Mariah Carey - Of all the choices for Mariah, this wouldn’t be it. It’s too wordy. Fantasy was right there. Björk - This theme is just not made for an artist like Björk. Good choice though. ________________________ Clue Destiny's Child - One of my favorite pop choruses ever. Shakira - Great choice. Britney Spears - You had choices upon choices to choose from, and this was a good choice. Mariah Carey - Yes. Christina Aguilera - Sure. Shania Twain - Yes. Missy Elliott - Definitely what I'd pick. Jennifer Lopez - I didn't know that this was a hit until I got older. Not really catchy for me. Björk - On what planet would this make sense with even "It's Oh So Quiet" on the same album? But anyway, looking back on this… you probably would end up bottom tier anyway no matter your selection against these other artists. ________________________ Gateau Christina - Crafted in a lab to be annoyingly catchy. Every word just HITS. Missy - When you get the world to sing to nonsense words and repeat it as if they’re real, thats when you know a chorus is THAT catchy *****. Shakira - Yuppp yup yup. Mariah - Understood the assignment. This is super catchy but you had some tough competition. DC - this is in. my. head. Shania - this is kind of weird because I agree its catchy but its sorta disjointed? I’ve always felt that way about this song. Its awkward to sing because you have to contort your mouth to do the “whuh-oh-uh-oh” parts. Not to mention most of it really doesn’t rhyme or flow, even though its one of my favorite songs ever. Britney - this is gonna sound weird but despite this songs ubiquity, I don’t think anyone knows the words to the chorus. The song is driven pretty much entirely by its instrumental and the video. Great song, but catchy chorus? Not really. JLo - Incredibly forgettable. Bjork - This is where I failed when I picked Bjork to do this challenge too. Bjork doesn’t really have pop raido ready catchy choruses that make getting through this challenge easy, which you would have seen had you checked out the previous seasons… ________________________ luckystrike Britney Spears - God tier. Shakira - Rent was due. Shania Twain - I enjoy this far more than I thought I would. Destiny’s Child - A timeless chorus. Missy Elliott - Your first reasonable submission, work! Björk - Hmm, it’s probably one of her least accessible songs, but I think it’s important to note that this song is predominantly sung by a Canadian Inuit throat singer, so to call it bad seems a bit racially and culturally insensitive. I think it’s meant to evoke strong emotions from the listener. I get why you sent it though. Missy Elliott - Not my fave from her, but not bad. Shania Twain - Not bad at all, Now has several worse songs. Or anything from her pre-fame work. ________________________ Clue Björk - Definitely one of her worst. Mariah Carey - I hate Christmas music, so masterful choice. Christina Aguilera - This was out of control. Jennifer Lopez - Omg this cheap mess. I was gonna be ready to fight if you'd sent "Booty". Destiny's Child - This is one of the better Christmas songs. The production is so odd and the vocals are mixed so loudly, this is... something... Shakira - Disposable bop. Missy Elliott - Not bad. Shania Twain - There's worse on "Now". Britney Spears - This has always been a bop. ________________________ Gateau Shakira - After shakira sings her part, there’s a noise that sounds like a fart on the track. Fitting. Britney - The worst part about this is… its boring. Missy - I was really disappointed when this song ended up being her BIG RETURN. Killed a lot of the hype she had coming in. Mariah - No effort was put into making her voice match the song. Its terrible. Christina - I saw a viral dance clip that featured this song several years ago so I always had an affinity for it Bjork - I understand why you sent this, I do. Because I sent it myself I think, when I did this challenge. But I like this song. I love how primal and exciting it makes me feel. I’ve listened to it many a times in the past. Jlo - I actually like this song? Pitbull was unnecessary but the rest was perfectly fine. JLo has some real STINKERS so I’m surprised you tried iT with this. Shania - ur nuts! This is cute. DC - Uhhh am I crazy or is this really good and going on my holiday playlist? I really liked this take on that song, which I usually find overly saccharine and cheesy. This was good. Lowkey. Great beat. ________________________ luckystrike Bjork - Christ, who willingly listens to this? Mariah Carey - I turned this off almost immediately. Jennifer Lopez - Wow, this sucks really bad. Destiny’s Child - Sending Christmas songs is always a reach but I guess it’s indeed a bad Christmas song. Britney Spears - Lock her sister up. Christina Aguilera - This is a scream and objectively horrible, but it has something I kinda like, trashy bop. Shania Twain - I mean, I’m not familiar with her music but this sounds like a standard Shania song, I don’t think it’s bad. Shakira - I’m sure she has worse, this is cute radio fodder. Missy Elliott - This is not bad at all, I can’t. ________________________ Not Like the Movies Mariah - Yeah this is really really bad, good choice. Christina - Sounds like some shite Charli/Slayyyter would release and everyone would pretend its genius, hate it! J. Lo - Pure shite, good choice. Bjork - Not a fan of this song tbqh, I rearranged my ranking for this when I saw what Auburn said, didn’t know that aspect about it. DC - One of their weaker Christmas renditions, the production is bad. Britney - Anything from this terrible album is a good choice (except Passenger and Work *****) Shakira - It’s not great but ngl I would bop to it in a party after a few drinks. Shania - I don’t like it but there are worst songs in the lineup. Missy - A fun twerking bop, this isn’t bad whatsoever, I really like this song. ________________________ Staryu Bjork - God awful. Her voice was SOARING that night! Britney Spears - A masterful performance, a true showwoman. Would have been #1 if she put effort into at least providing some pre-recorded vocals. Björk - Her ability to replicate her studio vocals live is so impressive to me. She never misses a step. Missy Elliott - The performance skills were there, but I felt less focused on her than the entire spectacle. Destiny’s Child - So Kelly and Michelle only had their mics turned on once Survivor began. It’s a typical DC performance for me. I think a performance that focused more on their vocal harmonies would have fared better for me. Christina