Anvarie Posted March 19, 2022 Posted March 19, 2022 Team happy slayed! some of y’all on the other hand serving Old Navy catalogue at best
Littlejfrey Posted March 19, 2022 Posted March 19, 2022 Kirsten Dunst Some of these photos are a mess, maybe it's because of the lack of experience or maybe some people felt too safe and thought they could get away with anything. But I'm confident that my photo will do well My good friend Florence Welch from S2 was always doubting herself and feeling very insecure, and it made me so mad for her! So I'm gonna try to stick on the other side of that spectrum
Rotunda Posted March 19, 2022 Posted March 19, 2022 (edited) DUCKIE THOT SITS ENRAGED AT HER VANITY After winning season 3 of ATRL's Next Top Model, I knew immediately that I wanted to become a judge and help mentor other models on their journeys to stardom and acclaim. Some of you are making me regret that choice. I came up with the Emotions theme for this challenge because I wanted to give all you girls an easy first challenge to help acclimate you all to the competition. Obviously, easy is still too hard for some of you. Your failure to execute the theme reflects poorly on me as a judge and makes people question my ideas. Do not embarrass me in front of @dweebzagain. You are all on notice. Dominique / @sugrbby666: This is perfectly fine as a first photo for your catalog. You are clearly expressing happiness, and the shot is clear and easy to read. The picture does however come off as a tad generic, and lacks the intensity or uniqueness that you'll need to make the top in later rounds. Candice / @TheArgonaut: This is a very good start to your portfolio. While I feel like I've seen pictures like this several times in the past, I do think that you've intelligently picked a picture that thematically leans into the positive connotations of a tropic paradise, and features yourself clearly emoting and exhibiting happiness. Maybe blondes do have more fun. Cheryl / @Seffers: I do love the 20th century vibes within this photo. While I don't think that the picture's primary intent is to exhibit happiness (instead it seems more focused on nostalgia), you got the job done. Nicki / @Queen Riri.: I'm a but underwhelmed by this picture considering how Nicki is known for her strong ability to emote, but it clearly displays happiness. I hope this was just a matter of you wanting to save your stronger material for later in the game, cause this picture on its own isn't necessarily a strong first impression. Even so, you've fit the brief. Lady Gaga / @Douglas Booth: Like Nicki, I'm a bit disappointed in your inability to muster up a more expressive picture for such an emotive person. While I do like the production value of this picture better than Nicki's, it's also less clearly happy in nature beyond the juxtaposition between Gaga and the other model. the point of this theme is not to simply show Gaga being happy, but to show it to the tenth degree. James / @mxtthewdelrey: Immediately no, immediately no. The picture itself looks like a random picture from a concert with minimal production value, the outfit is swallowing him up, and there's no intensity in the picture. The theme is not to simply show a picture of you being happy, it's to embody happiness as much as possible. Giselle / @Opulent: Giselle looks vibrant and full of life here, so I think this clearly meets the assignment. The picture itself isn't necessarily game--changing, but it can certainly get you through this round. Gigi / @DevonRoars: Like the above, I think this fits the brief but it isn't necessarily the most captivating photo in the bunch. Something about the shape of Gigi's mouth in the shot seems somewhat awkward as well. Urassaya / @Kylie Jenner: While I do think that other models convey happiness better here, I do feel like the other elements within the shot (lighting, graphics, outfit, etc.) help reinforce that you're going for happiness here. I'm not mad at it. Cara / @touya kinomotoFor some reason even with the tears streaming down your face, I'm not super drawn to this picture emotionally. There's something almost apathetic about this shot. Regardless, I think you've definitely met the assignment. Kirsten / @Littlejfrey: This is a beautiful first picture but, in my opinion, I'm not getting sadness from this at first glance. There's something demure, classy, and retro about it, but I'm not getting sadness. Aweng / @kipperskipper: I'm definitely not mad at this first choice, and that's partially because I basically have done the same shot before. While I think there are a lot of different ways you could take this photo (sadness vs. just a pure lack of emotion vs. even internal anger), I can see your interpretation pretty clearly. Joan / @ZORBIT: This picture would benefit from more showing and less telling. The teardrop graphics, while clearly helping to convey sadness, feature pictures