Would Heat Waves be the longest climb to #1 ever?

Absolutely. Record is held by Mimi's AIWFCIY with 35 week. Truly impressive.

Glass Animals’ “Heat Waves” ascends 4-2 for a new Hot 100 best (after it charted as high as No. 3). The song reaches the runner-up spot in its 57th week on the chart, shattering the mark for the longest climb to the top two, previously held by Mariah Carey’s “All I Want for Christmas Is You” (35 weeks, over multiple seasonal runs until the 1994 classic hit No. 1 for the first time in December 2019).

 :clap3: 58 weeks to #1 :1stplace:

Wow, if “Heat Waves” hits number #1 next monday, on its 58th charting week, It’s gonna be an unprecedented feat.

In terms of four consecutive decades with no gaps:

• Tina Turner

• Barbra Streisand

• Cher

• Madonna

• Whitney Houston (Posthumous)

• Mariah Carey

• Mary J Blige

Thus far, Streisand has the most appearances however - 5 decades. Her first appearance was in 1962 & her last appearance was in 2005. I don’t see anybody tying or surpassing that unless MC charts in the 2030’s or Madonna charts this decade. :rip:
