

I just realized that if they decide ending the first movie on Defying Gravity then that probably means we won't get Ari's version of Thank Goodness until like 2026 in the second movie  I hate my life

The old Ariana would've given us 3 albums, 2 tours, 10 MVs, 20 collabs, and and 15 award show performances in that time.

 

Wicked being split into two parts is so confusing  Will there be one soundtrack released at the same time? Are they going to film BOTH parts this summer or Part 1 this year and Part 2 next year?

I can see why Ariana is stepping back from music in 9 years she released 6 albums, over 200 songs, had 3 world tours. She’s moving like Rihanna both used to constantly release music and be active so they got bored really fast and need to do something outside of the music. 
But If positions is last album for a long time, she could’ve milked that album a little bit more so we could’ve stopped having a meltdown.
