elvis was just a product of plagiarism

No disrespect to Elvis but who the hell called him the King of Rock and WHY.

No. Weren't album sales better during MJ's time? Also I'm pretty sure he was more global.

Elvis Presley swagga-jacked from the Black community so no, I am not surprised.

People always coming at Elvis for "taking from black culture" need to keep that same energy for the rest. 99.9% of white artists, including all those British bands took from black culture. African Americans have by far the most globally influential and pervasive musical culture, Elvis was not the first, nor will he be the last to take from black culture, they all do it unless they want to do ballet or classical or some ****.

MJ is bigger and more global obviously, but I don't understand the need to constantly **** on Elvis' legacy like he was Bull Connor or Bill Biblio or something :rip:

The difference is that in the 70s/80s, people who took from the black culture gave back. The stones have made many black musicians millionaires, promoted them in the UK and have been the driving forces behind turning Tina Turner into a rock star.

David Bowie & George Michael did the same job of giving credit back.

Since the late 80s, people who take from black music gets to compete with black artists. So they actually have to be good. See Sam Smith, Jojo, Aguilera, Anastasia…

Back when Elvis did that, they stole the publishing from black artists, erase their names and got to sell “Black music” exclusively to white audience as black artists were not played on mainstream radios. & took 100% of the glory.

So no, it is not the same thing.

The 1950's were entirely different from the 1970's and 1980's. 1950's America was segregated and Rhythm & Blues was looked down upon, even by many black audiences, primarily the more urbanized middle class that emerged out of the great migration. And that was exclusive to Rhythm & Blues again because plenty of black artists were popular in the 1950's, Nat King Cole was one of the biggest selling artists in the US at the time, but he was a crooner.

Elvis worked with black artists and musicians and was very generous as a boss.

My issue is with people turning him into a white supremacist.

Both are disgusting predators BUT I will give this one to MJ I guess

MJ was proven not guilty, even after the FBI did a deep investigation :giraffe:

Surprised to see Madonna at 5!

Black artists don’t want generous white bosses that are less talented than them & who got to where they were by stealing royalties from other talented black artists in the first place.

I understand the times were different but that also explains why people are trying to put his legacy in context and bring it down several notches.

You seem certain of this. What's your proof/evidence/confirmation that MJ paid the court, jury, and FBI? :ace:

Elvis is weaker in streaming as his core fans age and die (no shade but literally).

What's more shocking to me is Queen pulling that far ahead of Madonna. For a long time Beatles/Elvis/MJ/Madonna were the Top 4 selling artists.

Never was interested in Elvis career tbh but your posts are very interesting and show different angles. I didn't know these last few years his legacy was tarnished this way though :rip:
