Was Paloma Faith's longevity impressive?

Certifications in the UK are automatic. The only reason the album hasn't even been certified silver is because the album hasn't even sold 60,000 units in the UK since July 2020. Funnily enough, Paloma's 2020 album (which was released three months after Brightest Blue) is already silver.

Marina hasn't had an album go even silver in the UK since 2012.

True, Ellie and Marina are more well known globally and Ellie's early eras blow Paloma out of the water but neither have the sustained success Paloma had for years in the UK and she's still bigger than both of them here.

Ellie Goulding is a household name here in the UK, Paloma Faith is not. Sure she may have more fans buying her albums, but she's never had like a solo certified single ever since 2014.

Also BPI states their certifications are automatic yes, but labels still have to claim them. E.g. Clavin Harris' label only updates a few eras at a time. There's a reason why "Anything Could Happen" was certified Platinum the exact same time her discography got an update in the US. Can't be that much of a coincidence.

Again this thread is about longevity not who the bigger artist is. Ellie Goulding is obviously a much bigger much more well known artist but she has still struggled to maintain success like most female artists do in the UK. Very few female artists have three or more multi platinum albums in the UK, hell very few have three or more that even scanned platinum.

Paloma has never and will never have a peak like Ellie's but the fact that she managed to stay successful for so long and for most of that time she was over thirty is still impressive. I'm not trying to shade other artists I'm just pointing out a way that Paloma has excelled in her career and how her commercial success is actually bigger than it seems because as you say her singles never do numbers.

Ok sure, Paloma has had more longevity with albums so I guess we'll have to see how Ellie's next album performs to truly compare them (probably will flop but I hope I'm wrong)