Aguilera - Odd choice, she shows off her more natural softer voice here. But it’s not technically amazing, I know she has better. Shakira - She’s great but this is most certainly not her best, she doesn’t need to share the stage with anyone to put on her best performance. It feels like a lazy choice. Shania Twain - Anything post-Lyme for Shania is NOT GOOD. I looked through a lot of her performances for the previous season of Diversity and I can tell you this is nowhere near her best. Jennifer Lopez - If JLo isn’t slaying the choreo, then she has no reason to be on a stage. ________________________ Clue Björk - So great and one of my favorite songs ever. It's just missing the bass from the album version. Britney Spears - Sure. Shakira - Not the whole performance. Mariah Carey - "Vision of Love" from this night is so much better. Destiny's Child - Not exciting, but the talents there, of course. Jennifer Lopez - Not her starting with "Tens". Missy Elliott - Sure. Christina Aguilera - Not in a million years would this be my choice. Like no "Hurt" performance? Shania Twain - We asked for "best". ________________________ Gateau Bjork - She will honestly always win the live performance round because her voice is just MADE for live performance. The way its theatrical, and organic, and guttural. I love it. So captivating. THe crazy part is, this isn’t even one of her top 10 performances. Shakira - I’m not a shakira fan but she really stole the show with this. She kicked, she bopped, she bumped her hips. Everything was perfect. DC - VERRRY enjoyable. They really laid it all out for this. Mariah - Pure vocal excellence. Her voice sounded like it was limitless, made all the mor impressive by her reputation of just being a “Studio singer”. Britney - Really breaks my heart to rank this at #5 but sis was. not. singing. The dancing was good and of course the snake was iconic, and she looked fantastic, but I don’t feel like its QUITE at the caliber as the ones above. JLo - The jack of all trades, master of none. She’s not really innately talented at anything in particular but she put on a damn good effort. I screamed a bit when she sang Waiting for Tonight and shouted “I know y’all know the words!” Girl, no they don’t. Christina - Meh. Shania - I watched this live as it happened and I was like… okay. I mean, its there. I suppose. It happened. I’m a big fan but this was by the point she was past her performance prime and was phoning it in a bit. Missy - Breaks my heart to put her right here but you could not hear anything she was singing, this was the studio track through and through. And she couldn’t be assed to learn the dances tbh. ________________________ luckystrike Britney Spears - I’m gay so I have to rank this #1. Shakira - Eatery except for the Bad Bunny part. Mariah Carey - This feels like a warm hug, charming. Destiny’s Child - They ate, hate the dresses on Kelly and Michelle though Shania Twain - It was fine, cute number Missy Elliott - It’s okay, middling. Jennifer Lopez - Random, the fashion ate though. Her Super Bowl was there. Bjork - Why is she always looking at the damn ground? Christina Aguilera - This felt like a random ass choice. ________________________ Not Like the Movies Mariah - I love a VOCALIST, not everyone can do it honey! Loved it! (FLAB live would have been excellent too) DC - Their mics were on honey! I love this performance, they all are extremely talented performers, I appreciate that they can move that much and still deliver vocally. Shakira - Of course! Shakira is such a good entertainer, plays instruments too, love it! Britney - I mean ofc this performance is iconic with the snake etc, only reason why this isn’t ranked as high compared to others is because they appealed to me much more vocally but it’s still good ofc. Missy - This is really fun, those dancers were eating down! I enjoyed it thoroughly. J Lo - I feel like every category that she could slay, you decided to send some random choice, she has much better performances than this even though this is good. Christina - I live for vocals and she is a powerhouse but this is such a random choice, she has much better ballad performances of better songs. Bjork - The instrumentation is beautiful and she sounds fine but this performance is weak compared to others here imo. Shania - WHY WHY! You should have sent a performance from before her vocal downfall. As mentioned earlier, we made the decision to medevac Acetone since we didn’t hear from them after a long while. A few hours later, Acetone has returned and explained the situation. We are going to REVERSE the removal due to these unprecedented circumstances. That means the game will just be going in the same exact path it was going, prior to the removal announcement. This decision has been made out of fairness to all involved and with the following rationale: 1) The game continues to unfold naturally with players voting out other players. Alliances or bonds are not negatively or positively impacted now - it’s neutral. 2) Acetone left a bootlist at the previous TC, like we asked. So there was no issue there. 3) Missing a challenge is not the end of the world unless it becomes recurring. Since Acetone returned in time for the start of tribal council, there’s no issue. If you want us to, we can extend the tribal council deadline to NOON EST on Monday, Feb 28 to give you all a bit more time to adjust if needed. The challenge for Round 12 is... Majority Rules This challenge is called Majority Rules, and this is how it works. You will each have to fill out a survey with what you think the majority of the responders said. You will receive the survey on Discord. The person with the most points (most matching answers with the majority) wins individual immunity. BUT WAIT... THERE'S MORE. It wouldn't be Survivor without some chopping, amirite? For every question you get right (dependent on the order we ask the questions, which is random), you will get the ability to chop down someone. SIX (6) chops and that person is out. The last person standing will also win individual immunity. A few things: 1) Do NOT share or talk about your responses with ANYONE. It ruins the fun of the game and isn't allowed, and remember that it's an individual game! (there will be consequences) 2) The live chopping will take place at 10 PM EDT on Monday, February 28th! Yes, we're aware that a couple of people will miss it, so we will be reaching out to them individually with next steps (please still do the survey though!). Your responses are due in <20 hours...
