I feel like RCA will drop her before the album comes out :ahh:

she's not happening.. I guess.

She did it to herself. You don't play with people with a yearly SINGLE release as a new artist and think that people will stick with you until the album release. She's not Beyonce. She's not any of the legendary pop acts who begin to hide and drop a single or two a year. You can't be mysterious like them, you didn't earn that right. When Beyonce first started  she was WORKING and HUSTLING. Performing everywhere and working to make her singles hits. Rihanna was dropping albums every year. Gaga was performing at malls and nightclubs. Normani is a new solo artist trying to break into the industry and she wasn't acting like it. There was no hustle and I saw no motivation from her to be a superstar. I don't know if her and her label thought she was above it, but clearly she should have been hitting the streets and working. The moment I saw the likes on her new single on Twitter I knew this wasn't going to be a hit or anything close to one. She had the whole industry and the GP rooting for her and it all went to waste.

This is so embarrassing as a stan:rip:

I remember last year a Normani stan was LAUGHING at a song going back and forth between #3 & #4 but they no where to be found in here. Would love to hear their take on this

It's just embarrassing that she nearly got naked to push this song, only for it to completely bomb. And it's not like she hasn't been teasing it for the past three months.

The snippet of that other song which "leaked" recently sounds way more catchy than this. She should release that ASAP.

Over before it even began. A sad story.

If only it was as calculated as that :rip: in reality they just don't have the music ready and there's no appetite for a Normani album

This was I think what happened to Beyonce too when her first single came out, there was a lot of hype and discussion about her work and how she would be the next biggest thing and she was, but not for a lack of trying. She took the pressure and the expectation and worked her ass off pandering to all the markets that would embrace her music and did a sh*t ton of collaborations and promo spots on MTV even for the stupidest sh*t, 2000s Bey was never above anything and was willing to throw down and put her name out there, even that prank show where she ended up f*cking up an NYC christmas tree :deadbanana4:

This is because Beyoncé (and the other pop girls) have paid their dues and then some!

There's literally footage on YouTube of Gaga performing for free in the parking lot of an Ikea in 2008. Did Gaga want to do that? Probably not but she needed to get her name out there somehow and was gonna sing Poker Face to a couple of dozen people. Look at her now, a star on par with the other pop girls.

Normani had a head start; she had the fans and recognition from Fifth Harmony. However, she and her team have squandered it all. Instead of getting the music out there, she has turned into a social media personality. Hey, if that's what makes her happy, good for her! But can her stans stop pretending she is the 'future' of music based on some mediocre singles and hip-hop dancing in her music vids.

I;m confused by this thread lol.

Wild Side was extremely successful given the state of pure R&B music on the radio. The song was critically acclaimed. The video was the third most popular in 2021 for an R&B artist. Of course a slow jam like Wild Side isn't going to be an immediate smash upon release - that's not how those types of songs work on the chart.

Fair is a fantastic song - and since it's only going for urban contemporary radio adds, my guess is this will be a short bridge song to an uptempo release.  No one else in R&B is very successful at being a huge force besides Doja Cat - who has a pop song to thank for her rise.

“Extremely successful” :priceless: sis let’s not

The semi-success that it did earn was ALL Cardi B’s doing.

The song is solid but kind of weak for a big lead single.  Regardless of how it performs, she just needs to keep the roll out moving, release an album this summer and work to establish an audience once the material is out.
