CrimsonX Posted March 26, 2022 Posted March 26, 2022 It's the end of an era. Things are about to change.

Inb4 BTS releases at that time too and blocks them all for 10 weeks while the chart is so empty right now without any competition
fridayteenage Posted March 26, 2022 Posted March 26, 2022 to show how extreme it is, ONE song got 5 million US spotify streams this week. for a year to year comparison, # of 5 mil+ for the same week: 2021 18 songs, 13 w/o bieber's new album 2020 27 songs, 15 w/o weeknd's new album 2019 21 songs 2018 24 songs 2017 39 songs, 18 w/o drake's new album

So the last time she properly released a single? If she actually did a proper single rollout, instead of just stunting it in every way she can, then she most definitely could.

Could music tastes finally & actually be about to change? A few alt rock & pop-rockers have gained some traction in recent months. I don't consider HW at all Rock though.

Alex21kw Posted March 27, 2022 Posted March 27, 2022 I think TikTok plays a huge factor in this, predominantly old songs go viral randomly now which moves the GP's attention away from new releases. It's not just A-list releases that are affected by this, but more generally there has been no new "it-singer" since Olivia basically.

Having multiple 6 mo+ songs at once lessens the credibility of GOAT charts. Then again, when many of the earlier 2010s hits had these 18-22 wk T10 runs, the entire Top 20 had more points than #1s these days. The problem is BB uses the same points for assigned placements for all eras
