Feanor
With 2.4M album sales and 6.893 billion US on-demand streams, which translate to around 4.66M SEA units, Taylor Swift sold an estimated 7.06M units in the US in 2021. Admittedly, there is no official source claiming this exact number, but through official data provided by Billboard and Nielsen, this number can be calculated through simple, yet logical and rational calculations that I encourage you to read below in the spoiler tag. Calculation: Spoiler These were the official numbers stated in Billboard's recent article about Nielsen's 2021 music report regarding Taylor Swift's 2021 success: 2.4M total album sales 0.61% of total on-demand streams (audio + video) These were the 2021 numbers for the US industry, as provided by Nielsen: Total US on-demand streams in 2021 were 1.13 trillion, so with a 0.61% share for Taylor, it translates to 6.893 billion US on-demand streams in 2021. 1.13 trillion on-demand streams translated to 763.8M on-demand SEA album units (893.1M - 129.3M units from TEA + album sales), so on industry average, 1.479,44 on-demand streams are the equivalent of 1 album unit. Dividing Taylor's on-demand streams total of 6.893 billion with this equivalent number would give her an estimated SEA album unit count of ~4.659M SEA units 4.659M SEA units + 2.4M album sales = ~7.06M units overall (still excluding track-equivalent units for which there's no data) ~7.06M units would be even higher than the 6.5M units HDD projected her to finish with back in early December of last year, marking how strong of a year Taylor had in 2021. Literature
If it wasn't for the anomaly that is BTS, Taylor would rule the IFPI top artist list for several years with 0 competition due to her catalog strength/continued mainstream success. That is insane.

Wow love or hate BTS buy they are selling albums all over the world and selling out stadiums in Asia, America and Europe Taylor has released 5 albums in 3 years, her catalogue is doing very well, but without these 5 new albums she is not close to the #1 spot. Btw BTS only surpassed Taylor past year, and she released 2 studio albums, but in 2017 she was 3rd and in 2018 without an album she did not appear on the list

It is an anomaly because no other KPOP group has done, or is doing this much commercially like BTS is doing.
