On the contrary. Rooting for the song made it super viral that even CNN was talking about the song yesterday. So it's only logical that people that did not know about the song started listening to it and at the same time, helping the numbers grow. You think what, the entire country is a stan base now?

Portugal literally stans any song that smashes in Brazil and that's not because Brazilian people are streaming it from there

Japan? Italy? They have a high percentage of Brazilians too, what happened there? Germany also, the 6th biggest population of brazilians living abroad. Why is the song not charting high there? 

And it's also top 100 in the US too  
On the other hand, there's an almost zero population of Brazilians in Switzerland, what's happening there then? 
Maybe the number of brazilians living in said country literally means nothing at all?

You can't prove for sure the citizen status or ethnic breakdown of people listening to a song in streaming services. 

 

Not only that is a very flawed point as Envolver is a spanish song smashing in most spanish-speaking countries, so it was only a matter of time for Spain to get the memo, but also a very suspicious one. The ethnicity of citizens streaming a song shouldn't be a relevant measure for a song to be considered a legitimate hit in said country.

 

Things would get very ugly if we start measuring the international reach of ATRL's western pop girlies by ethnicity, race or citizen status.
