It was always the bigger song in Germany. Suprised that Mariah reached #1 before him tbh :toofunny3:

Yeah I'm very confused. Last Christmas always seemed much bigger here, but guess not

exactly! I remember back in the VIVA/MTV days 'Last Christmas' was always charting better than Mariah. Guess streaming changed the picture for a minute, but it's back to the old new now

It's always weird how Last Xmas wasn't as big in the US compared to Europe.

obviously the #1 depends on who's higher in the Xmas streaming playlists and German Spotify/Apple Music curators tend to be influenced by English/American playlists where Mariah is far bigger. Last Christmas was always bigger than AIWFCIY in Germany, recent years were just an anomaly due to the streaming-switch

it's been bigger ever since, idk... 2012?... that's a bit longer than just recently. But I agree... with the underlying notion. the song is more beloved here.

Last Christmas is unescapable in Germany at Christmas time. If one of the death games from Squid Games were to avoid hearing it in December, the entire nation's population would sink to 0.
