ATRL Moderator Element Posted February 16, 2022 ATRL Moderator Share Posted February 16, 2022 Castaways, welcome to the tenth challenge of Survivor: ATRL Edition (Season 12)!! Waking Up In Vegas This round, you will be trying out a brand new challenge for ATRL Survivor! We are taking a trip to the ever-iconic Las Vegas! You will be randomly split into three teams of four and will start flexing your creative talents. Inspired by Katy Perry’s recent Play residency, you will be tasked with creating a Vegas Residency for an artist of your choosing. You can pick any artist that you think would be a viable residency performer — keep in mind that they should have a discography large enough to craft a full show. You are also NOT allowed to choose an artist who has already had a residency. Multiple teams are allowed to choose the same artist; just be mindful that direct comparisons will be done between your show and the other team’s show. SCORING: Instead of giving a score of 1 - 10, each judge will choose how much they would pay for a ticket to your show. Their range is from $1 to $100. The team with the highest gross earned will win immunity at this tribal council -- yes, all four players! The judges will be evaluating the following in their assessment of your residency: 1. Star Power: Does your chosen artist have the power and talent to sell tickets for a Vegas show? 2. Residency Name: Is the residency name intriguing? Does it encapsulate the concepts/themes of the show, as described below? 3. Residency Poster: Is the aesthetic professional? Will it attract an audience? You don’t have to be a graphic designer — utilize Google and free software to the best of your abilities. 4. Set List: Is the set list cohesive and full of variety? Do the song choices make relevant sense within the context of the artist’s career? Does the flow of songs make sense/seem natural for the concert? The target should be approximately 20 songs. Please feel free to create a streaming playlist. 5. Costumes: A costume or multiple costumes that you envision your artist wearing throughout the show. Again, you don’t have to sketch them out. But you can Google fashion pieces and put together what you think would be a great performance look. 6. Show Description: The meat and potatoes: take us through the theme/concept of the show and outline the performance. This is where you can really be inspired! In Katy’s Play residency, she splits the show into multiple acts. As a miniature doll, she adventures through different vignettes - including a bathroom, garden, and toy box - on her quest to live out her dreams of being played with. Some ideas to think about here: What story is being told? What are the chapters? How do the songs play into the different acts of the residency? Colors, lighting, stage design, set pieces, dancers… this is your opportunity to get creative with the written word, pictures, etc…. to describe and sell your residency to the judges! You can consider adding anything else to your residency submission that you think would help sell the show and increase the ticket price -- whether that’s marketing/merchandise/etc. When you send your submission to the hosts, please utilize a format such as Google Docs, Google Slides, or some other other publication tool to make the entry look nice. A submission consisting of a bunch of Discord DMs will not be accepted.