inside that don't actually seem that sad. I feel like the base photo would be better on its own. Lori / @Mr. Specialist: This would be great for a beauty shot round, but sadly this is not a beauty shot round. I get seductive, I don't get sadness. Ryan / @WestHaven: Another picture that would look nice in a catalog but that doesn't display any of the four asked for emotions. I don't see where you're getting sadness from here. This cool, mysterious, maybe even pensive, but it's not sad. Kiko / @Samson: Like the above, my initial response isn't that this picture reflects anger. I'm just seeing a mysterious artist who's in the zone. I do think that there is a certain intensity to this shot that I appreciate though. Anne /@Yvess: this does look angry (at least in the first picture), but the production value on this shot is kinda low. It's giving "girl visiting Brooklyn tries to be edgy on instagram". Jordan @Galactic: This is a shot that conveys anger, sadness, and fear, and probably could have worked in any of those three categories. I lowkey would have almost preferred this in sadness, just based off of the way that brow is furled in the picture, but either way I'm very impressed. Alton / @Not Like The Movies: I kinda get a "hardened warrior" vibe from this photo, but projecting strenth isn't the same thing as projecting anger. This is another picture that will look nice in the catalog, but that doesn't necessarily fit the brief in the way that I would like. Allison / @Kylizzle: I think I'd prefer a photo that was 10% less understated for anger, but I see what you were going for here, and I can appreciate the attempt to aim for subtlety. A nice pic to start out your body of work for the season. Tyra / @CBCI think you've embodied the emotion well here, though I also could see a convincing case made for sadness here (even if there aren't obvious signifiers like tears). I do feel ike the aesthetic of the photo is a bit off, but that's neither here nor there given what the others are serving this week. Angelica / @TruGemini: The only thing more stunning than this picture is the fact that you think it conveys fear. I will give you some leeway, and assume you are going for a "catwoman burglar worried she's about to get caught" kind of moment, but even still, please try to follow the prompt better next time. It would be a shame to lose someone this stunning early. Janelle / @99sandthe2000s: I'm a fan of this picture. I do think that this more so conveys "momentary shock" than fear necessarily, but I do like it. Cole / @Insanity: I do love the classic cinema vibes of this picture, almost like it's a recoloring of something initially presented in Black and White. I think the staging of this photo could be stronger, but you've done a good job here. Edited March 19, 2022 by Rotunda

Kylizzle Posted March 19, 2022 Posted March 19, 2022 Thank you to the judges for these critiques. I know I need to work on my expressions... I promise to show more versatility as the competition gets going. I hope no one from my team goes... I feel like we showed the most versatility of the groups, so I hope none of us go home.

Thanatos Posted March 19, 2022 Posted March 19, 2022 Trisha Paytas for HAPPINESS 1. Gisele Bündchen l @Opulent Gisele is supermodel and I really wanted you to slay hard this first round. I do get happiness, which is great. Her legs look stunning. However, the picture is a bit plain and lacks that special something to really stand out. The white wall in the background is not doing IT. Still an okay entry! 2. Kiko Mizuhara l @Samsom The Black&White filter for this picture is a great choice and I like the blurry effect as well. The emotion of anger is portrayed by her facial expression, but I wanted more. Still a decent entry for a first round. 3. Cole Sprouse l @Insanity So glad to see you back with Cole. Great portayal of the emotion fear. This picture tells a story and I want to know what Cole is looking at? Maybe Miranda Priestly at 5 am in the morning? Who knows! I wish the picture wasn't cropped and we could see more of the setting. 4. Lady Gaga l @Douglas Booth This is an example of a simple plain background that just works and fits perfectly. I obviously love the hat, shoes and outfits. Sara also painted Gaga's MUG correct for this particular shoot (hihi). Beautiful smile from Gaga. Did you knock it out off the park? No. But still a good first entry!! 5. Aweng Chuol l @kipperskipper Fun fact, I was at an art & photography museum today and this is totally something that they would display. I love how raw this is. Great job and nice way to stand out. 6. Joan Small l @ZORBIT This is the type of stuff that I want to see and I am not surpirsed that it is coming from you. I hope that the other judges and your fellow models give you the flowers that you deserve to get. This is so original. I love the veil, it's simple but so effective for the emotion that you are portraying. (Also that eye-makeup is stunning). I love that they printed this with the 3 cracks on the left side, it adds that special touch. Great job. 7. Alton Mason l @Not Like The Movies When you posted the headshot of your model, I was gagged by his beauty and had to look up some of his pictures and also saw this entry. This is a brilliant picture. The styling is perfection. That chestplate with the nipple ring omg. I want him to give more anger with his facial expression so I wish you'd kept this for another round (). But great first impression!! 8. Janelle Monae l @99sandthe2000s Idk what Janelle saw but she is clearly SHOOK and expressing fear. This red light is so cool, I love it so so much. The hair is fun. Great work this first round, keep it up! 9. Angelica Ross l @TruGemini Gorgeous face. I love the styling of this, very sexy yet glam. The setting is very mysterious and that wall gives me expensive bathroom vibes. Now for this specific round and portraying fear, I have to say that you are the weakest from your group. I'm just not seeing the emotion. 10. Jordan Blake l @Galactic This is for sure my favorite entry from Team Anger. What a great expression of the emotion. I love the light that they used for this photoshoot and the golden highligher on his skin was such a great choice. Excellent first expression from you! 11. Nicki Minaj l @Queen Riri. Do I think that this is a good entry? No. However, it is the only picture that has me smiling/laughing ever since I saw the entry post. 12. Gigi Goode l @DevonRoars I am a huge fan of Gigi. This picture is okay for the first round but very basic. I wish the wig would not cover her smile. The MUG is right. 13. Kirsten Dunst l @Littlejfrey I like the green background and the overall mood of this picture. The corset is beautiful. Idk why she has a plastic bag on her hair. Her face is not really giving me so much sadness, maybe because the eyes are little wonky. However, you are selling it with the the placement of the hand on your chest. Maybe a little tear on her face would have helped! Still a decent entry. 14. Allison Harvard l @Kylizzle Hm this is sadly a weaker picture. If you are just going to send a face picture that I need the facial expression to be really strong and in this case I am not really getting that much anger, it's more a serious face. You picked a great model and I hope that you get to stay and showcase her amazing catalogue. 15. Ryan Destiny l @WestHaven Ooo another picture with special light effects, I really like this halo effect. The neon eye-makeup is gorg. The emotion of sadness is well portrayed. This is good entry and a nice first impression! 16. Dominque Jackson l @sugrbby666 After TruGemini's amazing run on the Color Game with Dominique, I am so glad that you are now playing with her in this game. This is a great first entry. I love the setting. Dominique's smile is affectious. The clothes were a great choice. Nice portrayal of the emotion, it's just correct. 17. Cheryl Cole l @Seffers Ever since Cherly Hole made it on Drag Race UK S1, I always read the Cole as Hole . This is a good portrayal of the emotion. I like that it is in Black and White and the fashion fits the vibe. However, I would love to see more of the setting. What is happening behind? What car is she sitting in? 18. Tyra Banks l @CBC The OG of the topmodel franchise is HERE. First of all, I get fear from this picture, she's clearly scared of something, I wonder what? Now again, I wish I'd see a bit more, maybe more hair and down to the breast area. Still a good first entry. 19. Lori Harvey l @Mr. Specialist OMG, such a stunning face. This would have been a clear SHOOT in a beauty round. The styling is so right. However for this round, I really don't see anger in her face. 20. Candice Swanepoel l @TheArgonaut This is so good. What a great start. I am obsessed with the hair styling. Her smile is great and you are clearly portraying the emotion. I also love the rock background and the palm leave shades are nice touch. 21. Cara Delevigne l @touya kinomoto Excellent first picture. It gets the job done and I am clearly seeing sadness. The tears are great addition. It is simple but very effective. 22. Anne Curtis l @Yvess I wonder what happened for her to get that MAD. Whew I'd not want to be near her. I'm clearly getting anger. I like the way it got printed, just like Zorbit's entry, it adds that special something. Good first entry! 23. James Newman l @mxtthewdelrey God bless you <3 24. Urassaya Sperbund l @Kylie Jenner She has such a beautiful face and she has a great smile. I also like the addition of the flowers in this picture. This is a decent first entry.

Julia Fox Posted March 19, 2022 Posted March 19, 2022 I don’t get why the judges don’t see anger in my pic, I’m literally looking evil to someone while biting a rope attached to my arms… how that is NOT angry?
